A piece of cloth covered his face except for his eyes which were full of menace. I could not familiarize him.
I wanted to sit upright and ran away, but sitting upright was difficult. Damn it. I forgot I was pregnant.
The man continued to stare at me with his creepy golden eyes.
"What do you want? Who sent you?" I asked.
It felt like I could no longer hear my own heartbeats.
Calm down, River. Panicking will not help you at all.
"Will you kill me?" I continued.
He moved swiftly, and in a snap, I saw his dagger glinting against the light coming from the moon.
He was here to kill me. For what reason? Was he one of Maxxwell's enemies?
