"Rosé, Rosé, Rosé!"
Roseanne turned around to face where the yells were coming from. There she was, one of her best friends running through the crowd of people in one of the university halls with Jisoo.
"Hey, Jennie and Jisoo." Roseanne smiled brightly at her best friends, "What's the hurry?"
"Yah, you two look like two sweating pigs." Lisa laughed after closing her locker door.
"Lisa!" Rosé softly glared at Lisa and turned to face Jennie and Jisoo again, "What's the rush?" She asked sweetly.
"We have the best news!" Jisoo answered breathlessly.
Lisa chuckled and held her books to her chest, "What? Did Namjoon-oppa finally allow you to answer one of his questions, Jen?"
Jennie glared at Lisa. She knew that having a crush on her science professor was not the best idea, but she wasn't into guys her age recently.
"No! It's good news for Rosie Posie." Jennie answered as she looked back at Rosé, "Look!" Jennie slapped a paper on the pile of books Roseanne was holding.
"What is this?" Rosé gave her two excited best friends a confused look before examining the paper they gave.
"A Romeo and Juliet play?!" Jungkook frantically stood up from his chair, half excited and half anxious.
"Yep!" Jimin sat down comfortably on Jungkooks bed and chowed down the chip in his hand.
"Is it not great?!" Taehyung grinned at Jungkook, "You get the part and do great, you might not have to do the whole sign-up stuff."
"Although, you have to kiss the girl acting as Juliet," Jimin added.
Taehyung slapped Jimin's shoulder, "You weren't meant to tell him that! He was supposed to figure out once he got the part, so he had no way out and can't back down!"
Jungkooks never told his best friends why he doesn't like doing kiss scenes. He has always wanted to go into acting, but why did all the auditions he signed up for asking him to kiss someone?!
Jungkook sat back down in his chair and raked his hand through his hair, "Damn, I never get a break! Maybe I shouldn't-"
"You should!" Taehyung pointed his finger harshly at his best friend, "You always end up backing down just because you 'have to kiss a girl' for the love of all things sweet Jungkook! If you want to be an actor, you gotta act like one!"
⎯⎯ ୨ ୧ ⎯⎯
Rosé ran to the three girls that were waiting for her behind the curtain, "How did I do?" She hastily asked in a whisper.
"If you don't get the part, then pigs can fly!" Lisa answered as she squeezed Rosé 's hand.
"Isn't he dreamy?"
Lisa and Rosé turned to look at Jisoo staring at one of the judges. Jennie rolled her eyes and examined her nails, "Not as dreamy as Kim Namjoon."
Rosé walked over to investigate who Jisoo was talking about, "Oh, Mr. Seokjin?"
She thought for a moment, "He's attractive, but not my type."
Lisa nodded her head in agreement, "I like the ones that don't do acting. I don't want him kissing random girls!"
The four friends went to take a seat behind the judges so they can watch the auditions for Romeo.
"Can I just perish?" Rosé sank in her chair when the third guy walked off the stage, almost crying because the one judge named Moon Geun-young told him he spoke as if he had a pile of food in his mouth.
"Wait." Jisoo answered, "There are still seven more acts."
"Give them a chance, Ro." Jennie chuckled.
Yet still, after the last act, Rosie felt as if someone just stabbed her, "Maybe I should just tell them I'll play both Romeo and Juliet?" She stared hopelessly into space.
"I think so too," Lisa answered with her mouth full of popcorn.
"I'm sorry, Ro," Jisoo leaned over to show her friend her pout of disappointment.
"Maybe next year's play?" Jennie told Roseanne with an unsure smile.
But then another man walked onto the stage. Rosé sat up again, now he looked like her type! She just had to pray to God that he was good at acting and would get the part.
Rosé was so focused on the man walking awkwardly to the middle of the stage that she didn't notice a person standing next to her.
"Excuse me?"
Rosé looked to the side the deep voice came from, "Uh?"
"May we sit here?" He asked.
She looked down at the two empty seats next to her, "Oh. Yes. Be my guest."
An amused smile crept on his lips, "Ha 'be my guest' you should audition as Juliet."
"I-I did." She answered softly.
"Ha, try being her friend!" Lisa's head popped from next to Rosé, "That's how Roseanne talks, asshole!"
Rosé's eyes widened, "Lisa, be more considerate of his feelings!"
Lisa raised her eyebrows at her friend and took off her sunglasses.
(Don't ask why she is wearing sunglasses in a theater, she just is.)
"See?!" Lisa turned her head to make eye contact with the man, "Damn you're hot!" she put her sunglasses back on and took them off again, "I- I'm not dreaming? Am I?" she looked over at Rosé with her eyes wide.
Lisa has always been one to get to the point. She was probably going to ask for his number soon.
The man giggled, "Thank you." He held out his hand to Lisa, completely ignoring Rosé right in the middle of them, "Taehyung."
"Well, I sure am pleased to meet you!" she shook his hand with a grin, "Call me Lisa."
"And I'm Jimin!" Jimin's head popped from behind Taehyung, but Lisa and Taehyung were still staring googly-eyed at each other.
"Uh- Pleased to come to this acquaintance." Rosé looked over Taehyung's body and smiled at Jimin.
She quickly looked back at the stage when she remembered the man that fit the look of a man only one could find in a book. Luckily he was just starting with his acting piece, but she missed his introduction.
"Darn! I missed his name." Rosé was slightly hovering over her seat as she tried to look over the people's heads.
"Oh, Jungkook?" Taehyung looked at Rosé with his eyebrows raised.
"Is that the young man's name?" She asked softly.
Taehyung nodded, "He's my friend."
⎯⎯ ୨ ୧ ⎯⎯
"Jeon Jungkook, and Park Roseanne." The judge, Cha Eunwoo looked up from his clipboard, "Since you are the only good acts we have seen today, and believe me, I am darn tired of people thinking just because they are attractive they can get a part!" He held the bridge of his nose and looked back at the two awkwardly standing people on the stage, "You two get the main roles."
"Oh my! Thank you so much, sir! I will never let you down! I won't let any of you down!" Roseanne covered her mouth in shock and turned to look at her best friends that were standing behind the curtain- even though they weren't allowed to be there.
"Thank you so much!" Jungkook gave a huge grin and a 90-degree bow.
"There is something I hope you both already know though." Kim Soekjin looked over his glasses at the two, "You do understand you have to kiss, right?"
Roseanne's face dropped, "We... What?!"
Jungkook gave another bow, "Yes, sir."
"I- But- We- may I get an explanation?!" Rosé's eyes were screaming confusion as she looked from judge to judge and then stared at the side profile of Jungkook.
"Well, this is bad." Lisa whispered, "You two are screwed."
Jisoo and Jennie made eye contact with each other.
"I haven't heard her stutter, and I've known her for as long as I can remember," Jisoo muttered.
"We're dead." Jennie sighed.
"You don't know Miss Roseanne?" Moon Ga-young's brows furrowed, "Please would you inform her Jungkook." She got up off her seat, "We expect to see you tomorrow for the practice stage. Please have five pages of your lines memorized by then." She walked out without another word, and Eunwoo followed after.
"A little piece of advice, practice together. It will be easier. And you don't have to kiss during the practice stage, but please practice the kiss." Seokjin smiled at them before trailing after his fellow judges.
When they were out of the theater Rosé fell to her knees, "How do you practice a fucking kiss?!" She shrieked.
Jisoo and Jennie ran as fast as they could out of the theater, with Lisa right behind them. Rosé only ever swore when she was really, really mad.
"I take it, it's not the best time to tell you how we're meant to kiss and how long and how many times?" Jungkook whispered as he bent down next to her.
Rosé 's head slowly turned to look him straight in his eyes, "YA THINK?!"
⎯⎯ ୨ ୧ ⎯⎯
"Coming," Jungkook yelled at the sound of his apartment doorbell. When he opened the door, he felt his tummy turn. She looked like a goddess! She was wearing a simple short white skirt with a black crop top that had white buttons on it.
"I- eh, come in." He scratched the back of his neck. She wasn't going to make this easy, he was glad he got to kiss a pretty girl, but would a girl as pretty as her even allow him?!
"Woah!" Roseanne looked around, "It's very modern."
Jungkook nodded, "You can admit it's a dark modern, you don't look like the type to like dark interior."
Rosé's head turned slowly as she connected their eyes, "Jeon Jungkook, just because I may not look like 'the type' as you would say, does not mean I may not have some sort of interest!" She took a deep offended breath in, "Not one can know a person by a mere look, Mr. Jeon."
Jungkook felt his mouth gape when she spoke. Did she come out of some sort of old movie?!
"Right." He cleared his throat, "Sorry if I have offended you." He felt like he talked like a commoner when he spoke. This afternoon she was swearing at him, and now she spoke as if she was Juliet herself.
"Does she actually speak like this?!" He wondered.
"Shall we get on with this then?" Roseanne looked over at him after examining his apartment, "It is six in the evening after all."
After Jungkook gave Rosé an apartment tour, they ordered pizza and sat down on his couch to practice their lines.
Rosé said the last line before they had to do the kiss. She looked up at Jungkook with wide eyes, "I- Uhm, don't know how to 'practice kissing' do you?" she looked down at the ground, "To be honest, I haven't kissed someone since grade 8."
Jungkook bit his lower lip, "I have 'practiced kissing' for a play before, but it didn't end well." He examined Rosé 's face that didn't want to look at his, "But I'm sure you're not like her."
Rosé looked up to finally meet his eyes, "What do you mean 'not like her' exactly?"
He bit the inside of his cheek, "Well, I have always been in love with acting, and let's just say this one girl I had to act with, Uhm, hurt me."
"Oh, I haven't broken anyone. All my relationships that ended- which were like two, but still," she looked down again, "Uhm, let's say I haven't broken anyone's heart- And I don't intend to!" She waved her hands in a cross-motion.
Jungkook nodded, "So...What now?"
"I haven't watched Romeo and Juliet, or read it." Rosé answered, "Have you?"
"I have." He answered, "Why?"
"Great! You should know how they kiss then?" She felt a little embarrassed, but one of them needed to teach the other.
"Oh! You meant..." He looked at her blankly, "Yeah, I'll coach you."
Roseanne turned around to face where the yells were coming from. There she was, one of her best friends running through the crowd of people in one of the university halls with Jisoo.
