As I was thinking about it, I got a notification—new follower on my socials:
BlaireBear.
I raised an eyebrow, then tapped "follow back."
Not two seconds later, she slid into my DMs.
It was a location drop—some seafood dive on the edge of town.
With a message:
"Aren't you curious who your ‘out of town' boyfriend's really with?"
I've been in business long enough to know when a bitch wants smoke.
And if the dog's barking at my door, hell yeah, I'm gonna check it out.
On the way there, she posted a video—her and Jace, fingers intertwined, grinning like lovebirds.
Caption read:
"If it's meant to be, the universe brings you back together."
I opened the comments and dropped one of my own:
"Bill it to Jace. Dumbass tax."
I hit send and looked up.
I was already at the place.
The second I walked in, there he was—Jace and Blaire, clinking wine glasses in some cheesy "cheers to us" moment, while their friends hooted like they were in a barstool frat video.
Busy night, huh Mr. Chandler?
So many "business meetings," all of them with candlelight and shared plates.
I walked right up, took off my ring, and dropped it dead center on the table.
"Late-night meetings, huh? You're so busy, Mr. Chandler."
He shot up, panicked.
"Sloane—no, it's not what it looks like, let me explain—"
I didn't even bother looking at him or their dumbstruck friends.
I turned around and started walking out.
Tossed two words over my shoulder:
"We're done."
I'd barely made it two steps before he ran after me and grabbed my wrist.
Blaire trailed behind him, that smug-ass smile already on her face.
