Looking back at my past life's timeline, Jaxon was definitely supposed to blow up overnight. But there was a catch.
My big brother Kyle Marshall wasn't just anyone—he was the CEO of a major film studio. When he gave an order, what media outlet would dare defy him?
With countless accounts pushing Jaxon simultaneously, how could he not go viral? And let's not forget my fourth brother, Nathan Marshall—the undisputed king of social media. A single post from him could rack up billions of shares. He even made a deliberate appearance in Jaxon's livestream.
With that kind of firepower behind him, Jaxon was guaranteed to skyrocket to fame.
But right now...
I looked up coolly. "My apologies. It just occurred to me that I've been too busy these past two years to take on new talent. Consider our previous agreement void. What compensation amount would you consider fair?"
My anger was palpable.
The manager's face darkened instantly.
Jaxon, tonight's award ceremony did allow family invitations—but not just anyone qualifies. I pulled strings to secure those two spots, and now they're gone. Since that's how you want to play it, consider our partnership terminated.
He stormed off in a huff.
Within hours, Jaxon's rookie award was revoked, and his account got banned from the platform. The millions of followers he'd painstakingly built? Gone in an instant.
"Madison, I've had enough of you. We're getting a divorce!" Jaxon snarled right at the event, his expression thunderous.
Madison froze like she'd been slapped. "What did you just say?"
"I said I want a divorce, you idiot! If you won't agree, then we'll just go our separate ways. From now on, stay the hell out of my life!"
Then Jaxon's gaze swept across the room—and landed on me in the front row. Suddenly all humble smiles, he started making his way toward me, probably to invite me to dinner.
Madison saw this.
Like a woman possessed, she came charging at me, screaming, "Charlotte, you bitch! How dare you seduce my husband! Jaxon is mine! Mine, do you understand?!"
Before I could even respond, Jaxon struck.
He hit her with full force.
Madison's lip split open, blood trickling down as she collapsed at my feet with a heavy thud.
Now this is a gift I can work with.
Jaxon pinned Madison down by the neck, his voice dripping with venom. "You worthless trash! Apologize to Ms. Clark right now, or I'll make you regret ever being born!"
Madison trembled violently, her eyes burning with murderous rage.
I smirked. "Got divorced again?"
Only she would catch the barb in my words.
In my past life, she'd stolen Lyriana's most eligible bachelor, thinking it meant she could trample over me—only to get dumped and publicly humiliated. Now in this life, she jumped at the chance to steal my husband, convinced she'd win this time. Look how that turned out.
"Starting to get the picture?" I added with an icy stare. "Trash will always be trash."
That sent Madison over the edge.
She lunged at me like a rabid animal. "Charlotte, I'll kill you!"
I deliberately held my ground.
In situations like this, sometimes you take a small hit to create a bigger spectacle. I wasn't about to let her frame me again like last time.
Amid the chaos, Madison grabbed a chair and swung it at my head—
"Touch her and you die!"
Two women materialized out of nowhere.
They moved with lethal precision. Within seconds, they had Madison pinned face-down on the floor.
"You okay?" one asked, genuine concern in her voice.
Ah. Dominic's bodyguards.
"I'm fine, thanks," I said, already dialing the police.
With dozens of witnesses and video evidence of Madison's repeated outbursts, the cops arrived swiftly.
Madison threw a spectacular tantrum at the station, still convinced Jaxon would be trending by morning. She ranted about incompetent staff failing to recognize his "genius."
The truth would hit her too late.
By dawn, not only did Jaxon fail to blow up—he got arrested as her accomplice for attempted assault.
"Impossible! This can't be happening! He was supposed to go viral today!" Madison shrieked, frantically checking her phone.
The internet backlash was brutal.
Comments flooded in calling her "delusional" and "a walking disaster." Some even tagged cyber police: [This woman's clearly unhinged. Someone check her meds!]
[I'm not crazy!] Madison screamed back. [I'm the only sane one here! You all only remember one lifetime—I've lived two!]
Convinced I'd orchestrated everything, Madison's meltdown got her dragged to a psych ward for evaluation.
Whether she was actually ill or not, her behavior was undeniably unhinged. The doctors decided she needed observation.
Even when Thomas and Sarah came rushing in with desperate pleas, Madison still got committed.
What company would accept a CEO with mental health issues?
The Clark Group had no choice but to return to Thomas's hands.
A year under Madison's "leadership" had left it in shambles. Now? Drowning in high-interest loans.
That $10 million invested in Jaxon? Completely wiped out. Thomas looked ready to have a stroke.
Suddenly, Sarah remembered I was her biological daughter.
She came at me with fake tears. "Charlotte, Madison isn't ill! She didn't mean to hurt you—she just speaks without thinking! Besides, you're fine, right? We're family. Just write a letter of understanding so they'll release her."
I nearly laughed. So because I didn't die, my attacker's innocent now? What kind of twisted logic is that?
When I didn't move, Sarah's mask slipped. "Charlotte! Your sister's being locked up and you're just sitting there? Write that letter now!"
I blinked. "Amnesia must run in the family. Need a reminder that I'm the victim here? You demand I exonerate my attacker—and you say it like you're doing me a favor? What gave you the audacity?"
"You—how dare you!" Sarah's hand flew up to strike me—
Thomas jumped in with fake diplomacy. "Now now, we're family! Fights happen, but blood runs deeper. Charlotte, just write the letter and we'll make it worth your while."
His transparent bribery only fueled my anger.
"Why would I? I've disowned you as parents. Why would I lift a finger for some random Madison?"
Sarah swung at me again.
I coldly laughed. "Like mother, like daughter. At first, I considered forgiving her if she'd genuinely apologized. But now? Let her rot in that psych ward. Your favoritism and arrogance sealed her fate."
I walked out despite their protests.
Next morning, headlines across Lyriana blared: [Clark Group Chairman Rushed to Hospital in Critical Condition.]
By the time I still hadn't reacted, Thomas gave a tearful hospital interview:
"...My dying wish is to see my daughter one last time."
Cue public outrage painting me as the heartless villain.
Sarah played the martyr: "Don't blame Charlotte. It's not her fault we're poor and powerless. Now that she's climbed the social ladder, of course she looks down on us. We don't ask for much—just one visit..."
