Confessions
“Earth to Yuri” Jason snapped his fingers across Yuri’s face. It wasn’t one of the moments where Yuri had zoned out into her pit of darkness. Her thoughts were more focused on the recent events that occurred no more than 16 hours ago.
“Yuri!” Jason called out for her again. Obviously he may have dressed decently today too but still his lack of patience would trump over anything.
“What?!” Yuri exclaimed breaking out of her bubble. She hasn’t decided yet to tell Jason about the Sasha incident and nor did she want to keep her hopes up only to be let down in the end.
“What are you thinking about?” Jason crossed his arms and stared at Yuri intensely. He knew when Yuri zoned out she was likely to go on an alcoholic journey but Yuri swore on the depth of their friendship that she was two months fully sober.
“Nothing important. What did you want to tell me?”
“Nothing important” Jason replied grumpily. He should star in TV shows, since he’s a drama queen. Yuri rolled her eyes but leaned in closer to him to give him a hug. She needed him more than he could ever know. He was the only thing that kept her going, but curiosity about Sasha was killing her and so did hiding the truth from Jason.
“Come on, tell me. Did Paige agree to go out with you the other day?” Yuri changed the subject, or maybe the subject had been Paige from the very beginning. Only if she was listening to Jason in the first place, she thought.
“Haven’t you been listening to me this whole time? She rejected my offer for a date! I think she digs girls . . . why are my luck with girls so bad lately?” Jason sat down on the chair and whined like a little girl. They both were now at the charity event, right next to their stalls which was supposed to sell teddy bears.
“She’s not a lesbian! Stop freaking out! Hasn’t the thought of her being the daughter of a priest ever crossed your stupid mind? She’s just scared to have a little fun” Yuri stared at Paige who stole a few glances at Jason. “Go and talk to her, use your charm and I’ll keep Mr. Johnson busy” Yuri nudged Jason. It was true, it had been a while since Yuri did her part as a best friend to help Jason with his love life. It had been Jason all this time to console Yuri with her love life; it was high time to return the favor.
“Say what?”
“Go now! I mean it. I am not letting her father control her feelings, which she clearly has for you. Besides, your game is off these days. Get your game on!” Yuri pushed Jason towards Paige and made her way straight to Mr. Johnson. Jason seemed a little hesitant, hell he looked terrified. But he found the courage to go and seek another shot with Paige.
Meanwhile Yuri passed a few stalls until she found Mr. Johnson. Taking a deep breath she walked towards him, until a hand stopped her from walking any further. Yuri turned around to see who it was. Whitney.
“Are you stalking me now?” Yuri frowned while Whitney smirked. Whitney let go of Yuri’s hand and just stared at her. Her eyes seemed like it had been longing to meet with Yuri’s.
“Is walking into an event, stalking? I don’t think so” Whitney defended herself. Her self-ego was floating all over the place.
“Okay, good to see you. I have to go now” Yuri gave Whitney her mean look. But before she could try to find Mr. Johnson, he had already found her.
“Yuri, you should be with Jason, opening your stall. What are you doing? And who is your friend here?” Mr. Johnson started with all his questions. Yuri gulped and just stared at him. Why hadn’t she thought further into this?
“Alright then, Miss Williams. I’ll escort you to your stall” Mr. Johnson turned towards the stalls, which made everything worse since Yuri knew she had to stall him until Jason worked his charm. Unable to quickly react to the situation, Yuri did the only thing she didn’t want to do. Confess to a Priest. Now that one wasn’t something she’d want to put in her bucket list.
“Wait Mr. Johnson. I have a confession to make” Yuri mumbled out the words.
“Miss Williams, there is a place and a time for confessions” Mr. Johnson turned around to look at Yuri. His actions weren’t just scary, he looked scary as well. Yuri felt pity for Paige who had to deal with such a judgmental father like him.
“No there isn’t. Not when the person is filled with remorse and guilt” Yuri blurted out. This not only shocked Mr. Johnson, Whitney had her jaw dropped wide open as well.
“Alright then, what is it that you want to confess my dear?” Mr. Johnson approached softly this time. Swallowing hard, Yuri tried to think of a good reason to what kind of confession would buy more time.
“I urm . . . I have a sort err of a problem” Did that make sense? Yuri questioned herself. Yuri began to wish Sasha was around; she’d handle issues like this much more properly without making a mess of things.
“What is your confession Miss Williams? I haven’t got all day and there’s a charity event I have to run so, please make it quick” Mr. Johnson grunted rudely.
“I am finding myself be more attracted to females” Yuri said innocently. Whitney started coughing as soon as she heard it. Meanwhile Mr. Johnson narrowed his eyes.
“It’s true. I mean I don’t like boys anymore and girls look way better. What should I do?” Giving her best puppy innocent look Yuri pouted. She knew she was about to hear an earful of Mr. Johnson. He’d try his best to covert her or maybe put a ‘hex’ on her to make her straight.
“Oh. I thought I thought . . . you and Jason . . . who is this girl?” His fingers pointed toward Whitney. For a second Yuri had completely forgotten that Whitney was there enjoying the show too. She smirked at Yuri first then turned towards Mr. Johnson.
“I am the girl she is pining over. It’s just wrong, she won’t stop stalking me. She even tried to kiss me once. You got to help her” Whitney stepped in and as usual made things worse.
“Oh my goodness. It’s a demon within you. You can’t let yourself down this path! I don’t want you in the event anymore or anywhere near my daughter. Please leave the premises Miss Williams and you.” Mr. Johnson pointed at the both of them to leave. Yuri groaned in annoyance and glared at Whitney.
“You weren’t supposed to butt in! I wanted to stall him for Jason but now I practically just buried him, thanks to you” Yuri snapped as soon as they were outside the gate. Before Whitney could reply Yuri took out her phone and quickly texted Jason a ‘SOS’. If he gets caught, Yuri won’t hear the end of it.
“Sorry. I have a habit of ruining things” Whitney replied staring at Yuri. “I said I am sorry, now you can wipe off that frown on your face. It makes you look nasty”
“Why are you here in the first place? If you’re stalking me, it’s getting old and creepy” Yuri snapped again. What was the deal with Whitney anyway? There’s a limit of Whitney drama that Yuri can handle and she’s crossing the limit right about now.
“I check up on you. Sorry that I just happen to care!”
“Why do you care? You were the meanest person I have ever met!”
“Really? Then you clearly haven’t met yourself” Whitney’s remark made Yuri’s blood boil. Rolling off her eyes again Yuri walked faster, leaving Whitney standing at the pavement alone. Yuri couldn’t do this toady, she couldn’t handle more drama. She already had enough on her plate.
“Why are you following me? Leave me alone” Noticing Whitney’s footsteps right behind her she walked even faster. But Whitney caught up to her.
“I am dropping you home. It’s dark and it’s not right to leave you out here walking by yourself. And You’re welcome” Whitney meant no harm, Yuri could see that but for some reason Yuri was annoyed today. Maybe it had nothing to do with Whitney but Yuri found herself releasing all her anger anyway.
“I can take care of myself, I don’t need a chaperone” Yuri stated walking towards her lane. Her feet hurt because of how fast she was walking to avoid conversation with Whitney. She was almost as close to her house when something Whitney said made her stop walking any further.
“Why can it be Belle but not me?” The question itself had a lot of meaning behind it. It was a question Yuri asked herself when Sasha was so in love with her. But right now Yuri was pretty sure Whitney hadn’t meant the question for Sasha, when it should be.
“Belle? We didn’t . . .”
“I know. But at some point, I think you did. I saw the way you looked at her back then” Again Yuri felt herself shiver. It wasn’t her who looked at Belle that way. It was Sasha and the subject of Belle always made her quiver with fear and sadness.
“I never liked Belle. At least not that way” Yuri turned to face Whitney and told her the truth bluntly.
“Then who do you like? Is there someone in your life?” Whitney asked. It was a question Yuri dreaded to answer. She loved Sasha, but Sasha wasn’t in her life anymore. And it was surprisingly the most hardest question to answer. Yuri tried to fight back her tears but she knew Whitney could see right through her.
“I thought you said you didn’t like me anymore” Yuri managed to say out loud. Deep down Yuri knew Whitney was still after her but this was always what Yuri was afraid of. Confessions. Yuri could tell Whitney was about to make another.
“I never said that, I just said I am over it. I lost all hope on it but not my feelings” Whitney stood close to Yuri. Her eyes piercing into Yuri’s. Without any warning she locked her lips in Yuri’s and pulled her closer. It had been ages since Yuri had kissed anybody. She left a tear escape her eyes as she returned the kiss. It didn’t take long until Yuri realized what she was doing. Her swift hands reacted and pushed Whitney away as quick as possible.
“Never do that again!” Yuri snapped while wiping her lips with her hand.
“When it’s a dare its fine but when it’s real, you chicken out” Whitney chuckled slowly trying to hide her embarrassment by stating something lamely.
“I don’t have feelings for you Whitney. I never did. Making out with you did help me to realize the biggest thing in my life. That was my sexuality. That’s the only thing that’s common between us.” Yuri said giving up the thought of escaping to avoid this conversation. She began to realize the more she ran, the more she left things unhandled.
“Then for whom do you have feelings for Yuri? If you’re gonna reject me, at least say the truth.” It was the truth, making Whitney come back to her. She didn’t know the truth and Yuri had no wish in telling her.
“It doesn’t matter. Can we just not talk about this?” Thinking about Sasha made it worse. Yuri bit her tongue trying not to cry, but she knew they were already falling down her cheeks.
“Who is Sasha?” Whitney whispered making Yuri raise goose bumps all over her arms.
“What . . . where did you hear that name?” Yuri felt suffocated, her mind began to think of all the reasons as to how Whitney could’ve learnt Sasha’s name. All of them led to Belle.
“You said her name the night we made out in the closet and Belle mentioned her name accidently twice. So I’m guessing that’s whom you have feelings for. Where is she? Does she go to our school?” So Whitney didn’t know but she was aiming to find out. Yuri ignored her questions; she wasn’t in the mood of having a heart to heart with Whitney.
“I don’t want to talk about that with you”
“Just tell me the truth for once Yuri.” Whitney stressed her words more. She wouldn’t leave, Yuri knew that and she was making everything difficult for Yuri. Yuri held her breath and wiped away her tears. She tried to be strong but something was making her weaker by the minute. She tried her best to not burst into tears in front of Whitney.
“She left me, alright. So if you’re done, leave me alone because telling you the truth torments me!” Yuri yelled at Whitney and walked inside her house. She took small steps into the living room and took huge breaths to control herself. Talking to Whitney about Sasha was weakening her strength. She was more upset than she could comprehend. Not having Sasha by her side was destroying her. No matter how hard she tries, Yuri found herself always being a disappointment to the rest. It had been Sasha in her life to always make things better.
“You gave me a life Sasha but you’re killing me” Yuri whispered as she burst into crying. Her heart ached for Sasha but she’d never know.
*BLANK*
I blinked twice before realizing that I had been crying. I looked around to see where I was, only to find a familiar figure standing in front of me by the door. I looked at her all confused until words fumed out of her lips.
“Tell me where that BITCH Sasha lives and I will tear her into pieces. She clearly has no idea how dumb she is for leaving you and hurting you. Now that I think about it, your alcoholic days must’ve been because of how hurt you’ve been. I’m sorry that she left you when you needed her Yuri. I won’t do that to you. I will stand by you, I won’t ever let you go. I am even ready to give you time, all the time that you need to recover from this pathetic girl who didn’t give a crap. And there will be a day when you’ll love nothing but to kiss me just like you did tonight.”
