Daniella was sent to the maids' quarters on the first floor. She didn't dare get up when the maids did, so she curled up in bed.
The room was only about a dozen square meters, and all her clothes were stuffed into a single suitcase. Daniella never imagined she would end up in this situation.
Though Christian had tried to help, Gabriel wouldn't allow it, and Wyatt silently approved of Gabriel's actions.
After staying in the room for a while, the door was suddenly knocked on. Daniella froze for a moment, not making a sound. She stared fixedly at the door.
The knocking turned into pounding. Someone outside shouted, "Why's the door shut? Do you still think you're some kind of lady? Open the door, now."
The Gibson family's maids were also the type to bully the weak and fear the strong.
When Daniella was still the family's favorite, the servants treated her very well. But now, just because she was kicked out of her old room, they immediately started bullying her.
Daniella got up and opened the door. The people who had once bowed and scraped before her now looked at her with contempt.
Daniella said coldly, "What do you want?"
"You still think you're the Gibson family's little darling? Now you're just a burden, discarded by your family and stuck in the maid's quarters. Show us some respect," Cathy—Cathy Fisher—mocked.
Before Daniella could respond, the other maids barged in and shoved her to the floor.
Maids began to mock her. "Daniella, you've been living in Gibson Villa all this time and still don't know we have to get up at six to clean?"
"Doesn't matter if we're cleaning the maid's quarters or another room, it's all the same. Why's your door closed? You too embarrassed to face us?"
"Of course she does. Last night, she was beaten terribly by Mr. Gibson. Now she's in the same position as the rest of us."
The maids all chimed in. Daniella thought about how Gabriel had hit her the night before, and now the maids all knew, she felt so humiliated.
As they cleaned, the maids kept gossiping. "You think she could really end up like us someday?"
"Every time she cried and framed Abigail, she should've known this would happen. If she hadn't pushed Abigail out, she wouldn't have ended up like this."
Daniella felt like their words were daggers.
She clenched her fists but still didn't say anything, just listening to their sarcastic remarks.
Once the maids finished cleaning, Cathy turned to Daniella and said, "Daniella, from now on, you better open the door at six."
Another maid chimed in, "Hiding won't help, everyone in the Gibson family knows you're about to be kicked out. Instead of hiding, just accept it."
Daniella's eyes were red, but she couldn't argue. At that moment, Christian barged in, shoved Cathy aside, and slapped her across the face.
He said, "The Gibson family hasn't said they're kicking her out. What nonsense are you talking about? If you say anything like this again, I'll fire you!"
Cathy wasn't one to back down. She immediately dropped the rag she was holding and ran out crying.
By the time it was just before six-thirty, everyone in Gibson Villa had been woken up by the commotion.
Cathy had worked for the Gibson family for over ten years. Now, crying, she was demanding to quit. The other maids joined in, staging a strike.
Gabriel came downstairs in his pajamas, furious. "What's going on?" They usually didn't get up until seven-thirty or eight. Daniella only spent one night in the maid's room, and there was trouble.
Before Christian could speak, Cathy got there first. "We were just following the cleaning schedule. We start at six-thirty from the maid's quarters."
She continued, "Daniella wouldn't open the door, so we said a few words, and she started acting pitiful, making Mr. Christian Gibson think we were bullying her."
Christian shouted, "You didn't bully her? You said she was going to be kicked out—"
"When did we ever say that? Daniella has lived in Gibson Villa for over twenty years. We know this is just a temporary punishment, and she even told us herself. We'd never dare disrespect the honorable Ms. Daniella Gibson," said Cathy.
Cathy was eloquent, and the other maids agreed with her.
"Yeah, we've always shown the utmost respect to Ms. Daniella Gibson. Mr. Christian Gibson, you weren't home much, but Mr. Stephen Gibson knows everything."
"Exactly. Every time she went after Ms. Abigail Gibson, she'd pretend to be the one getting bullied, and she even had us testify for her. We all backed her up."
Christian was livid, completely enraged by the maids.
