She was sleeping peacefully. Her chest moved up and down with soft breaths. Her skin was rosy and smooth. Her thick eyelashes. High cheekbones, those fluffy cheeks. Those luscious lips. The chin which always jutted out when she pouts. He breathed in deeply, filling his lungs with her scent.
The rough pad of his thumb softly caressed her cheek. If only he could trust her. 'You're trusting her that's why you let her keep her phone,' The voice inside him speaks. Sighing he lay down beside her.
Grabbing her waist he cuddled her closer as he dipped his head into her neck. He closed his eyes hoping the nightmares won't come back.
He felt warm and relaxed with her in his arms and soon he drifted off to deep slumber.
Aurora woke up groggily and stirred in her sleep. Her brows knitted together when she felt the familiar weight on her waist. Her eyes shot open wide as she pulled the blanket up and stared at that veiny arm dropped on her belly. Thankfully his hand didn't creep inside her shirt this time.
Wait.
She remembered she slept in her room then how come she was here on his bed?
She inched her head back before looking at him and she found him fully awake which broadened her eyes even more.
"G...Good morning..." She stuttered in her shaky voice.
"Morning," His raspy morning voice was like heavy velvet draping all over her.
She breathed twice. "How am I here?" She asked cautiously but he just kept gazing at her with those intense onyx eyes of his that pierced through her soul.
"I brought you here," He said as if it was no big deal. Why didn't she wake up?
"From now on you'll have to sleep here every night," He said and her brows shot up.
"What? Why?"
"Because I said so," He replied plainly. He didn't elaborate to her that sleeping with her in his arms stops those vicious nightmares.
She stayed quiet and didn't argue.
"Can you move your arm?" She asked and he only tightened his hold.
She was stiff as a statue.
"Please. I...I need to use the bathroom," she mumbled and he decided to grace her with freedom. She didn't waste a single second as she got out of bed and dashed to her room.
He came to her room. Picked her up in his arms, and then put her on his bed, and all this while she was passed out like a dead person.
Crazy.
Aurora showered and then headed to the kitchen. She prepared breakfast for two and to her utter surprise, he was waiting at the dining table. She passed him a soft smile and his eyes widened slightly.
She set the table and they ate their food in silence. He left without another word and she got back to work.
After some time the doorbell rang and she opened the door only to be greeted by none other than Echo.
"Draken is not home," Aurora said calmly without moving aside, giving her no space to get in.
"I need to drop this in his room. He has asked me to," Echo said with a voice dripping with attitude. She was holding a box in her hand.
She didn't like the way this woman tried to show her how close Draken was to her.
Aurora opened the door to let her in. "Okay," Aurora said as Echo sauntered in and Aurora closed the door.
Aurora got back to her cleaning as Echo went upstairs.
She returned after a few minutes.
Aurora gazed at her as she left the mansion without saying another word.
Curiosity got the best of her as she padded into Draken's room and gazed at the box contemplating. What might be in the box? Maybe a gift? She didn't know but she could surely find out. He won't get to know. But he found out when she searched through his study for her phone. He even noticed that she checked the files.
Bad idea.
Shaking her head she left his room without touching the door.
Echo went to Draken's study in the packhouse. She knew Draken had gone out to meet the warriors and this was her chance. She opened the live footage and rewind it before cutting the part where she went into Aurora's room.
She checked the footage again and it seemed normal. As if it wasn't tempered.
Smirking, she walked to the couch and sat on it waiting for his return.
Draken was back after a while and he frowned, finding Echo in his study.
"What are you doing here?" He queried and she smiled. Standing up she caressed his arm with her fake nails as he stepped away from her touch. Rounding the table he sat on his seat.
"I missed you," Echo slurred rounding the table as she stood beside him.
"I'm busy," His voice was cold and distant.
"Why are you avoiding me?" Echo asked and he stayed quiet going through a file.
"Is it because of your mate? Did you start to like her?" Echo asked sharply.
"Leave, Echo." He grumbled looking for the important files which contained the next missions for his troops.
"Eren? Where are the files?" Draken yelled as Eren walked in.
"I had left the box here on the table," Eren said, looking at Draken, completely ignoring Echo.
"Then where the f*ck it is-"
"I took it to your mansion and left it in your room." Echo mused.
"What?" Draken roared, making her flinch.
"I just want to show you that your mate is no different from that woman. She might've sent the information to her pack by now but if she didn't then we will know she's not bad," Echo said calmly and Draken's eyes narrowed to slits.
The only thing he hated the most was betrayal.
He hoped. He f*cking hoped that she hadn't touched the files or else his beast would be out of control in rage.
Draken grabbed Echo's jaw in a brutal grip as he glared at her.
"You crossed the line, Echo. F*cking know your place. You've no right to test my mate!" Draken growled as he jerked her away and walked out with Eren right behind him.
"Alpha, you need to calm down," Eren said.
"Don't come after me," Draken growled as he marched back to his mansion.
The door flung open and her eyes widened as she jumped up in shock.
Her heart dropped seeing Draken looking mad his jaw was clenched and his eyes were narrowed.
"Did you touch the files?" He asked in a low growl prowling towards her.
"Which f...files?" She stammered, taking steps back.
What happened now? She didn't even do anything.
"The box, which Echo brought here?" He gritted out.
"N..no... I didn't open it." She said instantly.
"Where's your phone?" He queried.
"I...in my room," She mumbled in a small scared voice.
Draken stalked to her room and she followed him with a heavy heart. Was he going to snatch her phone again?
But she didn't even do anything wrong.
He grabbed her phone from the bed and noticed that it wasn't password protected.
He searched through her phone and his eyes turned into slits.
"WHAT THE F*CK IS THIS?" He roared, showing her the phone where she had sent pictures of the files to Rasmus.
All the blood drained out of her as she blanched. Her throat went dry as she shook her head vigorously.
"I...I..."
"I didn't...." She croaked out and he shook his head.
"Aghhhh!" He screamed like a deranged man as he threw her phone with such force as it crashed against the wall a foot away from her.
A cry of fear escaped her lips as she jumped away. Her heart came to her mouth in trepidation.
