Aurora let out a small muffled groan. She tried to change her position but there was something heavy on her that was restraining her movements.
In her sleepy state, her hands moved and she grabbed the thing wrapped around her waist and the sudden electrifying sparks had her eyes shot open wide.
The first thing she noticed was the unfamiliar surroundings before her eyes dropped down to the heavy thing on her waist and her eyes widened as she abruptly pulled her hands back.
A veiny arm was wrapped around her, and it was damn heavy. Her eyes widened when her senses came back to her fully and she felt a hard body flush to her back.
This can't be.
She was frozen on the spot for like a complete two minutes. She wasn't even breathing but the burning of her lungs forced her to breathe as she inhaled sharply.
She slowly moved. Shifting in his arm and not even touching it with her bare hands.
When she lay facing the ceiling, she breathed in deeply. Her situation was pretty scary.
Her eyes landed on the pillow that rested on the couch, the same pillow that she placed between them. It was as if someone had thrown it away causing it to land on the couch.
She trembled, feeling his hot breath hitting on her ear. His lips were just an inch away from her ear. His raspy breathing caused her heartbeat to quicken.
She slowly tilted her head to gaze at him and she gulped. He was so close to her. Sleeping soundly. There was no scowl or frown on his forehead. He seemed so calm and at peace. His hair was ruffled covering his forehead and she was in absolute awe by the beauty of his eyebrows and lashes. The lashes girls would die to have.
She was still staring at him blatantly. Not scared at all.
She was pretty aware of their proximity and it was making her heart beat like a marathon.
A grunt reverberated from his chest and his hold on her tightened as he unexpectedly pulled her closer, almost squishing her to him.
She gazed down at their bodies touching and when her eyes raised, she gasped loudly and her eyes went wide.
Her gaze met with the dark onyx hues that looked like the perfect depths of serenity engulfed in darkness.
He was staring straight at her which caused her to react involuntarily as her hands came up on his chest and she pushed him trying to create an appropriate distance between their bodies but he wasn't having it because he was unmoving.
"Stop moving," His deep morning voice had her heart going in a frenzy as she struggled even more only for him to cuddle her impossibly closer as he dipped his face in the crook of her neck and breathed in deeply.
She was frozen on her spot as she felt the tip of his nose caressing her skin.
She bit her bottom lip hard and tried to stay as calm as possible but the wild beating of her heart was thumping loud and clear in her ears.
"W...why are you h...holding me?" She whispered shakily as she didn't try to move.
"Because I can," was his plane reply.
He had his eyes closed as he let the serenity sink in. For the first time after years, he had such a peaceful sleep. And the fact that he slept the whole night was a shocker for him.
He felt relaxed at the moment and the point that he had slept till this late was also a shocker. He was a pretty early riser.
His brows furrowed when he felt her delicate fingers touching his arm as she tried to push his arm away but he only tightened his hold.
He was cuddling her rather seriously. It was as if he was afraid that she would evaporate into thin air if he loosened his hold on her even for a little bit.
"C...can't b..bre..breath..." She stammered in a groaning voice and his eyes widened for a fraction of a second before he loosened his hold enough for her to be comfortable but not enough for her to escape.
What was he doing?
He was squishing the life out of her as if she was his favorite toy. But he wasn't a kid and she wasn't a toy. She was his mate.
"I s...still can't b..breath, remove y...your arm," She whispered. It was an act of her to get away from him because he listened to her first plea.
"You can breathe." He said matter of factly.
She didn't know why he seemed to be in a very good mood and it was a surprise for her because he was always grumpy, brooding, and cold.
"I can't," She argued and he moved back slightly to look at her but she didn't even move or looked his way because she was flustered in his proximity and was scared of him a little bit.
"You can." He drawled lazily.
"I can't."
"You can."
"I can't."
"You can."
"I can't."
"Let me check," the next thing she knew he had his ear pressed on her sternum and she froze in absolute shock.
"You can," He said adamantly and she was all beetroot by now as she shrieked and abruptly smacked his head away and got out of his embrace and fell on the floor on her butt as she gaped at him wide-eyed.
He was also gaping at her wide-eyed while rubbing his head where she had smacked him.
She thought she was dead now but he moved back and plopped his head back on the pillow facing the ceiling as he sighed.
"Don't ever hit me," He grumbled in a low growl but there was no anger in his voice.
Aurora abruptly got up and hurried into the ensuite bathroom. Once she closed the door she sighed but the very next second her eyes widened.
She was supposed to walk out of his room.
She has finally lost her mind.
With a deep breath, she got out only to find him staring straight at her with his hands behind his head causing his muscles to flex.
She abruptly looked away and scurried to the door. She fumbled with the lock and all the while his heated gaze was fixed on her and it made her even more flustered. She abruptly opened the door and stepped out of his room, closing the door behind her in her haste.
She eventually breathed when she was in her room as she locked the door and leaned against the door.
That was insane.
She lightly rubbed her chest to calm her erratically beating heart down.
Walking into the bathroom, she stared at her reflection in the mirror only to gasp out in horror. Her hair was a messy nest. This explains why he was looking at her like that.
This was so embarrassing.
This was wrong. He looked so fine when he woke up and she looked like this. Why? Why? Why?
She noticed the red tint on her cheeks and she cupped both of her cheeks in her palm feeling their warmth.
He made her so flustered.
She wasn’t ever going to share a bed with him.
It was no coincidence. He cuddled her deliberately.
She took a quick shower and changed into new sets of clothes. She was about to check her phone when there was a knock on her door.
Thinking that it was Charlotte with her breakfast she opened the door only to find a huge frame of Mr. Draken right in front of her.
He showered and his hair was wet.
She had the urge to close the door but he read her like an open book and cocked his brow at her. Daring her.
He was holding sheets in his hand.
"Come on, we've to meet the elders." He said and without even hearing her response he grabbed her hand and started to descend the stairs.
She tried to pull her hand out of his hold but it was no use.
She tensed when the elders came in sight and at that same time Draken intertwined his fingers with hers and pulled her closer.
She gulped.
Hoping that no one doubts them with their little trick with the sheets because if they did, she would be a goner.
