"Brother, you first have to go to Alex Walker's villa and change your car there. Then you’ll go to City A, promise me," Ella Smith reminded Henry Smith again—she didn’t want to take any kind of risk.
"Okay, okay, I promise you. First, I’ll go to Alex’s villa and change my car to the one you chose. Now you should also go and get ready for school, otherwise, you’ll be late," Henry said before sending Ella back into the villa.
On the other side, Charles Smith threw his phone against the wall in anger. "That bastard... good, very good. He’s seriously going against my words. Don’t blame me for being heartless now."
"Hubby, I’ve said this to you before—keeping Henry around isn’t safe. And it’s not like you’re being heartless. Henry is not your son, but you’ve raised him like one for almost twenty-three years. And now he’s going against you, trying to find evidence that could land you in prison for life," Ava Brown said as she watched the change in Charles’s expression before continuing.
"You are right. No matter how much you raise the blood of other people, they will always remain a bastard," Charles Smith said while gritting his teeth.
"So, hubby, should we proceed according to our plan?" Ava Brown asked hurriedly, wanting to remove Henry Smith from her path to success as soon as possible. Because without Henry, Clara Jones would become weak, and Ella is not a difficult task.
"So, hubby, should we proceed according to our plan?" Ava Brown repeated, impatient to get rid of Henry and clear the way.
"Sure, let's proceed according to our plan. Henry has already left the villa. I’ll send you the details of the car—give them to those people. But warn them: they must not kill him. Seriously, injuring him will do," Charles Smith said while sending her the car information.
"Of course. How could I bear to kill him? No matter how much he goes against me, he’s still my sister's son. I just don’t want him to harm you," Ava Brown said with a heartache expression, as if she truly cared about Henry.
After sending Charles to the bathroom, she hurriedly sent the details that Charles had sent him before calling the person to instruct them to kill Henry.
On the other side, Henry Smith had already switched into the car that Ella Smith had chosen for him and was on the way to City A. But because he had changed the car, the people who were waiting for him on both sides of the road didn’t get the chance to attack him. They waited for one more hour before contacting Ava Brown.
"Hello, have you completed the work? Did he die?" Ava asked immediately the moment she picked up the phone—she had been waiting for the news with nervousness and hope.
"No, there wasn’t a single car with the number you provided. We’ve been waiting here since morning," the person on the other side of the phone replied.
"What are you saying? I confirmed the information—he left for City A, and that’s the shortest and safest route to get there. Are you sure it wasn’t your people who were useless and missed the car when it passed right in front of you?" Ava Brown almost shouted while speaking.
"But we didn’t see any car that matched your description, and there’s no chance we made a mistake. Our men were split into three groups and stationed at a proper distance," the person on the other end said, not wanting to take Ava’s blame.
"Okay, I’ll send the rest of the money. After receiving it, disappear from the capital and never show your face here again," Ava said, gritting her teeth.
After ending the call, she quickly made another, more mysterious one. "We’ll work according to your plan—but I don’t want Henry Smith to come back from this business trip."
"Okay, I’ll get it done. But like the old times, you have to meet me at the usual place," the person on the other end of the phone said with a cheeky smile.
"You... There’s no need to meet. I’ll transfer the amount—you’ll get the money you want," Ava Brown replied, clenching her teeth.
"You know I don’t lack money. What I want is you, not that cheap cash—I’ve had enough of that. Think carefully about what matters before answering me. It’s not like you’re losing anything. So be a good girl... and choose wisely," the man said again, followed by creepy laughter.
"Fine. I’ll meet you at the usual place—but this is the last time. Remember that," Ava said, hatred flickering in her eyes.
She had left that village many years ago, but this lowlife had followed her all the way to the capital just to disgust her. But now she needed him. So she had to tolerate him. Once she had control over the Smith family business, she would make sure he died a horrible death.
When Ella Smith reached school, everyone was staring at her—some openly, others secretly. Ella didn’t pay much attention to them and walked straight to her class. But even there, everyone was looking at her with strange gazes.
Ignoring them all, Ella went and sat at her desk beside Aria While. But even Aria was glaring at her angrily, cheeks puffed up in frustration.
