Vivian smirked. "Where are you going, Jessica?"
"Restroom."
She shoved her hand into my pocket, pulling out my phone and passport. "Why take these?"
She'd confiscated everyone's IDs and phones pre-flight to "prevent slip-ups."
Caught, I dropped the act.
"I'm not going with you. I'm flying home."
"What?!" Her voice sharpened. "We're here, Jessica! You can't bail now!"
A crowd gathered. Olivia Shaw hissed:
"We're bridesmaids! Vivian needs us!"
"Her in-laws will look down on her!"
I snorted. "Can't she find random bridesmaids here? Or are we the last women on earth?"
"That's cruel!" Mia Gallagher snapped. "Vivian treats us like sisters! We're family!"
I rolled my eyes. "Funny way to treat ‘family'—building a secret chat to trash me daily."
Every face paled.
Our class had few girls.
I'd treated them like little sisters since I was two years older—gifts, trips, everything.
But while I saw friends, they saw a nuisance.
Last life, I'd found their hate group by accident.
Even my dog wasn't spared.
I'd swallowed the hurt, blaming myself for "meddling."
I'd tried harder to please them.
It got me killed.
Now, cornered by their guilt, Vivian blurted: "We made that chat for your birthday surprise!"
I raised an eyebrow. "My birthday passed. No surprise."
Vivian still wanted to protest, but someone beside her pulled her back.
"Enough, Vivian," they said. "She's convinced everyone's betrayed her. Explaining is useless. If she wants to leave, just let her go."
Another voice chimed in: "Exactly. One less person means your husband saves some money. She's the one turning down this ‘blessing'."
Everyone urged Vivian to release me.
Just as I was truly about to walk away—
her hand clamped down on mine again.
"She'll call the cops! She'll ruin my wedding!"
