"Good. Take that drug and come to my office now," Alex Walker said before cutting off the call without giving James a chance to say anything.
On the other side, James was also a bit confused. Whenever Alex asked him for any drug, they were usually very expensive, rare, and precious—like the last time, when he had asked for a drug that could control people’s minds and force them to tell the truth. But now he was asking for a drug that simply causes a fever? That didn’t seem like something Alex Walker would normally request. But whatever—James just needed to make sure he could secure the funds for his research during today’s visit.
After ending the call with James, Alex made another one.
"I want all the original copies of those photos that are spreading rumors about Ella Smith at her school. Post them directly on the school forum."
After ending the second call, Alex grabbed his keys from the table and walked out of his office.
Meanwhile, the girl at the center of all this drama was now dealing with an annoying flu.
"Ella, look—now everybody knows. We don’t have to hide our relationship anymore, okay?" Jackson Bell said while blocking Ella's path.
"Right, Ella, you don’t have to deny your relationship with Jackson because of Brother Alex. He’ll understand. He wants your happiness, just like we do. He’ll break off the engagement himself. You don’t have to pressure yourself," Lisa Brown added, with a pitiful look, as if someone had bullied her.
"Who wants to be with you? Have you even looked in the mirror? Who do you think you are? And don’t act like Ella’s in love with you. You were the one who begged her to talk one last time," Aria While said sarcastically, not giving Ella a chance to speak.
"You, Aria—I know you're Ella’s friend, but you can’t interfere with her happiness like this. It's true that we met Ella yesterday, but we didn’t force her to kiss me—she did that herself. No one forced her," Lisa Brown quickly added, once again shifting all the blame to Ella.
"Lisa, you don’t have to—"
"The principal is asking for Ella Smith and Jackson Bell in his office. Please come with me," Ella's homeroom teacher interrupted before she could finish.
Ella nodded and followed the teacher to the principal’s office. Jackson walked behind her. Seeing this, Lisa was very pleased—she even hoped that the school might cancel Ella’s admission permanently.
When Aria saw Ella being taken to the principal’s office, she hurried after her, ignoring all the students’ mocking. But she was stopped at the door.
Inside the principal’s office, two people were present. One was sitting on a chair, but his face was hidden by the high back of the chair, so they couldn’t see who it was. The second person stood nearby.
"I hope you both are aware of the photos on the school forum," the principal began.
"Sir, we know it's our mistake, but I’ll take responsibility. We’re in love. We know it was wrong to do that, but we’ll be more careful in the future," Jackson jumped in before the principal could finish, clearly reciting what Lisa had coached him to say.
But his speech only made the atmosphere worse. The room’s temperature seemed to drop. The man in the chair clenched his fist, and even the principal began to sweat nervously.
"Shut up," Ella snapped at Jackson.
"Sir, there’s nothing like that. Those photos were taken from a specific angle, and that’s why people misunderstood. There’s no truth to them," Ella calmly explained.
"Ella, you don’t need to deny it. The principal will understand. There’s no need to hide our relationship anymore," Jackson insisted, still lost in his own fantasy, ignoring the tension in the room.
"Jackson Bell, no matter how much you lie, you can’t change the truth. I don’t love you. So stop claiming we’re together. We have nothing to do with each other," Ella said firmly, destroying Jackson’s illusion. With her words, the atmosphere slowly returned to normal. The principal finally took a deep breath of relief and stood up.
"Student Ella Smith, you don’t need to explain any further. We’ve already found out the truth behind the incident. We've also posted the evidence on the school forum," he said.
Jackson froze. He felt a bad premonition, and a moment later, it came true.
"And Jackson Bell—you are restricted from school activities. You will not be allowed to take your third-year exams," the principal announced, dropping a bomb.
Jackson was stunned. He had been the only one with a chance of making it into a city school, and now, so close to his goal, he was being blocked. He quickly protested.
"Principal sir, how can you expel me? I’ve done nothing wrong! I only love Ella, and that’s not against school rules. I admit my actions weren’t right, but you can’t expel me just for that!" he begged, trying to drag Ella down with him.
"Student Jackson Bell, you are expelled from this school. You’ve been going to bars and taking banned drugs. Also, multiple girls you previously had relationships with have come forward, accusing you of cheating them out of money," the principal said coldly.
