After the wedding, Ethan whisked Riley away on a tour across the country.
Only then did Riley understand why Ethan had been so impossibly busy before the wedding—he'd been planning their ceremony while also front-loading months of work so he could dedicate all his time to their honeymoon.
This was Riley's first real honeymoon.
Ethan had meticulously planned visits to every place she'd ever wanted to see.
Riley was amazed—she'd never even mentioned these destinations to Sophie.
How had Ethan known?
When she asked, Ethan looked slightly embarrassed.
"That night you got drunk, I may have... interrogated you a little."
Riley's face went bright red.
She'd been so happy that night, so uninhibited that even Ethan had been overwhelmed by her enthusiasm.
The next morning she'd literally cried getting out of bed.
Ethan had scooped her up and carried her back to bed, then tenderly helped take care of her soreness.
"Stop talking about it!" Riley frantically covered his mouth with her hands.
Ethan pressed a soft kiss to her palm.
Riley pulled her hand back instinctively, but he caught it and held tight.
Then Riley ducked her head, smiling despite herself.
Her shattered heart felt like it was being carefully stitched back together, piece by piece.
So this was what it felt like to be truly loved.
Everywhere they went, Ethan took pictures of Riley.
In every single shot, she looked vibrant and alive. Her radiant smile was like sunshine, and her dimples showed in every photo.
Anyone could tell how much the photographer loved his subject.
Riley posted the pictures on her social media.
Every post got tons of likes and comments from friends and family.
Most people teased Ethan about how this billionaire CEO had basically become her personal photographer.
Ethan's reply of "wouldn't have it any other way" made everyone insanely jealous.
They were shamelessly flaunting their happiness, and it was killing Blake.
He obsessively studied every photo of Riley while hating that he wasn't the one behind the camera.
He made Riley's travel photos his phone and computer wallpapers.
The rest he printed out and plastered all over his bedroom and office walls.
Marcus couldn't watch Blake torture himself anymore.
He physically dragged Blake out to a bar.
The loud music and chaos around them might as well have been silent. Even looking like hell, Blake still had women trying to approach him, but he acted like they were invisible.
Marcus sighed in frustration. "Blake, you've got to let the past go. People have to move forward."
Blake didn't want to hear it. He stumbled to his feet, swaying as he headed toward the bathroom.
As he passed one of the private rooms, he heard a familiar voice.
It was Sophia.
She was sitting next to some fat, disgusting older man whose calloused hands were groping at her chest.
Sophia forced herself to smile and flirt with him, barely concealing her revulsion.
Blake let out a bitter laugh.
He'd thrown away Riley for this piece of trash.
He slapped himself hard across the face and turned to leave.
But before he could get far, Sophia was dragged out of the room by the old man, who pulled her into an empty private room behind Blake.
Blake wasn't interested in their drama, but then he heard his own name mentioned.
He stopped dead in his tracks.
