The anger still flooded through his veins. Juice could see it in his eyes, in the aggressive way he rinsed the plates, in his tense shoulders. It shimmered through every word he said.
From behind, he wrapped his arms around his boyfriend and kissed his neck. Raine needed to relax. He needed to deal with everything that had happened. Something that was difficult when you'd pledged allegiance to a motor club, turning it into your highest priority.
"Let's go somewhere."
Raine looked over his shoulder. "Where? It's almost 10."
"You'll see.' With Raine still locked in his arms, Juice stepped back, pulling the man with him. After a few steps, Juice tripped over his feet. He tightened his grasp around Raine, who was leaning against him.
They fell on the floor and Juice's head hit the laminate. Even though he broke Raine's fall, the sudden weight on his leg was anything but pleasant and he gritted his teeth.
Seriously, Juice? You really think this is the best moment to get a concussion?
With a grunt, Juice sat up straight, rubbing his head.
Raine didn't bother to get off him, instead, he leaned over him. "What's your big plan, huh? Spendin' another night in the hospital?" A grin crossed his lips.
And there it was, a little bit of the old Raine.
Juice forgot about the pain instantly. He wanted to get up, but Raine placed a hand on his chest and pushed him back against the floor. Raine hovered over him until he reached Juice's lips. It were butterfly kisses he left on Juice's lips, teasing, and each soft touch causing tinglings across his skin. They awakened a slumbering longing.
"Raine..." he whispered.
His boyfriend looked at him, but Juice didn't know what to say.
For a moment they stared into each other's eyes. Then, Raine lowered himself on top of him, his hand caressing the side of Juice's face before their lips melted into a heated kiss.
The floor was anything but comfortable, but Juice forgot about it once a blistering heat took over his body. His hands glided to Raine's behind and he pushed his lover closer, a moan escaping his lips as the bulge in his pants rubbed Raine's.
"Oh fuck," he sighed.
Raine's lips moved to his neck, where his teeth, lips and tongue almost led him to ecstasy. He moved his hips, searching for friction, for a shared rhythm.
His heart was about to explode when he heard Raine moan.
"I want you," Raine whispered. "I want you so bad."
Juice wanted him too. He wanted to feel him everywhere; his lips on his skin, his fingers gliding across his muscles, his heat deep inside him.
Yet, his hips stilled and he caressed Raine's jaw. "I want you too." It was true — maybe, this was even the first time the thought of being intimately entwined with a man didn't call up the slightest bit of revulsion. "But I don't think this is the right moment."
They'd wanted to wait. When everything was great between them, they'd wanted to wait.
It felt stupid to change their minds, especially now they were repairing their relationship.
He smiled at his boyfriend while his fingers traveled across the stubble on his jaw. "The past weeks you felt so much anger... I get that you're overwhelmed by other feelings now — nicer feelings. And that you want to do anything to keep these feelings. But I'm not leaving, Raine, this between us won't go away and it will only grow stronger. I think it's better to take things slow so that we'll become more than a toy of our emotions."
Raine stared at him in silence.
This time, Juice found it hard to interpret his glance. A blush crept to his cheeks. "You disagree?"
Raine shook his head slowly as if he was shaking his thoughts off. "No, you're right." He smiled a bit sad. "This is why I need you so bad and why I love you so damn much. Because you know what I need — you know it better than me."
Juice chuckled quietly, although his words touched his heart. If anything, he always had the feeling that Raine knew what he needed instead of the other way around. Hearing how Raine felt about him filled him with a strange sense of pride.
We belong together.
He literally felt how the cracks in his heart were healed.
"You're making me shy," he said with a grin.
Raine smirked back. He gave him another long kiss before he got up. "Well — then you better show me what I really need."
. . .
Despite the late hour, there was still a movie playing. The title didn't ring a bell but it sounded like an action movie.
Juice bought them two beers and a large tub of popcorn. For a moment he hesitated, wondering if sharing popcorn was lame, but it was a romantic cliche he'd never done and right now, very cheesy romance sounded just right. He just wanted to do what normal couples did.
The room was half full. They took their seats in front of some noisy teenagers who reminded him of his high school friends. He caught himself feeling relieved for not holding hands so that they looked like normal friends. The last thing he wanted, was to get rude comments.
Juice flopped down on the seat and put the tub of popcorn on the broad armrest.
"I'm surprised you didn't get us the love seats in the back," Raine said with a little grin.
"I didn't even know these things existed. Last time I went to the movies is about ten years ago."
"Really?" Raine seemed surprised. "Rosa loved movies. We often went to the theater."
Juice hadn't known. A little worried he studied Raine's face. The last thing he wanted was to confront Raine with painful memories. "I didn't know that," he said quietly.
"That's why I tell you this. I'd like to continue our monthly tradition with you." Raine winked at him.
Juice smiled in relief, glad that he hadn't accidentally caused his boyfriend a bad mood.
Raine grabbed his phone to switch off the sound, then he made a selfie. "We barely have pictures," he said. "And the few I had, I deleted." For a moment, pain flashed across his face but it took only a second before his grin returned. "But now everyone knows about us, I wanna have a hot wallpaper of you. Naked on your Harley."
Juice's cheeks heated up and he elbowed his boyfriend's side.
Laughing, Raine wrapped an arm around him. His lips touched Juice's cheekbone briefly.
Suddenly, something cold splashed on their shoulders.
"Go somewhere else, faggots," a snide voice sounded behind them.
Raine spun around, a transparent substance glistening on his neck. "Come again?" The biker stood up.
Juice also turned around, his arm dangling over the backrest of the seat.
A fifteen-year-old kid looked at his friends for help.
"What are you doing," the boy next to him hissed, his eyes glued to the Reaper on Juice's forearm. "He's a Son, you idiot. You have a death wish?"
Juice's eyes flashed to Raine, afraid these kids were challenging his self-control. Luckily, he was calm. A scornful grin crossed his lips.
"A Son and a Mayan, you little shit. Where's your big mouth now?"
The kid's face turned almost purple. "I — I didn't know," he stammered.
"You didn't know what?"
Raine's voice sounded so arrogant Juice could hardly keep his laughter to himself.
"I... nothing. I'm sorry, sir."
Raine grabbed Juice's collar, pulled him close and roughly pressed his lips against Juice's. Juice felt his legs go weak; he needed to get used to Raine's lips again. He let his boyfriend inside and kissed him back with a passion that undoubtedly contributed to the sexual education of these kids.
Sooner than desired — for the commercials came to an end and the movie started to play — Raine ended the kiss.
"I kiss my man where and whenever I want, you got that?"
"Y-yes," the boy floundered.
"Good. Now get us something to clean up the shit you poured on us."
The boy tripped over his feet as he struggled past his friends to leave the row.
Raine sat down and chuckled. "Idiots."
Juice shook his head, grinning, the kiss still burning on his lips.
While Juice hadn't wanted to hold Raine's hand to avoid confrontations, Raine had simply kissed him to make a point.
And it felt amazing.
. . .
Two hours later they left the movies. The movie was nice; it hadn't been a masterpiece but they'd enjoyed themselves and it felt like they had taken another step towards each other.
When they arrived at their bikes, Juice wrapped his arms around Raine's waist. "You're going home or do you wanna stay?"
Raine rested his forehead against Juice's. "I was thinking about staying a few days at your place. I need some distance from the club."
"Will they let you?"
"I don't care. As long as we're not in deep shit, they'll do fine without me. I'm not ready to face that shithead again."
"I get that." Juice gave him a pensive look. "I haven't been the best brother lately. I can't stay away."
"I don't mind. Get to work — at least we'll see each other in the evening. I'll take Sasha with me if you don't mind, so Sammy has some time alone. I'm sure there's plenty to do around Charming."
Juice liked the idea of Raine staying with them for a few days. The thought that the man would be waiting for him when he came home and that he would just be... near, made his heart beat faster.
"Sounds good. Mouse has a day off too tomorrow, I'm sure she wants to go out with you. She missed you too."
Raine lifted the corner of his mouth. "Awesome. Then I'll pick up Sasha tomorrow. She misses you."
Juice smiled. "I miss her too."
Raine smiled back. His nose brushed Juice's. "Let's go home. There's something else I've missed."
"Oh?" Juice gave him a questioning look. "What's that?"
Raine kissed him, playfully nipping at his bottom lip without taking his eyes off Juice's eyes. "Your bed..."
