Arielle said, "Besides the 300 thousand dollars, there's something else..."
She paused, her gaze sweeping over the four of them one by one. "The loser has to get down on all fours and bark like a dog at the school gate, at high noon, when everyone's watching."
Mya immediately agreed, not giving Arielle a chance to back out. She laughed, "Deal! No begging for mercy later!"
Mya thought, 'I'm almost falling for Arielle, who would've thought she could come up with such a vicious trick?'
The rest of the group burst into laughter with her, their mocking voices filling the air.
She thought to herself, 'That's just... brilliant. Only she could come up with such a wicked idea.'
'Man, I'd kill to see that pretty girl get down on all fours and bark like a dog. Now that would be a sight to remember!'
Arielle's icy gaze watched them in silence, her eyes calm as still water.
Yet beneath that tranquil surface, a storm was gathering.
After bringing Cassandra and Phil back, her first step was to slowly destroy Meredith's image. Then came the next phase.
'Step by step, I'll make her fall from grace. Each fall will hurt more than the last, until she's utterly broken. That's when the real fun begins,' Arielle thought.
Mya added with a smirk, "If you lose, not only do you owe us 300 thousand dollars and have to bark like a dog, but you'll also be our personal servant for a whole month. Whatever we say, you do, no objections. Deal?"
Everyone gasped. "These terms are way too vague!"
"What if they tell her to jump off a building, does she really have to do it?" someone questioned, "Or what if they make her eat... you know, something disgusting? Is she supposed to go along with that, too?"
That was exactly what Mya had in mind, which was to humiliate Arielle thoroughly.
Perla, who had remained silent until now, tugged at Mya's sleeve and whispered, "I doubt she'll agree to this."
Some students murmured in alarm, "Don't agree, they're obviously twisting the rules!"
Needless to say, the Peterborough Four were absolutely stoked when they overheard the conversation. Finally, someone was stepping up to put Arielle in her place.
Just as everyone thought Arielle would refuse, she suddenly spoke up. "Fine, but I'm adding one more condition, on top of the two I mentioned earlier. If you lose, you'll have to streak at the school gate for ten minutes."
They thought, 'Streaking? I can't believe she actually suggested something so shameless.
'This is freaking insane!
'This is a school, not a beach where you can flaunt your body in a bikini without a care in the world.'
The group was momentarily stunned by the topic, left speechless and unable to react.
"Come on, we're all classmates. What's the point of being at each other's throats like this?" Meredith said with feigned concern, though excitement flickered deep in her eyes.
She thought gleefully, 'I couldn't wait for Arielle to propose such terms. If that little bitch really has to streak naked in front of everyone at the school gate, how could she ever show her face in the Bradford family again?
"I wouldn't even need to lift a finger. She'd be so humiliated that she'd slink away from Peterborough High School and the Bradford family with her tail between her legs."
Hearing Meredith's reminder, Patricia sneered. "Fine. But if you lose, you'll be the one streaking. Deal?"
Arielle swept her gaze over everyone present, her voice cool. "Alright, are you all in? Do you accept the challenge and these terms?"
Everyone looked at her like she was an idiot.
Someone scoffed, "What a joke. Like there's anything we'd be afraid of."
Every single one of them had better grades than her, especially Patricia, who consistently ranked in the top three in class.
They felt that Arielle was doomed to lose this time.
It was precisely because Patricia was with them that they felt so confident.
Samantha and Mya shared a triumphant look, their scheme to goad Patricia into challenging Arielle had worked perfectly.
Mya sneered, "Damn right.
"With all these people watching, don't even think about weaseling out of it. Deal."
Arielle's lips curled into a knowing smirk. "Let's get this in black and white," she said.
She picked up a pen and swiftly drafted a betting contract.
She made two identical copies.
Under the watchful eyes of the entire class, they took the contract.
The group huddled together, scrutinizing every clause.
After giving their nods of approval, each signed their name one by one.
Meredith dawdled with the pen, refusing to sign.
She hesitated, putting on a show of being a "dutiful little sister" and "loyal best friend," torn between both sides.
Arielle wasn't about to let her off the hook, and Meredith herself wouldn't pass up a chance to humiliate Arielle, either.
With some encouragement from Mya and Patricia, Meredith finally signed her name.
Perla shot Arielle a disdainful look. "Don't be ungrateful. Meredith's always been kind, treating you like a sister and putting you first in everything."
Arielle thought, 'See? These people!
'It's not just me who had been blinded. So many others have fallen for Meredith's lies.
'Her level of manipulation is beyond what most people can handle.
'Isn't all of this thanks to her?'
"Kindness? What a joke," Arielle sneered.
Hearing the mockery in her voice, the crowd erupted in fury. "She won't even spare her own sister, what a cold-hearted bitch!"
Just then, Mike, who had just arrived, stepped forward to stop Meredith. "Don't sign this," he urged.
"You're sisters. Whoever loses, it'll damage your relationship," he added.
The contract signing was filmed by other students and quickly went viral across campus.
The whole school was buzzing about the bet, after all, the thought of someone actually streaking at school was just too juicy to miss.
The guys were practically cheering, while the girls gritted their teeth, hating Arielle and secretly hoping to see her utterly humiliated.
Back in the classroom, Mya and the others were absolutely ecstatic.
Huddled together, they were already scheming about how humiliated Arielle would look after losing the bet.
Samantha sneered, tilting her chin up triumphantly. "I don't care about anything else. I just want to see her streak in front of the whole school, let's see if she'll ever dare show her face here again!"
Perla immediately chimed in, "Exactly! Can't believe she actually dared to propose such savage terms, our reverse psychology worked like a charm! All credit to Samantha for this brilliant scheme."
Mya beamed triumphantly, whipped out her phone, and opened WeChat. "Girls, I'm over the moon today! Let's celebrate!" she announced.
She grinned wickedly. "I'm gonna buy a high-resolution camera. I want her nude photos to be crystal clear. After all, these are her nudes. Hehe."
Mya said with a sly grin, "All thanks to Samantha egging Patricia on. Otherwise, Arielle wouldn't have taken the bait. She's always wary of us, but she let her guard down around Patricia since they have no bad blood. That's how our plan worked."
She quickly added, "Just make sure Patricia doesn't find out about this, or she'll never speak to me again."
Meredith stood quietly to the side, listening to the gossip without saying a word.
A perfectly calculated look of concern played across her face.
Perla immediately tried to comfort her, "Meredith, I know you hesitated to sign just now because you wanted to preserve your sisterly bond, but she's never really treated you like a sister. Why bother calling her your big sister?
"Honestly, Meredith, you really need to change that personality of yours, you know. You always let her walk all over you. At school, we can help you out, but what about at home? Are you just going to let her keep bullying you?
"Don't worry, if she loses this time, you can just hide out in the classroom and skip the whole scene. We'll take plenty of photos and videos and show them to you afterward."
Meredith let out a heavy, theatrical sigh. "I feel so awful. Why does your sister have to be so stubbornly proud? How could she possibly win, anyway?"
The girls crowded around her, showering her with comfort, none realizing how delighted she really was inside.
Little did they know, Meredith was absolutely thrilled inside. She could barely contain her glee.
