“N…no… please… don’t hurt me,” she whispered shakily as big fat tears poured out of her eyes and her chin quivered in fear.
“I don’t have a choice,” his voice was gruff and it sliced right through her heart.
He was her mate. How could he hurt her like that without any remorse?
“How c…can you hurt your m…mate?” She whispered in a broken shaky voice and he gnashed his molars looking away.
“You’ll be fine,” he grumbled as he grabbed her knees and forced her legs open.
She let out a cry and immediately pulled the dress down between her legs, covering her intimacy. He inhaled sharply. His eyes fixated on her thighs.
“P…please… don’t do this,” she begged him with big teary eyes and he refused to meet her gaze.
She took in a sharp breath when his veiny hand grabbed her thigh. Her eyes widened when she felt the wild sparks raking through her body and the warm tingling feeling where he was touching her.
He brought his knife closer and she visibly tensed. His hold on her thigh tightened and his thick brows were knitted in a frown.
“Why are you doing this?” She said brokenly and he clenched his jaw.
“Because I don’t want to hurt you,” he rasped, raising his head and their eyes met.
Where she had tears and fear swarming in her eyes he seemed to be fighting his own battle as the specs of gold swirled in his hues for a slight second before he tsked in agitation and her heart ceased to beat when he pushed the sharp edge of the knife into her skin. Slicing her flesh.
Pain shot through her but she didn’t scream. She just watched him afflicting pain on her but why did his face look as if he was in pain himself?
The sparks were so intense that she didn’t even realize she was in pain. She watched as the blood dripped from her inner thigh onto the sheets.
The cut was small and not too deep. It’ll heal in a day or two with her healing powers.
He put the knife on the side table and faced her. She had pushed her dress back down covering her thighs.
He looks less threatening all of a sudden.
And it gave her the time to think and breathe. Why did he cut her like that? That too in the place where no one could see.
He will not force her.
He made her bleed, her blood was on the sheets. His proof to the elders regarding her purity.
But why did he do that?
Why was he being kind to her?
Though it appeared he would never accept this.
Aurora wiped her tears as she tried to get off the bed but he placed his hand on her knee stopping her.
“Stay,” he said and get off the bed heading to the en-suite bathroom.
She didn’t know why but she listened to him.
Draken was back holding a first aid box. She watched in sheer silence as he sat on the couch beside the bed and motioned at her to come closer.
She hesitated but did as he wanted. “Pull your dress up, I need to treat the cut,” he said and she became speechless.
“I c…can do it,” she whispered and forward her hand so he could give her the first aid box but he narrowed his eyes at her and refused to hand her the box.
"Pull your dress up," He said sternly and she refused to oblige.
He sighed.
"Either you pull your dress up and do as I say or else I'll have to do it forcefully." He warned, making her gulp and bit her lower lip to control her emotions and fear as she slowly pulled her dress up from the wounded thigh only, until the cut was visible.
He avoided looking at her smooth skin.
He cleaned the cut with the cotton. The wound was healing way too slowly but then again she was a hybrid.
He cleaned the wound and tended to it.
Aurora couldn't help but stare at him as he was focused on the task at hand. His brows were furrowed.
His hair was ruffled covering his forehead. Now as she was calm, she could notice that he looked like a normal bad boy with that casual clothing and ruffled hair.
No one could say that he was the ruthless Alpha of the North. The vicious man whose name was known across the lands.
Her eyes widened when he looked up and their gaze met. She flushed and immediately looked away as he pulled her dress down.
"All done," He said as he placed the first aid box back. She stared at her thighs and then at the door. She should probably leave. He got the evidence for the morning. There was no need for her in his room, gladly.
She got up from the bed and barely took a few limping steps towards the door. "Where are you going?" His deep voice had her halting her footsteps.
"M..my room." She whispered without looking at him and continued to walk.
"You will sleep here tonight," He commanded and she stiffened.
She slowly turned to look at him. There was fear and confusion written all over her face.
"Your scent must be on the sheets," He said calmly but his voice was thick as if he was restraining himself.
He didn't say anything further as he got on the bed and lay on one side switching off the lamp.
Aurora stood there unmoving as she watched him. He draped his arm over his eyes.
Aurora stared at the other side of the bed. Though it was a king-sized bed still he occupied most of the space on the bed.
He was right. Her scent must have to be there, on the sheets. For now, her scent which was on the sheets would fade away by morning. The sheets would only smell like both of them if they stayed on them for a long time.
But she was scared to share a bed with him. What if he changes his mind in the middle of the night? What will she do then?
If he wanted to have her then he could've easily had her just a while ago but he didn't do that. He was being kind enough to not force her and not only that, he was even going to trick his elders for her.
She breathed in deeply and slowly padded to the other side of the bed while limping. She noticed that the cut was towards the back of her thigh so when she walked her wounded skin won't rub against the other thigh.
She stared at him and tried to focus on his heartbeat. He seemed calm. Maybe he had fallen asleep.
She gulped.
If he wanted, he could've tied her to the bed to have her scent on the sheets but he was decent enough to tell her and let her come around with the compulsory terms on her own.
With a silent deep breath, she got on the bed and lay on her side, almost at the edge of the bed. She grabbed an extra pillow and placed it between them making sure not to make many movements.
She gave her back to him and lay there like a stiff statue. As the minutes ticked by her erratic heart calmed down and her mind cleared up a little as she relaxed.
She inhaled deeply and sighed in contentment but then her eyes widened and she realized what she had done. This room smells like him and him sleeping right beside her made his scent a lot more potent.
Aurora stared at the window as the moonlight illuminated mid-quarter of the room in a beautiful calming glow.
She lay there as slowly her eyes started to droop. Within a few seconds, her breathing became soft as she fell into a deep slumber.
