Just thinking about how two-faced Jaxon was made Sally absolutely furious.
Exasperated, Sally simply tossed her phone into her handbag and didn't spare it another glance.
As soon as Sally got home, Abigail suddenly showed up carrying a huge crystal cross and set it down right in the middle of the attic floor.
Sally was restoring Jaxon's Madonna Locket when she glanced over curiously. "Whose is this?" she asked.
Abigail said, "It's from a regular client. His kid broke this cross. He looked all over Westmere for someone to fix it, but everyone said it couldn't be done. When he heard you were taking orders again, he came to me right away. Do you think you can fix it?"
Sally crouched down and examined it carefully. Then she gave a slight nod. "Yes, it's doable, but it won't be quick. I'd estimate it'll take about ten days."
Abigail said, "The client said time isn't an issue, as long as it can be properly restored."
"Alright." Sally nodded. "Just let him know to come pick it up in about ten days. As for the price, discuss it with him. Just make sure it's no less than the market rate."
Abigail nodded. "Alright."
After Abigail left, Sally got back to work, ready to keep fixing Jaxon's crystalware.
But then, the words she'd heard at the hospital earlier that day suddenly flashed through Sally's mind.
Somehow, she didn't feel like fixing this for him anymore.
At least for now, she really didn't feel like working on this.
After all, the sooner she finished restoring it, the faster things might progress between Jaxon and Kendall.
At this crucial moment, with things between Jaxon and her already so ambiguous, there was no way she was going to let their relationship progress any faster.
Sally set aside the Madonna Locket and, without a second thought, tossed it back into the drawer before turning her attention to the crystal cross.
After a brief moment of contemplation, Sally quickly set up her phone and began filming herself while restoring the crystal cross.
It wasn't until around midnight that Sally finally finished editing the footage she'd shot that evening and posted it online.
She glanced down at her follower count. She now had 230,000 followers.
Her inbox was flooded with DMs from followers, many apparently hoping she could restore crystal pieces for themselves or their family members.
Sally thought to herself, 'Looks like going the social media route is the right move after all.
'At the very least, this is helping me open up new opportunities for my career.'
Meanwhile, at the Zale Group headquarters, the clock on the desk showed 1:00 AM.
Jaxon's phone buzzed with a notification, drawing his gaze away from the computer screen to the phone beside him.
He thought for a second that Sally had finally replied, but to his disappointment, it was just a new short video from Hazel, the creator he followed.
He didn't care about social media until Caleb told him Hazel had started a short video account. Then he signed up, just to follow her. She was the only one he followed. He even set up alerts so he wouldn't miss any of her videos.
Whenever Hazel posted a short video, his phone would buzz with a notification.
After opening the video, Jaxon saw Hazel restoring a crystal cross with some pretty serious cracks. It was clearly an exceptionally challenging job.
After watching the video, Jaxon frowned slightly.
Caleb, standing beside him, noticed the change in Jaxon's expression and asked with concern, "Is something wrong, Mr. Zale?"
Jaxon frowned and muttered, "Aren't masters like her supposed to follow the first-come, first-served rule? My Madonna Locket hasn't even been repaired yet, so why is she working on someone else's crystal cross instead?"
Caleb glanced down at Jaxon's phone and said calmly, "Is it possible she's working on both of the items simultaneously?"
Jaxon froze for a second. "She's really that skilled?"
"Yes..." Caleb nodded without hesitation. "When I consulted various crystalware restoration masters about the Madonna Locket, they all said Hazel is legendary in the industry. Anything others can't fix becomes flawlessly restored once it's in her hands."
After hearing Caleb's words, Jaxon nodded thoughtfully.
Jaxon said, "Well then, I'm quite looking forward to seeing how my Madonna Locket will turn out after Hazel's restoration."
Caleb said, "I'm sure it'll be absolutely flawless too."
Jaxon frowned again, "Is my Madonna Locket not good enough to show off? Isn't it worth more than that crystal cross? So why won't she film the restoration of mine?"
Caleb froze for a split second. That was something he hadn't considered.
"Do you think she hasn't even started restoring mine at all?" Jaxon's expression suddenly darkened.
"That's impossible, Mr. Zale," Caleb responded solemnly. "I'll follow up with her for you."
"I've tried urging her, but it doesn't seem to work," Jaxon said, pushing his tongue against his cheek as a sardonic smile played at his lips. "What's Hazel's deal, anyway? She hasn't shown her face, not even once."
Caleb shook his head. "No clue who she really is. She's definitely mysterious, but there's no denying she's got serious skills."
Jaxon watched the video intently. Suddenly, he noticed that the flooring in her place looked strangely familiar.
He reviewed Hazel's earlier videos. He noticed that while her hands were always shown, the flooring in her home was never visible.
Lost in thought, Jaxon suddenly had an image flash through his mind.
He thought, 'Why does the flooring in Hazel's place look strikingly similar to Sally's attic floor?'
Caleb asked, "Mr. Zale, should we continue with the meeting?"
Just as Jaxon was about to delve deeper into his thoughts, Caleb's familiar voice snapped him out of his reverie.
Snapping out of his thoughts, Jaxon looked up at Caleb standing before him.
After a brief pause, Jaxon shook his head. "It's getting late. Let's call it a day. We'll discuss this tomorrow."
"Mr. Zale, are you planning to crash in the lounge again tonight?" asked Caleb.
"Yeah." Jaxon quickly put down his phone and headed for the lounge. "It's the middle of the night, and there's no one waiting for me at home anyway. So what's the point of going back?"
Caleb watched Jaxon walk away, feeling a strange pang of sympathy.
He thought, 'Although Mr. Zale has never mentioned anything to me, after working by his side for so long, I can still sense his particular interest in Mrs. Zale. There are so many pretty women out there. Why did he fall for her...'
Jaxon tossed and turned in bed, unable to fall asleep.
He opened WhatsApp and, almost without thinking, tapped on his chat window with Sally.
The last message in their chat was still the one he'd sent earlier that evening.
She ignored his calls and hadn't even replied to his text.
Jaxon just couldn't figure it out.
After work the next day, Sally carried her medical kit and headed to the Zale family house for Howard's scheduled follow-up medical checkup.
Just as Sally stepped through the front gate, she saw Brad pulling Lena close under the old oak tree. The two stood close, talking about something.
"Sally? What brings you here?" Lena was the first to notice Sally. Looking up with curiosity, she widened her eyes in unmistakable surprise.
Sally said, "Shouldn't I be the one asking you that, Lena? What are you doing here?"
