Ella didn’t pay much attention to Lisa Brown’s phone call and kept walking toward the grounds. Lisa winked at Jackson Bell and hurried back to the building while answering the call.
“I’ve sent both of them to the ground. Remember to take better pictures—they should look intimate. And before posting them on the school forums, send them to me first,” Lisa said hurriedly before hanging up.
“Tell me what you want to say, but say it fast. I don’t have the whole day to waste with you,” Ella immediately said to Jackson.
“Ella, you weren’t like this before. You were always free whenever I wanted to talk to you, but now you don’t even have the patience,” Jackson said with a hint of grievance in his voice.
“You just want to talk about this? Didn’t I already say don’t waste my time with this useless topic and stay away from me? Let me remind you one more time: this is the last warning. Stay away from me. If you come to disturb me again, I won’t stop Alex Walker and my brother from dealing with you,” Ella said firmly and started walking toward the building.
But before she could go inside, Lisa came up to stop her.
“Hey, Ella, where are you going? You promised to talk with us. Why are you leaving so suddenly? At least listen to me,” Lisa stood right in front of Ella.
“Say what you want,” Ella stopped but controlled herself from losing it. She just wanted to leave quietly so she could focus on her work—she didn’t want to alert her enemies.
“Ella, why are you talking like this? Let’s talk and clear up the misunderstanding between us,” Lisa said, looking hurt.
Ella took a deep breath. “Okay, tell me, Lisa—what misunderstanding do we have?”
“Ella, before we were like sisters. You would never be this rude to me. So why are you like this now?” Lisa’s eyes were red as she said this.
Listening to Lisa’s words, Ella sneered inside. There’s no sister in the world who would ask or encourage her sister to jump off a bridge. So don’t talk to me about being sisters, Lisa. Your surname is Brown and mine is Smith. We are not sisters. After thinking this, Ella walked toward the classroom but then stopped mid-step.
“One more thing, Ella. I have nothing to do with Jackson Bell. I’m already engaged, so next time don’t bring him up to me—or it won’t be good for you,” Ella warned Lisa before leaving.
“You—” Lisa controlled her anger, took out her phone, and looked at the photos sent to her. You’re so arrogant now, Ella. I want to see if you can still be this arrogant tomorrow. She selected some photos with the best angles and got ready to post them on the school forums.
When Ella returned to class, Aria was already waiting for her. “Ella, why did you take so long? If you hadn’t come in five minutes, I was going to report it to the class teacher.”
“Calm down, I’m fine. Nothing happened. Look,” Ella said, handing her some water.
“Ella, I’ve told you many times that Lisa isn’t what she seems on the surface. She’s only using you. She and Jackson Bell aren’t your friends—they’re wolves in sheep’s clothing,” Aria tried to persuade Ella again.
“I know, Aria. They’re only using me, which is why I don’t want any kind of relationship with them now. So don’t worry—I won’t repeat my past mistakes. Now I’m a new Ella,” Ella said with a smile.
“You… are you alright, Ella? Do you have a fever?” Aria asked, placing her hand on Ella’s forehead.
“I’m perfectly fine,” Ella said, grabbing Aria’s hand from her forehead.
“Then how is this magic happening? In the past, whenever I said one word against Lisa or Jackson, you’d scream at me like a mad person. And now you’re saying they’re not good?” Aria was shocked by Ella’s change.
“Why aren’t you happy?” Ella teased.
“No, I’m very happy! I want to dance to celebrate this news!” Aria hugged Ella excitedly.
“Okay, okay, enough now. Tell me, where is your aunt?” Ella asked while packing her things.
“Oh, sh*t! How could I forget? Mom’s waiting for us in the waiting room. Let’s hurry! But Ella, why do you want to leave school?” Aria asked, grabbing her school bag.
