Reporters in the audience were eating it up, camera flashes creating a constant strobe effect.
Just as everyone thought this power struggle was concluding, a male voice cut through the chaos:
"Wait! I object to Marlow taking control of this company!"
Liam strode into the boardroom, marching directly to the podium, his voice thick with righteous indignation.
"Marlow, you've barely left prison and you're already sleeping with celebrities! How can someone so morally bankrupt expect to lead this company?!"
As he spoke, he projected the intimate photo onto the screen.
He knew exactly how to destroy a woman's reputation with sexual innuendo, but Marlow remained completely unfazed.
"As a legally competent adult, are you prepared to take full responsibility for the accusations you just made?" Marlow asked calmly.
"Let me be crystal clear—if I can prove you fabricated these claims, I will sue you into bankruptcy."
Liam tried to respond but froze in place.
As her former fiancé, he knew better than anyone just how formidable Marlow's legal skills were.
A persistent reporter called out: "Ms. Reeves, please directly address your relationship with Mr. Barrett!"
Marlow carefully considered her response, not wanting to drag Camden into this mess after he had supported her.
Before she could speak, Victoria jumped up from her seat. "A man and woman embracing at midnight—what kind of 'relationship' do you think that is?"
She let out a scornful laugh. "I suppose I'm partly to blame. Knowing you grew up without a mother, I should have taught you some basic decency."
Her voice was deliberately loud, clearly hoping everyone would believe Marlow was some classless tramp.
Marlow's eyes narrowed dangerously as she moved forward, but Gregory blocked her path.
"I'm warning you to back off. She's carrying the Reynolds family heir—the future inheritor of this company!"
His tone was triumphant, as if having a "son" would somehow restore his dignity and standing.
Marlow let out a derisive laugh. "Dad, should I schedule you a psychiatric evaluation?"
Gregory impatiently waved his hand, shouting at the top of his lungs.
"Enough with your corporate law nonsense! According to tradition, the firstborn son inherits the family business! You have no right to stand here, Marlow!"
Marlow raised an eyebrow, recalling Victoria's fake pregnancy.
"That assumes she's actually capable of producing a son. Who knows if there's anything in that womb at all?"
"What did you say?!" Jade shrieked, slipping into the crowd amid gasps of shock.
Everyone's attention turned to Victoria's stomach. Looking nervous, she attempted to back away but was blocked by Gregory, forcing her to maintain her bluff despite her rapidly paling face.
"Marlow, even though you've never accepted me as your mother, I've never done anything to harm you. How can you curse my unborn child like this?"
Marlow looked at Victoria—perfectly made up and wearing stiletto heels—finding the situation absurdly comical.
Just as she was about to respond, a hard shove from behind sent her stumbling forward, accompanied by a piercing scream as the crowd erupted.
"AHHH! Marlow tried to hurt my baby!"
Looking up, Marlow caught Jade's venomous expression, still in her post-shove position.
The next moment, Victoria approached with a dark look, deliberately stomping on Marlow's hand where others couldn't see!
"I suggest you behave yourself, or I have plenty of ways to make you suffer."
The sharp heel ground into Marlow's hand, triggering flashbacks of childhood abuse at Victoria's hands:
Being forced to kneel in the courtyard during thunderstorms, given only one bowl of food over three days, made to sleep in the dog kennel...
Those degrading memories pierced her like countless needles!
But...
She was no longer that helpless little girl!
Noticing a blood packet peeking out from between Victoria's legs, Marlow suddenly understood the mother-daughter scheme!
Victoria noticed Marlow's gaze, blanched, and tried to flee, but Marlow grabbed her ankle.
In one swift move, Marlow snatched the blood packet from Victoria's leg and slammed it to the floor!
The fake blood splattered everywhere, drawing gasps from the crowd.
"Victoria, you're not pregnant at all! You strapped on a blood packet to frame me for causing a miscarriage!"
Victoria scrambled on the floor, desperately shrieking, "You're lying! This is just... just an accessory I wear!"
Marlow's red lips curved into a cold smile as she wiped splattered blood from her face.
Her pale, beautiful face showed no emotion, like a vengeful spirit risen from hell.
She produced the photos she'd taken earlier, as composed as if she were in court, directly challenging Victoria: "If you're really pregnant, why are you having periods? Why are you using harsh retinol skincare products?"
"And why are you wearing stiletto heels today?"
Victoria looked terrified—she never expected Marlow had photographic evidence!
The irrefutable proof sent shockwaves through the room.
Next, Marlow turned her attention to Liam.
"Liam, I can state plainly that Mr. Barrett was simply offering friendly comfort as a concerned acquaintance. Should anyone continue spreading rumors about our relationship, I will pursue legal action."
All cameras focused on Marlow as her unwavering gaze bore into Liam, each word deliberate and forceful.
"You thought some voyeuristic photos and malicious gossip could destroy me? You severely underestimated this woman."
"I stand in the light with nothing to fear from your slander. Your tactics only keep me in the spotlight, strengthening my position."
"Use whatever dirty tricks you have left, but I guarantee one thing—in a battle between us, you will always lose."
Someone in the crowd began to applaud, and soon the entire room joined in with sustained ovation.
Marlow stood tall, her smile confident, her presence commanding as a mountain.
Liam instinctively backed away, nearly tripping over himself.
In that moment, no one doubted her anymore.
The legendary attorney Marlow had returned!
