It was nighttime when Aurora walked out into the backyard looking for Draken and just as she expected he was there in the garden sitting on the bench but she was surprised to find him with company. Angela sat beside him as she talked to him while beaming.
Aurora watched stunned. Why didn't Angela look scared of him?
But it was good if he was getting along with someone in her family.
She walked back inside the kitchen and started preparing herbal tea. The staff member looked at her shocked because she never used to cook back then. She gave them a cheeky smile and they grinned back at her.
The maid cleaned the kitchen as she retired to her quarters. Draken seemed so out of place in her house. She wondered if he must be feeling weird considering he was in his enemy's pack but this had to change one day and he had to become a part of her family, he was her mate after all. She noticed how he tried to avoid everyone and stayed alone most of the day. After dinner, he was in the backyard so she decided to make herbal tea for him. He often makes it for himself back in the mansion.
"What a pleasant surprise," She jumped in surprise as the kettle in her hand moved and a few hot drops fell on her hand making her wince in pain. She immediately turned on the faucet and let the cool water wash over her red skin.
"Y...you scared me," she mumbled without looking back at him.
Luca grabbed an apple from the basket and took a bite of it while eyeing the already-forming red bruise on her hand.
"How are you coping with that of yours?" Luca asked, leaning his hips against the slab.
Aurora breathed in deeply as she tried to avoid his remark.
"Would you like to have some tea?" She asked out of courtesy.
"Isn't he cruel to you?" Luca asked, trying to be nonchalant. She inhaled sharply and turned to face him. She had this urge to look him in the eyes while answering him.
"He's not cruel. He is kind to me," Aurora said, softly and Luca's eyes zeroed in on the mark that stood proudly on her neck.
"You let that f*cker mark you!" He spat, making anger consume her.
"He's my mate, Luca. If you cannot respect him. Then don't say anything at all," She said with clenched fists.
There was a time when she couldn't even talk to Luca normally being a timid little girl and look how far she has come. Draken won't know it but it was because of him she was becoming stronger.
Luca's brows shot up in surprise. "You've given yourself to him huh?" Luca grumbled, stepping closer.
"Stop spouting nonsense." She gritted.
"Listen to my advice and start looking for your mate!" Aurora said as she turned around giving her back to him and the very next second he grabbed her hand and turned her around roughly. He was holding her burnt hand making her hiss in pain. This wasn't the Luca she knew.
"You ruined me and now you're giving me advice," He sneered, lowly causing her stomach to churn in anxiety as bitter tears glossed her eyes.
"I...I..." She stuttered.
Angela froze near the kitchen's doorway staring at the scene in front of her
"Yes, you!" He squeezed her hand painfully.
"You know how much I loved you. It was me who was supposed to be your mate but you left me for that f*cker," Luca gritted out.
Aurora winced in pain as she tried to free her wrist.
"I had n...never reciprocate your feelings, Luca. I always said I will only be with my mate. It's not my fault if Moon Goddess didn't choose you for me and I never gave you any sign. We were nothing. How could you blame me? Yes, I might've thought that you could be my mate but that didn't happen. What is my fault in all this?" Aurora explained her side but he wasn't having it.
"It's your fault-" He stopped abruptly when a small punch landed on his back. He turned to glare at Angela who was glaring back at him with teary eyes.
"Let go of my sister!" Angela gritted out with big teary eyes as he gave her an icy, cold look full of menace causing her to step back in fear as he turned to glare at Aurora completely disregarding the girl who ran out of there.
"You should've chosen me as your second chance mate after rejecting Draken." He hissed.
Her chin quivered as she stared at him with her teary eyes. He was her family and seeing him hurting like this hurts her even more.
"I'm a hybrid, Luca. I couldn't reject Draken, I would've died. A...and it was the best decision. I'm glad he didn't let me reject him," She said as tears kissed her cheeks and her words fueled him.
"I never thought you could be so heartless!" Luca hissed.
Aurora tried to free her hand but he won't let her. She didn't want to shout or scream and create a scene. She didn't want others to know about Luca. She didn't want to ruin his respect. Her brother and his friendship would be ruined. She didn't want it.
"Enough, let go of me now," She gritted out and he watched her stunned.
A loud gasp escaped her lips when Luca was punched and he stumbled away. Draken stood fuming and was about to charge at Luca again when Aurora hugged him tightly.
"P...please, stop." She pleaded with a sob and he froze while glaring daggers at Luca who was matching his gaze with menace and hatred.
"Touch my mate again and I'll f*cking kill you," Draken spat in low menace as he grabbed Aurora's hand and walked away from there. He didn't know where he was going in his anger. So Aurora took the lead and took him into her room.
Angela watched Luca with teary eyes as he wiped the blood from his lower lip.
"L...Luca," She stammered and he gave her an ominous glare.
"Get out of my way you, little brat!" He spat, walking past her coldly. He was angry at her for being a telltale to Draken.
