"Brother Alex, what happened to you? Why are you looking so pale? Are you ill?" Ella asked with concern.
"Nothing, Ya Ya, I just have a headache," Alex Walker said while rubbing his temples.
"Let me give you a massage."
"Brother Alex, you have a high fever! Driver Uncle, take us to the hospital, hurry!" Ella had first thought Alex was under work pressure and hadn’t rested properly, which is why his head hurt. But the moment she touched Alex’s forehead, it was burning with fever.
"No, Ya Ya, we don’t need to go to the hospital. I’ll call James to come to the villa," Alex said while grabbing Ella’s hand.
"Okay, that’s also fine. Driver Uncle, please drive fast. I’ll call Doctor James to come to your villa," Ella said while gently freeing her hand from Alex’s and taking out his phone from his blazer pocket.
She could have used her own phone, but it was in her schoolbag. It was easier to use Alex’s phone, and her fingerprint was already registered, so there was no issue using it.
Alex looked at his now-empty hand with a trace of resentment after Ella took hers away.
Ella quickly called James and asked him to come to Stary Villa because Alex had a high fever. James, who had just gotten a call from Ella Smith, finally understood what was going on. So this couple had decided to waste his day.
He handed his cases to his junior doctor, grabbed some vitamin tablets, and packed his medical kit before heading to Stary Villa.
Back at Stary Villa, Ella helped Alex to his room. She was changing the wet cloth on his forehead constantly to bring down the fever, but his temperature was only rising.
"Ya Ya, you don’t have to worry so much. It’s just a little fever. I’m really fine. Don’t worry—I had military training when I was young, so this is nothing for me. But please, don’t cry, okay?" Alex clearly had a fever and was now trying to comfort Ella, who was crying while wiping his forehead.
He just wanted his Ya Ya to care about him and stay with him. He never intended to make her cry. If he had known this would happen, he never would’ve used this method—he never wanted to see his Ya Ya cry.
Ella, unaware that all of this was Alex’s plan to keep her by his side, was now deeply worried. She blamed herself for not paying enough attention to him in her previous life. She didn’t even know if Alex had been this ill back then.
While Ella was still in distress, James arrived with his medical kit. Ella quickly stood up to give him space to check on Alex.
James gave Alex a meaningful look as he checked him, and in response, Alex shot him a warning glare. James gave a faint smile before turning to Ella, who had tears in her eyes.
This was something new for James—to see Ella so worried about his friend. In their social circle, everyone knew that Alex Walker’s fiancée, Ella Smith, didn’t seem to like him much. They often discussed Ella in private and mocked her when Alex wasn’t around. No one understood why Alex loved Ella so much. In their eyes, she wasn’t even qualified to be with someone like their Second Brother.
They all saw how much Alex cared for Ella—how every time he attended an auction, he would buy something for her at an extremely high price. Yet Ella never seemed to appreciate any of his gifts.
And now, this same Ella Smith was crying because she was worried about Alex’s health. That was truly shocking.
Controlling his surprise, James handed some medicine to Ella and said, “Give him this after lunch and dinner. It’s just that he hasn’t been eating or sleeping properly, which is why he has a fever now.”
“In the future, make sure he eats well, sleeps at least seven hours, and doesn’t overwork himself. The main reason for this sudden fever is stress.”
After James finished explaining Alex’s condition, Ella looked at Alex with guilty eyes. She blamed herself—she knew Alex loved her, yet she had continued to hurt him and cause him so much worry for such a long time.
Ella wiped her tears and made a decision—she would take care of Alex from now on. She would even learn how to cook and personally prepare meals for him. With that thought, she stood up to head to the kitchen, but before she could leave, Alex tightly grabbed her wrist.
"Where are you going?" Alex asked nervously. The moment he saw Ella trying to leave, his heart skipped a beat. Alarms went off in his mind, fearing that she was leaving him again.
"I’m going to the kitchen to make porridge for you," Ella replied innocently.
"Ya Ya knows how to cook?"
"Wow, the little princess knows how to cook?"
Two surprised voices asked at the same time. The first was Alex’s, filled with tenderness and mild surprise. The second was James’, his tone a little stunned, with a hint of mockery.
Ella lowered her head in embarrassment before saying softly, “I don’t know how to cook... but I’ll learn.”
"Ya Ya, you don’t have to do all that. There are chefs here to handle it. Didn’t you say you wanted to skip a grade and enter third year? If you’re going to be doing all these things, when will you find time to study?"
Alex asked in a spoiled tone, already overjoyed the moment his Ya Ya said she wanted to learn cooking—for him. That meant he had a very special place in her heart.
