The next day, Ella again woke up after Alex Walker. When she woke up, she saw Alex talking on the phone in a low voice, but she didn’t hear it clearly. She only managed to catch the words: "Help Henry Smith, send all documents to him."
She was clear now—Alex also knew about the Smith Empire’s situation. Brother Alex, Brother Henry, and Mom all knew about the Smith Empire and her family's condition, but they just didn’t want her to worry. Or maybe they still thought she was too young to understand, so they hid everything from her.

And now, it was a good opportunity. Charles Smith and Ava Brown would be returning, and most of the situation would fall under their control. Even if Charles and Ava tried hard, they wouldn’t be able to turn the tables.
He would never let Ella suffer any hardship again.
He turned to look at the girl he’d been thinking about, only to find that little girl also staring back at him.
After being caught red-handed by Alex, Ella got flustered. Alex’s lips curved into a smile, seeing her flustered face. He walked toward her and leaned in close—only about five centimeters away. Ella’s heartbeat quickened, and she closed her eyes in anticipation.
Seeing Ella’s reaction surprised Alex. He hadn’t expected Ella to accept him. He looked at her small face, her curly eyelashes fluttering like a butterfly, and her light pink lips, slightly parted—she really looked like an angel, ready to be teased.
Alex lightly kissed Ella’s forehead. Ella felt his soft lips touch her skin—her face turned red from shyness, and her heartbeat sped up. She wanted to open her eyes but didn’t dare. After kissing her forehead, Alex lightly pecked her right cheek, then moved to her left cheek and did the same. Then his gaze dropped to her pink lips—they were now slightly parted and looked a little too tempting. As he was about to kiss her lips—
The ward door suddenly burst open, without any knocking.
When Alex looked at the people at the door, he frowned and quickly covered Ella with a blanket.
Ella, who was numb and nervous, was still caught in the daze of Alex’s kisses, anticipating a kiss on her lips. But instead of feeling a kiss, she felt herself being covered. She snapped back to reality, tried to steady her breathing, and removed the blanket in embarrassment. But when she saw the two people at the door, her expression immediately turned into anger.
Those two people were none other than Lisa Brown and Jackson Bell.
Lisa was shocked—Alex was really going to kiss Ella! Jealousy filled her heart. Why did Ella get all the best things in the world without doing anything?
On the other hand, when Jackson saw the scene, he was stunned. Under normal circumstances, Ella should’ve been fighting with Alex and waiting for him! Why was she kissing Alex? If this kept going, he would lose Ella—and with her, his luxurious life.
“Ella, what is this?” Jackson asked in an authoritative tone, like he was the one who had been wronged—as if he was very true to Ella, and she was the one who cheated. But he forgot the person next to Ella was her fiancé—someone who had every right to kiss her.
“Ella, what are you doing? You’ve disappointed Jackson and me very much! Jackson is your boyfriend—how could you cheat on him?” Lisa accused, as if Alex and Ella were some adulterous couple.
Hearing Lisa’s words, Jackson suddenly felt confident, like she had just confirmed everything he believed. He jumped in, “Ella, I loved you so much! How could you do this to me? I was working so hard to become a successful man for you, and you go and do this to me?”
Alex just looked at them without saying anything, watching the drama unfold. He trusted Ella now, but he still wanted to see whether she would back down from her promise in front of Jackson.
“Mister, we were wrong from the beginning. I’m a girl who already has a fiancé—how could I have a boyfriend? It’s better if we never meet again. And please take the money I spent on you over the past eight months as compensation. Don’t show up in front of me again.”
Ella made it very clear. She didn’t call Jackson by name because she remembered her promise to Alex, and she wasn’t going to break it.
When someone heard Ella’s words, the corners of his lips curved into a small smile—but no one noticed.
When Jackson heard Ella call him Mister, he was shocked. So was Lisa.
“Ella! How could you call me Mister? I’m Jackson Bell—your boyfriend!”
“Ella, how could you do this? We loved each other. You can’t just dump me! I love you, Ella! Please don’t say those things.”
He couldn’t let her break up with him—not now. He was still in his first year and needed money for all kinds of things. He had to keep living like a rich young master in front of his friends at university. If Ella left, he’d have to go back to being poor—and after tasting the sweetness of luxury, he just couldn’t go back.
