She woke up in the middle of the night, for a second she was stunned to see a different ceiling than her room but within a blink, everything came back and she sighed. Her eyes closed shut again. The lamp was on, illuminating the room in a hue of soft orange.
She checked the time and it was 2 am. Her eyes widened when she recalled something. Getting out of bed she sprinted to her suitcase and fumbled through the clothes finally finding her phone in there.
It was powered off so she switched it on. The screen lit up. Putting a password in, she wrote a text to Rasmus.
'Rasmus, how is everyone? I'm okay. Tell everyone not to worry about me. I reached the North pack a few hours ago. I was tired and instantly fell asleep. Just woke up so texting you. Take care of everyone and please don't stress yourselves for me. I'm completely fine.'
She pressed the send button and the message was delivered to Rasmus.
She didn't wait for his reply and shut down her phone. She knew once he saw the message he would call her and she won't be able to control her emotions if she talked to him.
She hid her phone back in the suitcase and tried to sleep again but her stomach grumbled. She still tried to doze off but it was of no use. She was starving and couldn't sleep anymore.
Getting out of the bed, she padded towards the door making sure not to make any sound, she cautiously unlocked the door and opened it. To her relief, there was pin drop silence and no one was in sight or seemed awake.
She contemplated for a minute before deciding to go for it. Walking out of the room she quietly closed the door behind her.
She was glad the light on the stairs was on. She quietly descended the stairs. The marbled floor was cold and she was barefoot.
She looked around the place with wide eyes. Though she was a hybrid, she could still see a little through the dark. She walked down the hall in search of the kitchen and luckily she found it. Tiptoeing inside she was about to turn on the lights but decided against it.
Opening the fridge she squinted her eyes at the things in there. There were beer cans. A lot of them. She scrunched her nose in annoyance but then she smiled in relief when she found orange juice.
Taking it out she searched for a glass before pouring some for herself.
She took a sip and seriously she could feel the liquid moving down her esophagus.
She chugged the whole glass down before pouring some more. She just hoped he wouldn't find out that she drank his juice.
But he shouldn't mind either. It was him who brought her here so it was obvious she would be eating and drinking. If he cares for his food too much. She'll ask him to drop her back at her pack. She already feels so lonely and cold.
"What are you doing?" A deep gruff voice echoed in the deadly silence. A shriek tore through her lips as she abruptly turned around and did something horrendous.
She threw the content of the glass at the intruder as the orange juice splashed right across his face.
Aurora stiffened in doomed silence when the reality of the situation dawned on her. She cupped her mouth, muffling her gasp of surprise. Her eyes were wide as saucers as she gaped at Draken who had his thick brows farrowing in a scowl as juice dripped down his chin.
What has she done?
Fudge!
He would kill her now.
Right on her very first night in this pack, she made such a terrible blunder.
She fisted the glass tightly to stop the tremble of her fingers. She tried to speak but there was a stone-like obstruction formed in her throat. She had stopped breathing and her heart jackhammered in her ears.
"S...S...sorry..." She stuttered badly and her voice was barely a whisper.
She slowly put the glass on the counter and tried to make a run for her life but his calloused hand circled her wrist and she was yanked back. Her body collided with a hard chest as she abruptly moved back.
She tried to free her hand in her hysteria trying to get away from him. Her heart was quivering in fear knowing this was her end when he grabbed her waist and planted her ass on the kitchen island.
His large hands grabbed her knees as he spread her legs apart and stood in between them.
She was so stunned and terrified that not even a gasp escaped her lips. She was rigid. Not breathing at all.
Her wide eyes were fixated on his dark gaze as he slowly inched closer. She moved back, biting the insides of her cheek.
Her heart stumbled to her throat when she felt his hot ragged breath on the shell of her ear.
"Breathe," He rasped. His husky voice sent tingles down her spine.
She was still tense as a board, not breathing at all.
He let go of her knees placing his hands on the counter on either side of her thighs.
"Breathe, Aurora." His deep voice caused her heart to stutter and it was the softness in his voice that caused her heartbeat to normalize as she took in a deep breath filling her lungs with much-needed oxygen.
She could feel the wild rush of blood in her veins and the thudding of her heartbeat was still loud and clear in her ears.
He moved back and though she was sitting on the countertop he was still very much taller.
She could inhale his scent which was mixed with orange juice. She gulped. Her eyes fell on the tissue box as she tilted slightly and grabbed a few tissues, she was still oblivious to their position.
"I..I...uh... I... d..didn't m..mean to. I... got scared. I...I'm sorry," She stammered shakily as she forward the tissue.
He gazed at them and that was when she noticed their positions and her eyes doubled in size. She was caged. The urge to pull her legs up and escape from the other side of the counter was appealing but as if he read her mind. His veiny hand grabbed her thigh dominantly and she stiffened.
"You did it. You clean it," He grumbled, dropping his head to her height so they were face to face, he closed his eyes causing her to swallow thickly. He was so close and just so her thighs wouldn't touch him, she spread them more and scooted back slightly so they wouldn't touch each other.
He wasn't killing her?
She didn't like their proximity. It was making her heart beat like a marathon. Every nerve in her body trembled. She was never normal near men and now she was so damn scared of his closeness.
Biting her lower lip she shakily raised her hand and gently patted his cheeks one by one. The sooner she gets done with it the faster she could escape from him. Even though it was dark, she could see him. She was glad his eyes were closed.
She noticed his sharp jawline that was dusted with heavy stubble that gave him a rugged look. Her eyes wandered to his lips, his lower seemed plumper.
Aurora was about to wipe his lips when his tongue darted out and he licked his lips. Red flushed her cheeks as her gaze raised and met with his onyx eyes.
Dead!
"Hurry up," He muttered and she gulped. Just looking in his eyes had caused her system to malfunction but she forced herself to calm down. Focusing her eyes on his brows as she wiped them one by one. Before she could attempt to grab more tissues he was already holding the box to her. Plucking out some more she wiped his eyes. Her breathing was ragged and she was cautious not to touch his skin.
Thankfully he shut his eyes again.
She was only doing this because she was the one who threw juice at him in the first place and it was a miracle in itself that he hadn't killed her for that stunt. She should just get done with this soon and be on her merry way.
She noticed the slight crook on the bridge of his nose as if it was broken once. It was barely perceptible but due to their proximity, she noticed it. He had beautiful lashes, they were thick and long and dark black. His brows were also thick, in a straight shape. His brows demand appreciation from her which she acknowledged in her mind only. He had that kind of brows that would make him look more handsome in anger.
This was the first time she was looking at him properly.
His hair was jet black and looked smooth and silky.
He was gorgeous.
Why does a ruthless Alpha have to be so good-looking?
A few of his strands stick to his forehead. Grabbing them softly with her fingertips she cleaned his forehead and then proceeded to do the last touch-ups.
He could simply have a shower but no, he had to torment her for doing a blunder.
"D...done..." She stuttered moving back.
He opened his eyes and her breath got caught in her throat. His eyes. Those dark hues always look at her as if he could see right through her soul. His eyes were beautiful but there was this darkness lurking in those depths of his pools that terrifies her.
"Now this," He muttered stepping back as he took off his jacket revealing his white shirt which was all wet on the chest area causing her eyes to broaden even more.
As soon as he moved back, she abruptly closed her legs and hopped off the counter in an attempt to make a run to her room but how can she escape the beast?
"I'm not done, princess." The way he rasped that endearment had her heart quivering in her chest.
She dodged when his hand was about to circle her wrist. She barely glanced back before sprinting towards the stairs.
Just when she was about to climb the stairs Draken's huge body blocked her way. Her scream died down on her lips as she pivoted on the balls of her feet but this time he was fast as he grabbed her arm, whirled her around, and the next thing her world turned upside down when he hauled her up on his shoulder.
She checked the time and it was 2 am. Her eyes widened when she recalled something. Getting out of bed she sprinted to her suitcase and fumbled through the clothes finally finding her phone in there.
