The place was huge and decorated beautifully. Her father often used to give such lavish parties so she was used to it but the only difference was, she didn't know anyone there. She noticed that humans and werewolf species both were present.
She also got piercing glances from the people which made her step closer to Draken.
Draken was uneasy as soon as they stepped inside the grand Hall. He was quick to notice many men's eyes on Aurora and all he wanted to do was rip their eyes out of their sockets.
He instantly regretted bringing her along but he couldn't afford to put her life in danger. What if more men were sent in disguise to kill Aurora just like Echo?
But there was another important reason he brought her tonight. He was sure one of her brothers would be here. He didn't tell her about it but he wanted her to meet her brother. She would like it, won't she?
They stood at the table as Draken lowered his head to her ear. "Don't drink or eat anything here. Okay?" He said and she lightly bobbed her head.
A man in his late 40s paced his way to them and greeted Draken enthusiastically.
Draken's face was cold but he responded to the greeting. "Mr. Romanov," Draken said as the man's eyes fell on Aurora.
"You brought a date," the man said as his eyes lingered on Aurora's neck and he found no mark there. Aurora felt uncomfortable under his scrutiny.
She gasped when Draken snaked his arm around her waist and yanked her to him. "This is my mate, Aurora. The fragile princess of the moon pack." Draken sneered coldly causing her insides to churn at his icy tone.
"Ah, I see. You didn't mark her?" The man asked as Draken took a sip of his drink. His demeanor was cold and menacing.
"Didn't feel like it," Draken grumbled.
Though it was all an act. She didn't like it.
The man came to Aurora's side as he forward his hand for a shake. She gulped before placing her hand in his and he instantly brought it up to his lips kissing her knuckles and making her pull her hand back in a jerk. She noticed Draken's hold tightened on her waist.
"Nice to meet you," She muttered in a clipped tone and the man smiled, fixing his eyes on Draken.
"Alpha King didn't make it, nor did he send his daughter to attend this party. But his men are surely here," Mr. Romanov, the Alpha of the blood pack said.
He wasn't a friend of Draken but he wasn't an enemy either. They had good relations in the business field.
"I know already," Draken muttered bored.
"I've heard Alpha King had sent someone to kill your mate," the man said and Draken turned to glare at him.
"He wasted his time. I've more important tasks at hand than to babysit this mate of mine," He sneered and Aurora's face fell, she lowered her gaze.
"Don't be cruel to her, Draken. You should cherish your mate." The man said genuinely as Draken glared at him.
"I'll treat her the way she deserves to be treated," Draken hissed lowly.
"What a pleasant surprise. I wasn't expecting Mr. Mafia to show up," Jonathan said walking up to them.
"Jonathan," Draken greeted.
Draken had signed a new deal with this man. Jonathan was a former blood pack member but he left the pack and started his new business in the city.
Draken glared at him coldly and the man straightened up, his smile fading away but then his eyes fell on the woman beside Draken.
"Enjoy, I'll meet the other guests," Mr. Romanov said as he walked away.
Jonathan excused himself as well and at the same time, someone called her name. She recognized that voice and before she could turn around she was yanked out of Draken's hold and pulled into a warm embrace.
Aurora's eyes glossed up when she inhaled that familiar scent. Her eyes landed on the left hand of the man that was on her shoulder and the all too familiar tattoo brought her peace.
"Aurora? How are you?" Hunter's gruff voice fell on her ears as she bobbed her head and moved back to look at him.
Her ocean eyes met his jade-green ones, which softened.
"I'm fine," She murmured.
A tear escaped her eye as Hunter wiped it. He glared at Draken who stood behind her calmly, seeing the siblings reuniting after a while.
"Did he hurt you? You can tell me, Aurora. I'll kill him if he has hurt you," Hunter's deep voice was low and threatening. She instantly shook her head holding his hand.
"No, he didn't." She said truthfully as Hunter glared at Draken with doubtful eyes and Draken returned the glare with menace.
"Hunter, how's mom? How's everyone back home?" She asked softly and Hunter sighed.
He grabbed her hand and turned to walk when Draken grabbed his shoulder, halting him and the next second, both Alpha males glared at each other in menace, face to face. Her eyes widened and she instantly forced her way between them and she looked at Draken.
"I'll talk to my brother for a while," she said and Drakken dropped his eyes to look at her. He gave her a curt nod and Hunter didn't miss how Draken's eyes softened when he looked at Aurora.
Aurora grabbed Hunter's hand as they walked away from there. They stood on the terrace gazing at the sky.
"Mom, was so tense when you left. She cried the whole night as Dad consoled her. Angela, Catherine, Rasmus. Everyone was tensed and worried about you," Hunter said truthfully and it hurts her to know that her family had gone through such heartache because of her.
"When you texted Rasmus that you were fine. It was like we could breathe again." Hunter said as she looked down.
"We were glad to know that you were alright and he didn't harm you. Agatha was looking for ways. The only way we could come up with; was for you to get your wolf so you could reject him," Hunter said and her heart twisted even at the thought of rejecting Draken.
"I've got my wolf," Aurora said and Hunter looked at her surprised. He seemed happy and proud.
"You can come back with me now, you're strong enough to bear the pain of rejection," Hunter said and Aurora lightly shook her head making his brows furrow.
