"I honestly don't think this is a good idea!" Jisoo put her hand on Jennie's shoulder.
"Would you quit being a baby?!" Jennie asked.
Rosie shoved Jisoo's arm playfully, "It'll be fun." She smirked, making Jisoo more scared.
"I'm agreeing with Jisoo on this one." Lisa held onto Jisoo's arm looking like a cat that was in a dark corner, alone.
The three girls were standing at the gate of the old abandoned house that no one in their town dared to enter. This wasn't just any house though; the house was claimed to be haunted by the ghosts of the Adams family. That's what the street was named after, the Adams family that refused to leave their house during the First World War. They locked themselves in the dark home and starved to death. The myth is that they still try and protect their house today...
... but as ghosts.
"You know what! You can get yourselves killed. I'm leaving!" Jisoo turned around and walked away from the three girls.
"Ugh! She's always such a fun sucker!" Jennie moaned.
"Are you going with her?" Rosie looked at Lisa, who was now clinging to her arm.
"Come on, you're not going to be a tot too?" Jennie bit her lower lip, "Are you?"
Lisa held tighter onto Rosie's arm.
"Leave her, Jen." Rosie rolled her eyes, "You can go too if you really want-"
Rosie got cut off by the sound of rustling just around the corner.
"Shhhh," Jennie put her finger on her mouth with a grin.
She loved whenever there was action. It got her adrenaline going.
"I can't die yet." Lisa whispered, "We're only seventeen."
"Would you shut up!" Rosie shout-whispered to both of them.
She slowly picked up a long stick she had her eye on since they arrived at the front gate. The noise got louder, and they could now hear faint voices.
Rosie noticed a shadow, and when it finally came around the corner she took a big swing of the stick.
The figure bent down and winced in pain.
It was a human?
Rosie dropped the stick and covered her mouth with both her hands, "Oh my gosh! I'm sorry."
"Yah, Kook, you OK?" another man came out from where the man Rosie just hit come from.
"Yep!" He was still bending down with his arms wrapped around his stomach, "Who the fuck carries around a stick!" His voice was raspy from the pain.
Rosie felt offended. It was defense, self-defense. Her dad taught her because of the world we live in today.
"I thought you were a ghost." She snapped back.
He slowly started to straighten out his body, "Yeah, and a stick will go through a bloody ghost Einstein!"
Rosie was about to fight back, but Jennie put her hand over Rosie's mouth before she could say anything more.
"I'm Jennie," Jennie held out her hand- that wasn't covering Rosie's mouth, "This is Rosie and Lisa. Are you, by any chance, going into the house?"
The two men looked at each other and then back at Jennie.
"I heard a yell, is it safe?" a loud whisper echoed from the side of the fence the boys just came from.
"It's just more people trying to break in." The tall man- that wasn't hit by Rosie's stick- answered the voice.
"Great!" A shorter man came out. He had blonde hair and sparkly eyes.
"Wow!" Jennie's eyes widened, "I didn't think angels could roam around haunted houses." Her hand dropped from Rosie's mouth as she stared in awe.
"Why, thank you!" He smiled a white teethed grin.
Rosie rolled her eyes, "Are we going in or not?!"
"We haven't even introduced ourselves, honey." Rosie looked at him shocked. Just now, he was cursing at her, and now he's using the word 'honey'.
"You're acting pretty flirty, seeing as I just hit the shit out of you with a stick!" She answered through her teeth.
He grinned, "What can I say? I like tough women."
She rolled her eyes again. Something she found herself doing since she was born.
"I'm Taehyung." the man Rosie had her eye on held out his hand, "But you can call me Tae."
She smiled politely, "Roseanne Park." She answered as she placed her hand in his, "Although, you can call me Rosie."
Jennie and Lisa looked at Rosie, amused. She only ever mentioned her full name to men she was really interested in.
"Jungkook." the man she hit held out his hand too.
"Hmm." she looked him up and down and then let go of Tae's hand. Not even touching Jungkook, she crossed her arms, making him frown.
"OK. And you?" Jennie made heart eyes to the blonde man.
"Jimin." He answered, "Park Jimin." He turned his attention to Rosie, "I bet you we're meant to meet!"
Rosie uncrossed her arms, "Soulmates!"
They hugged tightly, making Jungkook and Jennie clench their jaws.
"How about we go inside now?" Jungkook asked, annoyed.
Jennie nodded in agreement, "I think that's a good idea."
The six of them climbed over the tall fence and steadily started walking over to the house. Rosie softly took Jennie's hand. She felt like the house was getting bigger and bigger.
"Would you two stop being so clingy!" Jennie whispered to Lisa and Rosie.
"I can't," Rosie whispered, "it's getting a little scary now."
Jungkook turned to Rosie with a grin, "You can hold my hand."
Rosie scrunched her face in disgust and let go of Jennie's hand, "I'd rather not!"
Rosie then looked at Taehyung as if waiting for him to offer. But he didn't.
Lisa sighed deeply, "I wish someone would ask me." She looked at Tae with her lips pursed.
Taehyung lifted his shoulders awkwardly, "Uhm, you- want to hold my hand?" He asked with a stutter.
Lisa smiled and took her hand in his. Rosie glared at Lisa. Those two always had competition when it came to cute guys.
Jungkook was the first to walk up the rotted wooden stairs to get to the front door. He eyed the doorbell, and before he could press it, he felt small hands wrap around his bicep. He looked down to see Rosie staring at the door with anxiety written all over her face. He raised his eyebrows at her.
She looked up to meet his gaze, "On second thought, I could use the physical support."
Jungkook rolled his eyes and pressed the doorbell. The bell made a croaky noise, causing Rosie to grip tighter on his arm, and Lisa was practically stopping Taehyung's blood flow.
When nothing happened, Jennie walked up, squishing Rosie and Jungkook in the corner.
"You didn't do it right!" She turned to face the doorbell and pressed it over, and over again until it made a sizzling sound, and finally stopped making noise.
"Now, look!" Jungkook moaned, "You broke it!"
Jennie shrugged, "I guess no one's home?" She said sarcastically.
Suddenly the door creaked open, making everyone flinch.
"Never mind," Jennie whispered slowly.
Rosie excitedly started shaking Jungkooks arm, "Let's go in!"
Jungkook tried to hold in his chuckle. She looked so cute he wanted to pinch her adorable little bread cheeks.
He slowly walked in with Rosie on his side, only a little behind him. Even though Jennie was the most excited about tonight, she was standing behind Rosie.
Rosie and Jungkook kept walking deeper and deeper into the house and didn't notice the others weren't behind them.
"Let's go upstairs!" Jungkook whispered to Rosie.
"W-why?"
He turned his head and looked her straight in her eyes, "You scared?"
She shook her head but obviously forgot that Jungkook could feel her hands move down to grab his hand. She was 100% scared.
He tried to hold his laugh in as they made their way up.
They stopped at a big door.
Jungkook slowly let go of Rosie's hand, "I'm going in." He whispered.
She nodded slowly as he slid through the small gap. He came out quickly, almost bumping into Rosie's chest.
"What, what, what?!" Rosie was getting ready to run.
He hid behind her with his hands on her shoulders, "I saw a mouse!"
She turned around to meet his wide smirk, "That's not funny!" She hit his chest and then opened the door.
They both walked in and looked around the big room. It looked like it would have been a very fancy house back in those days. There was a big bed and a huge wooden cupboard. They stopped looking around when they heard soft footsteps. Rosie looked at Jungkook and motioned for them to hide in the cupboard. They ran in and closed the door quickly behind them.
🔗
"Wait." Jennie stopped Jimin, Taehyung, and Lisa from walking any further, "Let's let them go alone and then split!"
Lisa held tighter onto Taehyungs hand, "I don't like that idea."
Jimin smiled, "I think it would be funny to see where we all end up if we go alone."
Jennie nodded, "Then Liz, you and Taehyung can go together, and Jimin and I will take our separate ways."
Taehyung bit his lower lip, "Jimin, if you die, I'll kill you."
Jimin rolled his eyes, "I'll be fine!"
They all took their separate ways, and Lisa didn't let a single air bubble enter in between her and Tae's hands.
🔗
"It's very tight in here," Jungkook grinned at Rosie, "It looks bigger from the outside."
Rosie was anxiously fiddling with her fingers, "If we die, I have something to confess."
Jungkook furrowed his eyebrows.
She closed her eyes tightly, "I haven't had my first kiss."
His eyes then widened, "You haven't-"
The sound of the room door slowly opening stopped him from saying anything further. The footsteps were now entering the room and walking around.
Rosie looked up at Jungkook, "I'm sorry, you're going to be the victim."
He got the thought that she was going to throw him out of the cupboard so she could run.
"Look, I know we're just strangers, but let's think this through-"
She grabbed his collar and did something he would have never thought of.
She kissed him.
He froze, unable to process what was happening. Then he kissed back. Even though it was past midnight, she had lipgloss on and tasted like strawberries.
The cupboard door opened, but they both didn't care because they got lost in the taste of each other.
"EW!" Jennie shrieked at the sight.
Jungkook and Rosie pulled away from each other.
"You just met!" She made a disgusted face.
"What?!" Rosie wined, "I haven't had my first kiss, and I thought you were a murder coming to kill us!"
Jennie's eyes widened, "Your first kiss was with Mark! Don't you remember?!"
Rosie made her thinking face, "Oh right!" She chuckled softly, "Oops, I forgot."
Jennie held the bridge of her nose, and Jungkook pouted.
"So I wasn't you're first kiss just now?" He asked.
Rosie shrugged, "I guess not?"
"Shhhhh!" Jennie made everyone silent.
They heard creaks coming from another door in the room.
"go, go, go, go, go!" Jennie shoved Jungkook and Rosie back in the cupboard and closed the door.
"Well, if it wasn't tight before, it sure is now," Jungkook whispered.
He turned to the side so his shoulders weren't being squished.
"Oh," He came face to face with Rosie, "You want to kiss again?"
Rosie made a thinking face, "Why not?"
Jennie shriveled up her face in disgust and looked the opposite direction as Jungkook and Rosie's lips met again.
The cupboard door opened.
"Well, that was fast." Taehyung stared at the two sticking their tongues down each other's throats.
Lisa pursed her lips together, "I'm not surprised."
"EW! Can you two stop!" Jennie almost shrieked, "Wait, where is Jimin?!" She looked around the room frantically.
Jungkook pulled away from Rosie's lips, "He usually does his own thing."
Taehyung nodded in agreement with his friend.
"How about you two can stay here and eat each other's faces off, and I'll go find my angel." Jennie glared at Jungkook and lifted her nose at his carelessness.
Jungkook wrapped his arm around Rosie's shoulders, "I'm fine with that."
Taehyung furrowed his eyebrows, "Dude, you have known Rosie for five minutes but act like you've been dating for five years!" He hasn't seen his best friend this close with anyone before.
"Aww. I get special treatment." Rosie linked her fingers with his and looked up at him with a pout.
"I just feel different with you, baby." He answered and kissed her on the cheek.
"That's it! I'm leaving!" Jennie lifted her hands and walked out of the room.
"Same, it took Mark six years to be able to just give you a pec on the lips!" Lisa added as she looked at Rosie confused.
Rosie shrugged, "I guess when you know, you know."
Taehyung and Lisa shared a glance as they worried about their friends confusing actions.
Rosie and Jungkook followed after Jennie, leaving Taehyung and Lisa.
"I'm sure it's the house," Taehyung whispered as they both watched them walk out.
"Yep! There is no way you can 'know you're meant to be' with just one kiss!" Lisa added.
"I mean, we could like, experiment?" Tae looked at Lisa with a cute tata mic face.
🔗
"Oh my gosh! Jimin!" Jennie ran up to Jimin, who was found playing with a TV remote in the living room.
"It doesn't want to turn on!" Jimin kept pressing the buttons on the remote annoyed, as Jennie wrapped her arms around his neck, oddly enough, he wasn't surprised by her clingy actions.
"It's like, 108 years old," Jennie answered and pulled the remote out of his hands.
"Dude, why are you even trying?!" Jungkook asked.
Jimin looked up at him and raised his eyebrows, "first, how did that happen?!" He pointed at Jungkooks arm around Rosie with their hands linked, "second, what if we get special information?!"
"First, we actually don't know," Jungkook answered, "Second, that's a good point."
Rosie's heart started beating faster, "Guys! A TV was only invented in 1927!"
Jungkook looked at her confused, "So?"
Rosie rolled her eyes, "The Adams family died during World War 1, you idiot! In which, World War 1 only took place from, the years 1914 to 1918!"
"The TV was invented nine years after World War 1." She finished. She lowered her voice with every word.
Everyone froze as they processed what was going on.
"Let's get out of here!" Jennie whispered in a hurry.
That's when you know something is not right; when Kim Jennie is scared.
🔗
"What's going on?" Lisa asked when she noticed everyone hurriedly walking to the front door.
Taehyung appeared behind her, "Did they figure out the love spell on the house?" He whispered in her ear.
"I don't know?" She whispered back.
Rosie quickly explained what they just witnessed making Lisa and Taehyung join the group at the bottom of the stairs in a hurry. They all ran out of the house. When they came to the gate they forgot only one person can go over at a time.
"Here," Jungkook linked his hands for Rosie to put her foot on and jump over the gate.
"Aww! I love you!" Rosie stared at him with heart eyes.
His eyes began to sparkle, "That was fast, but I love you too!" He tightened his hands again, "Now, we can kiss later!"
She nodded and climbed over the gate.
"And me?" Jimin pouted as he looked at Jungkook.
Jungkook looked at him confused and climbed over the gate to join Rosie.
"Bye Jen and Liz, I'll see you on Monday at school!" Rosie waved her hand as she and Jungkook ran away, hand in hand.
"What a bitch!" Jennie moaned.
"You two are the bravest!" Taehyung said as he pushed on Lisa's bum to get her over the fence.
"You too!" Jimin almost yelled, "You two are leaving me for girlfriends?!"
"You could give them a taste of their own medicine?" Jennie batted her eyelashes at Jimin, making his heart almost skip a beat.
He rolled his eyes, "Let me guess, you want help over the fence too."
🔗
Rosie sat down in Jungkooks lap on the small picnic blanket they set under the willow tree. She leaned against his chest and looked over at the river, "So you and Tae 'experimented' and found a love spell on the house?" She asked Lisa as Jungkook fed her a grape.
"Yep!" Lisa looked over at Tae, "There had to have been something!"
Taehyung nodded.
"And how did you two manage to find out?" Jungkook asked.
The two remained quiet, making Rosie and Jungkook suspicious. They knew exactly how they figured it out.
"No! I don't like him!"
Everyone turned to see Jennie and Jimin walking over to their picnic spot. Jennie was holding a container while Jimin looked like he was begging Jennie for something.
"You're late!" Lisa stated when the two were close enough.
"Sorry," Jennie sighed, "We had to wait for the cookies to finish in the oven."
"Please, baby! He's my closest stepbrother." Jimin ignored his other friends right in front of him.
"I don't like him!" She replied, "He said he didn't like my Chanel bag!"
Lisa leaned in, "When did they become a thing?" She asked Tae.
He shrugged, "It was only two days ago when it happened?" He looked at Jungkook, "That's how we figured out! Somehow all of us are now dating." He crossed his arms, impressed with his lie.
Jungkook was about to point out the truth, but then Rosie touched his thigh, "Just leave it, Kookie." She glared over at Lisa and Tae, who were feeding each other a cookie, "They won't be acting like the innocent couple for long."
"You are getting pretty comfortable with touching me, Ro." He whispered in her ear and then gave it a little nibble.
"Honestly!" Jennie glared at Jungkook and Rosie, popping the little bubble they had.
"Can you two please not do that in front of other people!" She wined.
And so the friend group stayed together for many years after.
Yet still, not anyone knows the mystery behind the Adams family's house that lay at the end of 𝟸𝟼𝚝𝚑 𝙰𝚍𝚊𝚖𝚜 𝙰𝚟𝚎𝚗𝚞𝚎.
"Would you quit being a baby?!" Jennie asked.
