Ethan barely glanced up, his attention laser-focused on the documents in front of him. He scrutinized every line, every curve of my signature, as if expecting some last-minute trick. When he finally leaned back, a smug grin tugged at his lips, and he exhaled like a man who'd just dodged a bullet.
"Olivia, I'm finally free. Now I can marry you," he said, voice oozing satisfaction.
Olivia practically vibrated with excitement, her grin matching his. "Ethan, I've waited years for this! But first—" Her grip tightened on his arm, her eyes locking onto mine with icy amusement. "—we have a little pest to deal with. She's still here, still threatening us."
She tilted her head, mocking. "Well? If you've got something to say, now's your chance. I'd love to hear how you'll spin your lies this time."
Ethan scoffed. "Thirty seconds, Elena. If this is another pathetic attempt to scare us, security's tossing you out. Today's celebration is for the real beta of the Silverfang Pack—Olivia. You're nothing here anymore."
The crowd watched me like I was a sideshow act, smirks plastered on their faces.
But I didn't answer them. Instead, I turned to the two people I'd once called Mom and Dad.
Not anymore.
"Dad. Mom. Maybe it's time you told them."
Ethan's glare could've cut glass. "Shut your mouth! You don't get to call them that!"
Olivia, ever the actress, patted his arm soothingly while signaling the enforcers. "Ethan, darling, don't waste your breath. Let's just get her out of here before she ruins everything."
"Enough."
Alpha Aiden Grey's voice cracked through the room like a whip. The crowd froze. Even Olivia snapped her mouth shut.
Eight years of silent authority radiated off him, and the tension thickened until you could taste it.
Then he spoke.
"Eight years ago, Ethan had a minor medical procedure. That's when we discovered he wasn't our biological son. Our real child—our heir—was switched at birth. Elena is our blood. Our only heir."
The room erupted. Gasps, murmurs, chairs scraping back. Ethan stumbled like he'd been shoved, face paling.
"That's bullshit!" he spat. "Dad, are you serious? Elena's been sucking up to you for years! You can't just—I'm your son! The one you raised!"
But my father just looked at him—long, heavy, disappointed.
"When we found Elena, we should've done the right thing then. But we'd grown attached to you. So we begged her to stay. To keep our family together."
My mother's eyes glistened, regret and something darker swimming in them.
"You think Elena washed our feet, ran the company, married you—just to win our favor?" Her voice broke. "She did it because she loved us. Because she wanted to make up for lost time. She's everything an heir should be."
She turned to the stunned crowd. "Elena didn't become beta because she married Ethan. She is the Silverfang heir. And this position—all of it—belongs to her."
