Alpha Erik? Was he not dead? How?
"Wait!" I called Dion, but he no longer listened to me.
Left with no choice, I ran after him while my heart hammered against my chest. It beat loudly that the only thing I heard was the fast beating of my heart.
Back then, when I gained my consciousness, all I saw was the queen, the alpha king, but never the rest of the traitors of the kingdom.
That was why I thought they were all dead since the alpha king would never allow his enemies to be breathing.
I forced my feet to run faster and was side by side with Dion.
"Who brought Alpha Erik to this place?"
Was it Beta Valentine? Or Delta Isagani? Or the alpha king? Who?
Everything was confusing to me now.
Dion glanced at me. "I don't know, Miss. I was not here when he arrived today."
Today.
The same day I got here.
Probably because it was from the alpha king's orders. But why did he not kill Alpha Erik?
"You two! Do you think this is not serious?"
Dion and I looked at each other. "My apologies, Doc Alice," Dion apologized and would not talk to me anymore, no matter how many times I asked him about Alpha Erik.
Damn it.
Doctor Alice was uttering profanity as we turned right. It seemed that it took forever to get to the alpha's location. Along the way, the servants were looking weirdly at us as they saw our agitated gazes.
After a couple of taking turns in every corner, we managed to arrive in a small room and saw some guards surrounding someone.
"What happened?" the doctor asked.
"Make way for the doctor!" Dion announced.
The little crowd parted and made way for the doctor.
I wished I had not run after them. The moment my eyes landed in front, my mouth went wide open. Blood was all over the place. Someone was slowly breathing heavily and bathing in his blood-Alpha Erik.
My head spun at the sight of his blood and him.
I covered my mouth.
Did the alpha king turn him into a slave like me? Turning an alpha into a slave would be the worst thing an enemy could do.
"Quite moving!" Doctor Alice scolded the alpha. "Everyone! Give us space. We need air! Damn it!"
The guards obliged.
"That man wanted to escape. Fought against us. Grab my sword. He fought us, and fought him. When he was cornered, he stabbed himself. Master Henderson will kill us if he finds out," the bulkiest guard
explained.
Worry was all over his face. Worry not for the patient but for himself.
Doctor Alice started tending to the patient while I clutched my stomach as dizziness hit me hard. It felt like I was going to faint, and I had to grab anything for support.
Alpha Erik.
Was Alpha Wade dead? Why was he the only one spared?
I could heal him if I wanted to. But that would also jeopardize my safety. Master Henderson will use me because of that, which I would never allow.
Trusting the doctor to heal the alpha would be the best thing to do right now.
Alpha Erik needed to live.
I did not know how long I stay there. But the next thing I knew, two men carried the alpha's weak body for further treatment.
Alpha Erik groaned.
"Let me die," he said weakly. "If I escape, I will kill you all."
He would do that.
"You don't have the right to give threats right now," Doctor Alice responded. The crowd parted, giving them space to walk through. "I already applied for first aid. Your wolf is helping you heal. Be a good patient
and let me go home early."
Alpha Erik closed his eyes, still not noticing my presence.
My mouth was itching to call him and ask him about what had happened. I wanted answers. But that was not the right time for that.
"Miss. I'm sorry, but I must bring you to the waiting room." It was Dion. He could not look me in the eyes. It was then that I realized the little crowd had slowly dispersed, leaving me with him.
I took several breaths to calm myself before I murmured, "Led the way."
The waiting room was literally the waiting room for the slaves who would be auctioned. And I will be spending the remaining hours until the auction starts.
There were no cells inside to separate the slaves. Of all the places here, this would be my favorite.
"Food will be brought here, Miss," Dion informed me.
"Stop being good to me. You don't have to do that."
Dion gave me a small smile. "I hope your new master will be kind and good."
At the sound of the new voice, the slaves inside looked at us. They were all clean, wearing the same white dress which fell above their knees. The clothes emphasized their hourglass figure, and their skin was
flawless.
They stood and inspected me. There were a total of ten females, all with hair not reaching their shoulders.
A redhead woman sniffed me as I held my ground.
"I know I stink. You don't have to-"
"You are the mate of the alpha king. The one whom they were talking about earlier. What are you doing here?"
"Well, as you see, I am now a slave. We severed our connection. We are over."
I stepped away from their prying eyes, but the door closed.
"Dion! Open the damn door!"
I still had something to say to that young man.
"He is not allowed to entertain us. Master Henderson will punish him," a woman offered to explain. "Master Henderson will never look if you are a child or not. He will punish anyone who sinned."
"If you want to help him, stay away from him."
I faced the women. "Who are you?"
"You have not answered my question," the redhead stated.
"What? We got sick of each other, so we broke up. Happy?" I lied.
"Just like that?"
"Yeah? Why? Do you want to be his mate?"
"What did you do? He is the alpha king. He could save you here. Use your mind link to ask him. And if he comes here, do not forget to save us also. We are also his people. That is his job."
A vein popped into my neck.
"Excuse me? Do not boss me around."
The redhead glared at me. "All I am asking is for him to save us after he saves you."
"You think I want him to save me? Over my dead body! I don't care about the alpha king. You can have him all you want."
The redhead's eyes widened. "Bitch!"
Putting one finger on my ears, I replied, "Widen your vocabulary, girl. I've been hearing that word countless times now."
"Chiyo! That's enough. Fighting each other will not help us. We have to do something to escape."
Finally. Someone who had some sense.
It was a woman with bob-cut hair standing nervously. She was not the typical woman with a bitchy attitude. Her frail demeanor awakened my protective instinct for her.
"Here comes Dolly the Saint," Chiyo muttered but stepped away.
Dolly strolled towards me and looked at me with hopeful eyes. "Please call the alpha king and tell him to save you. Us. We don't want to be sold," she pleaded.
I went to the farthest corner, the least crowded place in the room. Aside from the redhead and Dolly, the others stayed as far away from me.
"I told you. The alpha king will not come here. Get over it, people. Only we can save ourselves."
Dolly's knees gave out, and she knelt on the ground. "It's over for us. Killing yourself is the only way to be free-"
"Don't you ever dare die in front of me!" I screamed.
The other females gave me a horrified look.
I yanked my hair. My breathing labored. Sweat rolled down from my forehead. The room felt like it was spinning.
The image of Zenith flashed in my mind. Blood. Too much blood.
"Death is not the only choice." My voice cracked.
I closed my eyes.
I did not want to witness any more death. My mind could not handle it anymore.
"Then, will you help us escape?" the redhead asked.
