                    "Earth to Riley!"
Sophie waved her hand in front of Riley's face.
Riley blinked and squeezed her hand. "This doesn't feel real."
She really meant it. When she'd left the city, she'd felt like a walking corpse.
Sophie knew exactly what she was thinking and squeezed back.
"Riley, you're one of the good ones. You deserve every bit of happiness coming your way."
Tears rolled down Riley's face as they hugged tight.
After Riley had cried it all out, Sophie produced a familiar little cupcake box.
Riley started laughing through her tears, about to thank her when Sophie held up a hand.
"Don't thank me! I'm not taking credit—your hubby waited in line forever to get these."
The word "hubby" made Riley's face go bright red.
After that night with the proposal, Ethan had been relentless about making it legal before the big ceremony.
They'd already hit up city hall.
Ethan was officially her husband now.
On the wedding day, Ethan invited everyone—family, friends, even the press got access.
But they were watching everything on giant screens from the reception hall.
The actual ceremony was going to be way more private.
Blake was surprised by the unusual setup when he arrived.
What caught his attention even more was the feeling that security guards were stationed all around him.
He smirked, thinking Ethan was being overly paranoid.
Who the hell would cause trouble at a wedding?
He laughed it off and found a quiet spot to wait.
But then the ceremony music started.
And the bride appeared in her custom designer gown, walking slowly toward the altar.
Bang!
Blake's champagne glass exploded against the floor.
Shards of glass tore into his palm, blood streaming down his fingers.
He didn't even feel it.
Blake's face went death-pale, his expression absolutely terrifying.
A server rushed over, panicked.
"Sir, you're bleeding everywhere! We need to get you to a hospital!"
Blake couldn't hear anything. His brain felt like it was exploding. His eyes went wide, his whole body shaking uncontrollably.
He grabbed the server by his uniform.
"What's the bride's name?"
"What?" The server looked terrified.
"The woman marrying Ethan Blackwood—what's her goddamn name?"
"Um... Riley something. Riley Lawson, I think."
Blake's grip went slack.
His entire body was trembling, mouth open like he couldn't get air into his lungs.
Everyone was staring at him, totally confused.
Blake felt like he was suffocating—his chest on fire, every organ screaming for oxygen.
On the big screen, he watched that pink diamond ring slide from Ethan's hand onto Riley's finger.
Like someone had grabbed him by the throat and started squeezing.
Veins popped on his forehead as he lunged for the exit.
But a wall of security immediately stepped into his path.
"Mr. Harrison, you really should wait until the ceremony's over before leaving."
Everything clicked into place.
That smug fucking smile Ethan always gave him.
Why he'd fought so hard for that pink diamond.
And that red string bracelet on his wrist—the same kind Riley used to make for Blake.
Blake had thrown his away years ago because he thought it looked tacky.
His face went ghost-white as he tried to shove past the guards.
Eight guys instantly closed in around him.
Blake threw a wild punch, putting everything he had behind it. Each hit was brutal, like he was trying to murder someone.
He kept telling himself Ethan must have blackmailed Riley somehow.
No way she'd marry someone else by choice.
It was fucking impossible.
Riley had been obsessed with him for over twenty years.
Tons of guys had tried to get with her, but she'd never looked at anyone else.
She couldn't just stop loving him.
His eyes were bloodshot as he fought like he was trying to rescue the love of his life.
Just when things were getting desperate, Blake's own security team arrived.
"Mr. Harrison, your hand—"
His assistant stared at the blood streaming down Blake's fingers, looking worried.
But Blake couldn't wait another second.
If he was too late...
As Blake raced to find Riley, he didn't notice a car passing him going the opposite direction.
Riley had already changed into her reception dress. Ethan was carefully helping her out of the car.
His assistant whispered something in his ear, making Ethan smile.
"What is it?" Riley looked at him curiously.
"Nothing important."
Ethan's smile got even wider.
