I clapped my hands together, grinning from ear to ear. "Could that be my roast suckling pig delivery? Someone should really get the door - that pig's gotta weigh a ton!"
The reaction was priceless. Logan hit the floor like a sack of potatoes while Scott made a mad dash for the bathroom, retching into the toilet. I had to bite my cheek to keep from laughing out loud. Perfect.
Funny how different their reactions were this time around. Back when I'd been trapped in Jessica's body as a roast pig, they'd dug in without a second thought. So what changed now? The irony wasn't lost on me.
When neither moved to answer the door, I wiped the cream from my fingers and sauntered over myself. Turned out to be just the building manager.
The instant they realized no pork delivery had arrived, Logan and Scott visibly deflated with relief. But the moment the door closed, Scott lunged at me, grabbing my collar with white-knuckled fury. "Where the hell did you take Lulu? If you've hurt her, I swear to God—"
I blinked up at him with practiced innocence. "It's just a pig, right? I'll buy you another one. Why are you making such a scene?"
Scott looked ready to explode, but Logan jumped in, clamping a hand over his mouth. "Scott's just upset," he said through gritted teeth, straining to keep his voice level. "Lulu's new owner is coming soon. There's no time to replace her."
The way Logan's jaw twitched as he forced calm gave me a rush of satisfaction. I tilted my head. "You're seriously overreacting. It was just a joke. When you two were out this afternoon, Lulu trashed my room again. The neighbor said she's in heat, so I sent her to mate." I let that sink in before adding, "Since you're so attached, why not breed a few more? Save you the cleanup trouble. I mean, you might not mind the mess, but it's disgusting."
Earlier, Logan had been so paranoid I'd hurt Jessica that he'd locked her in his room. The second he left? I called the best locksmith in town.
The pig had packed on serious pounds since I'd last seen her. I didn't waste time - called the farm I'd scouted and had her shipped out immediately. By now, hours later, those industrial-strength hormones would've done their work.
Last life, Jessica turned me into literal pork roast for everyone's dinner. This time? I figured letting her live through pig motherhood was mercy enough.
Logan went rigid, his eyes widening in horror. Scott practically foamed at the mouth demanding the farm's address.
As they scrambled to leave, I couldn't resist one last dig. "Scott, might want to hold off. Lulu's right in the middle of her cycle - if you drag her back now, she might never forgive you."
The looks on their faces? Absolutely delicious.
Sweet, sweet payback.
