Originally, they planned to have Dominic scare Arielle with a snake, let it wrap around her for a bit, or maybe even bite her.
After she was scared out of her wits, then when she returned to the classroom and saw a desk covered with rats, she'd probably be scared to death.
Even if it didn't kill her, she'd have nightmares every night.
Just the thought of punishing Arielle made them giddy with delight.
Unexpectedly, both attempts ended in failure.
'Does Arielle have some special ability or something?' Meredith couldn't help but wonder.
A flicker of disappointment crossed Meredith's eyes.
She thought, 'I thought I'd get to see a good show. She'd never suspect it was me, since we're all the way in Class Three. But in the end, nothing happened. Damn it. She got away again.'
"Thank goodness Arielle's okay," Meredith said with feigned relief, placing a hand over her heart.
Perla patted Meredith on the shoulder.
"Come on, Meredith, don't go soft on her. We're all doing this to get justice for you, so you can't show her any kindness," she urged.
Samantha Noble crossed her arms, fuming. "Damn it! How could someone like her possibly deserve to be the Bradford heiress? Just because she's in the family now doesn't mean she's really one of us. Meredith, remember, never show mercy to your enemies."
Mya Evans sneered and chimed in, "I heard Dominic and that boy were so terrified they had to be hospitalized, they won't be back for a while. Do you think Dominic's parents will come after Arielle for this?"
The girls kept badmouthing Arielle.
'Why does she look so confident and dazzling now, without a hint of that poor, pitiful vibe she used to have?' they thought bitterly, jealousy simmering beneath the surface.
That only made Perla and the others even more annoyed.
After school, the hot pink sports car appeared at the school gates again, causing quite a stir.
Students from Class 1 and Meredith's clique all stared intently at the flashy car.
With their phones ready to record, and footage from this morning in hand, they were set to post about Arielle being a sugar baby on the school forum that night.
"Her sugar daddy picks her up every day, must be 'true love'," one girl snickered.
Another sneered, "No wonder she dresses so provocatively. She's just a kid and already playing mistress for some rich guy."
"Hey, sis, I am here to pick you up," Vanna called out warmly as she stepped out of the car and waved at Arielle.
Arielle studied the woman for a moment, making sure it was really Vanna before walking over.
Vanna was now dressed casually, with just light makeup, a complete opposite to her usual glamorous look with bold lipstick and big curls.
Even Arielle barely recognized her.
She'd never seen Vanna like this before.
Arielle called out tentatively, "Vanna?"
"I will take you to get dinner first, then we'll head home together, how about that?" she smiled tenderly, every bit the warm and caring older sister.
Arielle still wasn't used to Vanna's sudden change in style and demeanor. 'What's she really up to?' she wondered, unable to figure out Vanna's intentions.
She just nodded and replied quietly, "Okay."
Arielle got in the car.
In the blink of an eye, all that was left was a flashy pink blur speeding away.
Perla and the others exchanged glances.
"Wait, where did she get a sister from?" Perla asked, turning to Meredith.
Meredith was just as confused. Arielle grew up in the slums, there was no way she could know someone that rich.
Judging by how chummy they looked, it seemed like they'd known each other for ages.
She thought, 'No wonder she's got the guts to stand up to my parents at home.'
Perla asked, "Damn it! All that filming was a waste. I thought I could use it to drag her through the mud, but turns out she's not being kept by some guy after all.
"Wait, do any of you know who that woman is? I sure don't. Driving a luxury sports car like that. She must be a big deal."
The girls returned in bitter disappointment.
Vanna had come today specifically to back Arielle up.
She knew a bit about Arielle's situation in the Bradford family. Maybe her maternal instincts were kicking in, or perhaps it had something to do with Eve, but she just couldn't stand to see her wronged.
After Vanna dropped Arielle off at the Bradford family, she drove away without another word.
Arielle glanced at the Bradford family mansion, her eyes cold and resolute. She gave herself two years. Before she turned twenty, she would make every one of her enemies pay dearly.
Every debt they owed her, she would collect, down to the last cent, with interest.
The next day, as the bell rang, their Sandolorian teacher, Luna Foster, stepped into the classroom, her high heels clicking on the floor.
The students showed no signs of settling down despite Luna's arrival, continuing their activities amidst the chaotic din.
"Quiet!" Luna said sharply, slamming her book on the lectern with a thud.
Only then did the students reluctantly end their conversations, slouching lazily in their chairs.
Luna had grown accustomed to this bunch of students' attitude.
Teaching Class 1 meant turning a blind eye and a deaf ear to everything that went on.
Her eyes instantly found the new face in the back row.
She knew right away who it must be.
She thought, 'So this is the transfer student who has made the school bullies apologize.
'She is stunning,
'This is proof that you really can't judge a book by its cover.'
All the teachers were well aware of what had happened at school over the past few days. Word spread fast. Everyone was talking about her.
Arielle's name was on everyone's lips. She'd become infamous across campus.
On her very first day, she took on the four bullies of Peterborough High School, plus a few other boys.
With so many parents present, none dared protest. They all made their kids apologize.
Just yesterday, she even wrapped a large snake around two classmates' necks.
Those two were still lying in hospital beds.
Then came the rat incident. This time, instead of fighting, she reported the boy who released the rats straight to the principal's office.
She declared, "Students as troublesome as Celeste should be expelled."
She left the principal speechless.
In the end, Celeste was punished to copy the school rules fifty times and apologize.
Beneath that delicate exterior lay a steel core.
Luna collected her thoughts and opened her textbook. "All right, class, let's begin our first lesson today..."
As soon as Arielle saw the textbook, those distant memories came flooding back.
She worked so hard just to please her parents, studying into the wee hours every night.
She'd never been to school before, and suddenly she was thrown straight into her sophomore year. Arielle was terrified she wouldn't be able to keep up.
All she wanted was for her parents to be proud of her.
She really poured her soul into studying.
Every day, she barely slept three hours, cramming years of missed knowledge.
She started all the way from elementary school.
Whenever she didn't understand something, she'd look it up online.
Maybe she was gifted. Within a month, she'd mastered all the elementary school material.
In just half a year, she taught herself everything from three years of middle school.
On her very first monthly exam, she aced it.
When she handed them her report card, she thought my parents would finally praise her.
She pictured them smiling, ruffling her hair, and telling her how proud they were.
But none of that happened.
Sharon just tossed Arielle's report card on the floor.
Henry didn't even look at it.
Back then, Sharon glared at her, grabbed hermy hair, and slammed her head against the ground.
She shrieked that Arielle was a filthy little cheat, accusing her of copying someone else's answers.
She called her a thief.
She spat that Arielle'd brought her bad habits from outside into the Bradford family.
She said Arielle was wild, and after hanging around with those lowlifes, she'd become one herself.
Arielle tried desperately to explain myself.
But no one believed her.
They all thought Arielle was just making excuses.
For the second time, she scored even better, ranking fifth in the whole school.
But she didn't dare show her report card, terrified they'd accuse her of cheating again.
Meredith ranked 200th in the school, yet her family showered her with praise for moving up ten spots.
Then came a parade of designer handbags and couture outfits, all delivered straight to her room.
Later on, Arielle ranked first in the entire school.
At the parent-teacher conference, the teacher praised her in front of everyone.
Arielle still remember the look on Sharon's face, it was absolutely awful.
It felt like Sharon didn't want her to do well at all.
Arielle realized bitterly that they were only happy when she did worse than Meredith.
