The Narrator just said, [After Yalena went home and sobbed about her grievances, the Guzman family realized that as long as Quinlyn was around, Yalena had no hope of marrying into the Fu family.
[After a quick discussion, they decided to quickly find a family for Quinlyn to get engaged to. Beatrice then offered Yarden as a match.
[Worried that Evelyn might refuse, Yalena and Beatrice drugged Quinlyn's coffee, using the remaining half pill and adding another one, then led Evelyn over to witness everything.
[Ultimately, the Guzman family gave their consent to Quinlyn's marriage to Yarden.]
Quinlyn had always believed that after being resetted into this life, nothing the Guzman family did could ever shake her. She knew all too well how both the Guzman and Chappell families viewed her.
But when she heard that even Evelyn had agreed, she thought bitterly, 'Why? Why would they treat me like this? What did I do wrong?'
They were the same unanswered questions that had haunted her to her dying day in her previous life. Now, it surfaced again, demanding to be reckoned with.
Yasin, getting no response, pressed more sharply, "Speak up. What's wrong?"
Quinlyn blinked, her eyes dry and scratchy, no tears in sight. After a brief pause, she parted her lips slightly and said quietly, "I feel wronged."
Yasin asked, "What?"
Quinlyn said slowly, "I feel like punching someone. I was way too soft last night."
Yasin raised his eyebrows. Having seen the state of Zachary and Xavier's heads and picked up bits and pieces from others, he more or less knew what had happened last night.
With a playful smirk, he nodded in agreement and said, "Then let me set something up for you. How about tonight? I'll pluck those two completely bald and gift each of them a wig."
Quinlyn couldn't help but laugh at his suggestion. She thought, 'If I did pluck those two balds, their parents would hit the roof.'
Yasin's antics pulled Quinlyn out of her funk. After thinking for a moment, she nodded and said, "Not bad. But don't bother with the wigs, I'll deliver them myself."
With that, Quinlyn and Yasin headed out. By the time they reached the shore, most of the group had already boarded the boat.
If this had been their first meeting, Quinlyn and Yasin arriving last would have drawn some mocking remarks. But now, the remaining few simply sat there, calmly going about their own business, accepting the two's late arrival without question.
Logan took in everything, missing nothing. He glanced at Zachary, and their eyes met in the air.
Zachary could read the meanings in Logan's eyes. It seemed to say, "See that? I told you to learn how to deal with people. In just a few days, everyone's attention has shifted to someone else.
"And you, the host, have been completely forgotten in the corner. What an embarrassment!"
Stung by this silent rebuke, Zachary felt his breath catch and his face paled noticeably.
The doctor rushed over for emergency treatment. After a flurry of action, Zachary looked as frail as a consumptive patient, as if he was barely hanging on.
Yalena stood by Zachary's side, her eyes swollen from crying. But when she noticed the direction of Zachary's gaze, she bit her lip until it bled. She didn't even need to look to know he was staring at Quinlyn.
After a long and exhausting journey, the group finally arrived back in Albion.
Several people said they'd head home first, then have their drivers take them to the Fletcher residence that evening.
Logan nodded approvingly and said, "Very well, my dear guests. I'll be expecting you at home this evening. Zachary will join you. You will have a good time and relax."
Everyone looked at Zachary, who was already being carried away on a stretcher by the doctor, and stood speechless.
Getting away proved to be another challenge altogether. Kevin, the only single guy with no strings attached, was the first to leave.
Next were Hannah and Xavier, both wearing sour expressions as they left.
Next up were Yalena and Rita.
With an uncharacteristically cold expression, Yalena fixed her eyes on Yasin before saying to Quinlyn, "Quinlyn, I'm heading home first." Her tone made it clear she had no intention of taking Quinlyn with her.
The Guzman family had only sent one car to pick them up.
Quinlyn just smiled and said, "Do go ahead and tell our parents all about our adventure. I completely understand. You don't have to take me, but are you leaving these two behind as well?"
After this whole trip, Yalena's mask had shattered so many times that she no longer cared about appearances. She slammed the car door shut and ordered, "Driver, home!"
The driver didn't hesitate for a moment. After all these years, he knew exactly who the real heir was. He hit the gas, speeding away.
Quinlyn shook her head mockingly. She thought, 'Seriously, can't believe how fragile these people are.' She then glanced back at Yarden, who looked utterly lost.
Just then, Elsie walked over, carrying her suitcase, and said to Quinlyn, "I'm leaving. Thanks for looking after me these past few days."
Quinlyn was puzzled. She thought, 'Why is she saying goodbye to me?' She glanced at Yarden, who looked utterly devastated, like he'd just lost the love of his life.
Then she looked back at Elsie with a confused look as if asking, "What's going on between you two?"
Elsie said, "Yarden and I broke up. Doubt we'll ever see each other again. Bye." With that, she turned and walked away without so much as a glance at Yarden.
Yarden just stood there, frozen, making no move to follow.
Quinlyn got why Elsie did what she did. She thought, 'Yarden had rotten to the core. If anyone wants him to wake up, he'd need a complete overhaul. There's just no other way.'
Normally, Quinlyn might have had a few more words to say, but after learning what would happen from the Narrator, she thought that leaving Yarden alive for now was already more mercy than he deserved.
Elsie hailed a cab and sashayed away proudly, not sparing Yarden a single glance the entire time.
Just then, Timothy pulled up in his SUV, grinning as he greeted Yasin.
Once Yasin and Quinlyn got in the SUV, Yarden was left standing there alone.
More perceptive than the Guzman family's driver, Timothy didn't say another word. He simply stepped on the gas and left Yarden eating his dust.
Once in the car, Quinlyn immediately said, "Take me back to the Guzman residence."
Yasin gave her a sidelong glance.
Quinlyn, in high spirits, fished out her last two pieces of creamy candy from her pocket. "Want one?" she offered.
Just as Timothy was about to say Yasin never ate sweets, he saw Yasin calmly take one candy, unwrap it, and pop it into his mouth with apparent relish.
Yasin teased, "You're good at hiding things."
Quinlyn replied, "I just put them in my inner pocket and forgot about them."
The cloying, milky sweetness flooded Yasin's taste buds. He had always been repelled by this flavor. To him, sweetness always carried a faint bitterness beneath it. And this candy was no exception.
Quinlyn chewed her candy, her eyes crinkling with amusement as she said, "I can't wait to go back and watch Yalena's show."
She thought, 'Since Yalena has already set the stage and put on her costume, ready to perform her little act, it would be a pity if I missed it for the world.'
