The Economic Crimes captain held the preliminary technical report, his brow furrowed.
"The trojan program is cunning, with anti-tracking features. We still need time."
I walked directly to the whiteboard and picked up a marker.
"No need for such complications."
Everyone's attention instantly focused on me.
My parents stood behind, their eyes still carrying the worry and tension from earlier.
I drew their entire criminal network topology on the whiteboard—every node, every money flow, precise down to server locations.
"The trojan developer's codename is 'Ghost,' who habitually leaves specific signatures in code. Check Damon's cloud storage, keyword 'Plan B.'"
The Economic Crimes captain paused for a second, then immediately signaled the tech team to begin.
I continued: "The password is his first love's birthday, 0328."
The technician's fingers flew across the keyboard. In less than three minutes, an encrypted folder popped up on screen.
"Found it!"
Inside lay the original trojan program and a screen recording file.
In the recording, Damon was operating my account while bragging to the camera: "See that? So simple to take her down."
Dad's face instantly turned iron-gray, Mom covered her mouth, eyes full of rage.
"Also, check Skye's shopping records. Three months ago there was a package from Atlanta containing pinhole cameras."
Police quickly pulled up Skye's shopping records based on the lead.
Sure enough, that package contained micro surveillance equipment.
The technician excitedly reported: "Captain! Following these leads, we discovered Damon used the same methods for seven small-scale test crimes!"
I drew the final line on the whiteboard: "Their money transfer route goes through offshore trust accounts in the Cayman Islands, registered under Damon's mother's name."
The Economic Crimes captain looked at me, his expression shifting from shock to admiration.
"You shouldn't just be a lawyer."
I glanced back at my parents—their expressions had changed from worry to pride.
"I just wanted to prove that the law can not only punish evil, but also protect family."
The evidence chain was completely closed.
Ironclad proof.
Just then, hysterical roaring came from the adjacent interrogation room:
"Impossible! How could she know all this!"
Skye's crying grew more desperate: "I told you! I told you everything! Please let me go!"
I requested police issue an official statement to clear my name at school and online.
The Economic Crimes captain nodded: "Of course we will."
Just when I thought everything was over, my phone suddenly rang.
Unknown number.
"Hello, I'm a reporter from Legal Evening News. I'd like to arrange an exclusive interview."
I was about to refuse when the reporter's next words stunned me.
"Regarding your boyfriend Damon Cross's other victims—we've found twelve more. One of them has already committed suicide after being defrauded by him."
My phone nearly fell to the ground.
Twelve victims.
One already dead.
I looked at Damon still playing crazy in the interrogation room, a chill rising in my chest.
So I was just a minor episode in his criminal career.
