As Draken expected, that wolf jumped on the car ruining their escape but that wasn't it. There were rocks on the road as if they were put there specifically to stop their car.
Draken glanced at Aurora once who was running toward the woods.
Draken took out his silver knife and threw it at the wolf that was lunging at him. The knife pierced the wolf's eye as it howled out in pain.
Draken pounced on that wolf as he pulled out the knife and sliced the wolf's throat.
Draken hasn't shifted yet as one of the wolves fell on the floor with a thud, dead.
He counted their attackers. There were six of them but he knew there were two more hiding, he could sense it. His warriors were dealing with three whereas one was already dead.
Draken's eyes swept toward Aurora's direction and his heart came to his mouth when he saw one of the wolves running in her direction.
A hiss of pain tore through his lips when a shot was fired and a bullet graced his torso gracing his skin badly.
Draken lunged at the man holding a gun as he struggled to snatch it from him when he noticed the other wolf prowling at him from behind. With a low growl, Draken pulled the trigger and the bullet blew that man's half face.
The wolf behind him snarled and lunged at him as Draken abruptly rolled and shot fire and that wolf fell on him.
He gritted as he pushed that wolf off him and got up. He shot fire killing three of the wolves who were fighting with his warriors, just then another two wolves showed up. His warriors attacked them and Draken turned around.
His wolf growled at him that their mate was in danger.
With a low growl, he shifted and ran into the woods.
Her scent was strong. So f*cking strong that it was driving him crazy.
His paws roughly landed on the ground as he ran even faster. There was fear coiling in his heart and it was Aurora's emotions.
A fear-filled scream filled the surroundings and his heart constricted in fear as he fastened his pace ignoring the pain in the side of his abdomen.
He came into a clearing and the scene in front of him made his blood boil. The wolf was hovering over her, inhaling her scent.
Draken knew that wolf was about to shift and before that wolf could do that Draken let out a menacing growl. Garnering the attention of the wolf as he turned around.
Aurora instantly moved away as Draken pounced on that wolf and ripped his throat apart in one vicious attack.
The lifeless body of the wolf fell on the floor with a thump as Draken spit out the flesh that he ripped from the wolf's throat.
A pain shot through his body as his wolf stumbled. A sob tore through Aurora's lips as she staggered to him and looped her arms around his wolf form. She sobbed in his black fur.
His wolf gnashed its teeth as he came alive at her touch. Her body was heated up and she was trembling.
He heard footsteps as he turned around abruptly hiding Aurora's small frame behind his wolf.
His warriors came in sight wearing shorts. Solomon was injured as the other one was holding his weight up. "Alpha," Carter said, holding a pair of shorts that he must've gotten from the car.
Draken took it between his teeth as he went behind the woods and shifted. He wore the shorts and stepped out. He would've done it there in front of them but he didn't want to make Aurora uncomfortable. She was already in heat.
Draken walked back there only to find his warriors staring at the floor with their wolves showing in their eyes.
"Leave!" Draken hissed walking towards Aurora as he hid her behind his back.
"Alpha,"
"Go get to the nearby city and get yourself treated," Draken said calmly.
"What about you-"
"I'm going to the pack. Now leave." Draken said calmly knowing very well that the attackers won't be coming after them anymore.
They were all dead.
These wolves were royal warriors. Alpha King shouldn't be messing with him like this. Sending his warriors to kill Draken. The wolf that was after Aurora. It was obvious he was ordered to kill Aurora. Draken could accept any attack or suffering on him but if they dared to even think of harming Aurora, they'll pay. They were going to pay for what they did today.
Draken's warriors clenched their jaws as they inhaled deeply. Aurora's heat was affecting them and it was making him so damn furious.
"Leave," There was a warning in his cold tone. The last thing he wanted to do was kill them.
Slowly they turned around and left.
Draken inhaled sharply and her scent was all he could inhale. He turned around and the sight of her left him breathless.
She looked at him with those teary wide ocean eyes and parted lips as she panted heavily.
F*ck!
He needs to get her to the pack.
"Are you okay?" He asked gently, stepping closer to her as she bobbed her head. She was clenching her fists.
"Once I shift, get on top of me," He rasped and moved away from her as he shifted.
His huge black wolf faced her as she padded to him. She clutched his fur as he lowered down and she got on top of him.
He gave her a side glance as if she understood him. Her shivering body braced herself as she clutched his fur in her fist, with a low growl he dashed into the woods at full speed.
She was in heat and it was dangerous for her to be out there in the forest. Her scent was potent in the air. He just hoped that no rogue would block his way otherwise things could get dirty.
He gnashed his molars controlling the pain and the need to have her. He wasn't healing because he was running and not resting. This thing alone was worsening his wound but for him, Aurora's safety matters the most.
He didn't even trust his wolf around her but he needs to control himself. It would be torturous but he would die before laying his hand on her without her consent.
