Whitney’s POV
“I can’t stand this” I buried my hands in my face. They say to speak of the truth and truth shall set you free, but it doesn’t. It makes you even more trapped. I was back in the park, just crying and weeping like a little girl. I don’t even know who I am anymore.
“It’ll pass” Belle’s voice was soft as her fingers brushed through my hair. She was about the closest person I have. She knew how I felt; she’s been in my shoes I guess. Apparently Yuri wants nothing to do with me. How do I get that through to this thick useless skull?
“How? I just confessed to her, again and it never ends well.” My voice cracked underneath my very own subtleness. I wasn’t just some girl pining over this other girl and crying non stop about it, I remined myself of how stupid that sounds. But that was me right now. I had the nerve to go ask out a girl who just started living her life after tough days. I mean who does that? Me, obviously.
“It’ll pass” Belle whispered again, making me wonder if she was actually listening to anything I was saying.
“Teach me how to make it pass” I wanted it to stop and end. I need to move on but I cant, not when Im feeling like this. I tried staying away, I tried being mean, I tried being extra mean then I got punched. But this time when I told the truth and was actually nice and sincere, she told me to fuck off.
“It’ll take time”
I rolled my eyes so hard it fell on my knees. “Can you form a sentence longer than three words?”
“I guess so” Belle smirked this time still untangling frictions of my hair using her fingers as a comb. I gave her a stare before I continued.
“I was even ready to be her rebound. It’s weird how things turn around” I sounded pathetic and as if Yuri was the only girl in the world. I knew that already but I cant stop.
“You’ll be fine”
“Yuri, she . . . um kissed me back for a second before she pulled away. And shattered my world apart by telling me to stay the fuck away from her like I was a creepy person” I clenched my fingers slowly, reminiscing her words which indicated how wrong I was for kissing her and being near her while all I wished for her was nothing but happiness.
“You are a creepy person, Whitney. And as far as that one second kiss goes, she probably missed that feeling, I know I do” Belle sighed slowly.
“Are you still defending her?” I frowned as I said it. We’ve become some sort of like a rejected team together. We’ve gotten closer over the months that passed by but none of us called each other besties.
“No, I am on your side. We vent together like we promised” Belle gave me a slight sincere smile, her eyes glimmered through the darkness that surrounded the park. This was now our spot, our venting spot.
“You’re filled with sunshine while I am feeling like I’ve hit rock bottom” I stated looking at her. Normally she’ have this worried look on her face and I’ll have to be the one to comfort her but in this case she was comforting me.
“Then I’ll help you get up.” Belle whispered as her eyes locked up in mine, without any notice she leaned in tilting her head slightly.
“What are you . . .” I managed to say but I was cut off by her lips pressing against mine. It wasn’t a long kiss; it was a rather short one. “doing?” I finished my sentence as soon as her lips parted. She was still so close I could smell her fresh breath on my face.
“Giving you something called a distraction, free of charge.” She replied quickly as she came even closer this time. My heart pounded faster, and I felt weak in my legs. Her fingers wiped the dried tears on my cheeks
“How does that …” Her lips were on mine again. She woulnt let me talk, almost as if me talking would make her stop from continuing further. This time my hands caressed her face slowly. It wasn’t passionate, it was sincere. It wasn’t pity, it was sincere.  “even work?” I whispered finishing my sentence again. Belle was trying something new, and although there was a 98.99 percent that this ending bad, I found myself vouching for whatever she has planned. If this was distraction, it was working. I wasn’t worried about Yuri’s words, I was now more worried about ever being to finish my sentences.
“Like this” Belle kept coming closer as if she was giving me a chance to back out if I wanted. She wasn’t force kissing me, she was testing me.
“Belle, I don’t have feelings . . . “ I began but then again, why do I even bother. Her soft lips brushed against mine and this time she let me in on a little tongue action. It wasn’t weird, my mind screamed. Although if someone saw us, they’ probably beg us to get a room. Belle bit my lower lips slightly as she giggled slowly, which made me smile. Breaking away from her, I looked at her wondering if this made things weird between us. “Belle that was . .Would you let me finish a sen . .  She was literally taking my breath away and every part of this whole taking distraction into a whole new level just maybe working.   “tence?” I chuckled as she whispered a small “No”.

Sasha’s POV
“No” I choked out again almost spilling my espreski on Jason’s car seat. I stared at him with hopes of him replying that he was joking but he looked serious.
“Yes” Jason said firmly while nodding. His eyes didn’t stare back at me because he was focusing on the road.
“Noo” I wasn’t sure this that was a question or still more of me trying to process what he had just said.
“Saying no won’t change it from not happening because it did. Yuri had to visit a psychiatrist, she gets drunk every night and when she’s numb she manages to call me to pick her up and here’s the best part, she scolds me while I help her” Jason gave me a frown this time as I scoffed. He was pinning Yuri’s lack of tolerance during pain on me.
“I didn’t think how it could affect her . . that bad. I was just trying to save her life” I defended myself but I didn’t see how that helped this conversation.
“But she didn’t need saving, she needed you Sasha. I still don’t regret our decision; she’s alive because of it. But you should have seen her two months ago, she was literally walking dead. Yes, a zombie, except she didn’t eat everyone’s brain, she kept eating mine! Everyone was so upset.”
“How’s Mrs. Williams now?” The thought of Yuri drowning in pain, made me feel so sad. I promised her that I’ll be with her no matter what and I broke the promise. I still am unsure to what brought me back but if I’m back for good, I can keep that promise.
“Well she’s engaged to Daniel now, and that’s kinda a long story too” Jason’s replies keep getting more shocking by the second.
“Wow, I’m gone for five months and everything changes?” I murmured quietly trying to wrap my mind around the fact that Mrs. Williams is getting hitched. Yuri must’ve been so happy that her mom has found her happiness, I thought hastily.
“Which is exactly why, you shouldn’t leave again.” Jason stated as he pulled over to the clinic. I think dying was better than walking into that clinic again only to find Yuri has grown another tumor in her brain. I tried to brush away the bad thoughts.
“Let’s hope I don’t have to”
My eyes beamed at the sight of Dr. Nick who looked surprised to see me. He gestured us to get in his office. No appointments, guess we were special. Jason walked in with me, like he was my guardian or something.
“Yuri, you’re here early. We just did a checkup a week ago. Is everything alright?” Dr. Nick sat down on his chair and asked.
“Yuri’s fine. It’s me I am worried about” I spoke quietly watching how the realization hits Dr. Nick within seconds.
“Sasha? You . . . but . . . you’re back? How?” He immediately took my hand and checked my pulse. So his first instinct being to check on my health made me happy and terrified. I glanced at Jason who gave me nod and a smile. “How are you feeling? When did you come back?”
“I just switched. I had an awful headache first then it died down. I am here because I have no idea why or how I came back. Do you think you can figure it out?” I asked Dr. Nick seeking for his help. He nodded and wrote me a memo to get a CT scan and a MRI.
“Honestly I have no idea either how you got back. This doesn’t make any sense but hopefully a scan would get us somewhere.” He replied as he handed me the memo. Jason took it from there, he was the one who paid for the expenses and stayed until the scan was done. We waited patiently until the results came back. I hoped and prayed that the results would be fine. If the tumor was back there is lesser than 1% chance of Yuri being able to bear more damage to her brain and coming out of it alive.
“Yuri Williams” the nurse called out, and I stood up slowly. Jason went to fetch the result and I just stared at the floor blankly. I wasn’t sure I had it in me to hear any more bad news about Yuri’s health.
Jason wrapped his fingers around my hand and led me into Dr. Nick’s office. I breathe in slowly and waited until he opened up the huge envelope and took a long look at the CT scan. There was a huge question mark on his face, his eyes showed concern and doubt.
“I don’t believe this” Dr. Nick pointed out. My heart sank and my body automatically tried to compress and brace myself from hearing a bad news.
“What is it? Is there another tumor in her brain? Is that why I am back?” I started mumbling. Jason leaned next to me and gave me a quick hug. I waited for Dr. Nick to speak but he was still lost in the scan.
“I’ve never ever encountered a brain so extraordinary like Yuri’s. It makes me question science in the first place” Dr. Nick muttered.
“What do you mean?” Jason and I said in unison, both confused.
“There’s no tumor. No other issues, nothing explains why you’re back. I don’t think it’s cancer because I just ran a blood test on Yuri a week ago and she’s fine. She is perfectly fine and you’re back. It doesn’t make any sense but I think that’s how Yuri’s brain is mapped” Dr. Nick had a huge smile on his face.
“Okay, so no tumor? That’s good. What’s bad is that you can’t give an explanation” Jason finally spoke up. He was crossed but I was curious.
“My expertise tells me that you have always been a part of Yuri’s life. You stayed buried within her all these years, as I said before Yuri has an extraordinary brain. It’s not a metaphor for her being a genius or anything. It’s more of how her brain functions; it’s more active than any other human being I’ve ever seen.” Dr. Nick replied gently.
“So me being back is totally fine because I am a part of Yuri’s life?” I asked him, still not being able to understand what he was saying.
“She didn’t create you, you were already there. You are not some sort of a disorder either. You’re different people inside one body. I am literally shaking as we speak. This is extraordinary, you guys can make it to the news, you know” Dr. Nick grinned as he explained further. I looked at Jason who had his jaw dropped wide open.
“We’d like us to be discreet Dr. Nick.” I replied quickly. Scientifically even I couldn’t explain our situation. Nor the fact that me and Yuri saw each other, touched each other. Nothing made sense, and now neither was Dr. Nick.
“Yeah I understand. As far as Yuri is concerned, medically she’s fine. She’s healthy and she’s going to live a healthy life just as she promised she would. My gut tells me it was the meditation that helped to bring you back. I advised Yuri not to throw away her life, being wasted on alcohol but when she finally understood it and became sober, she started meditating again. She told me she wanted to gain control of herself again and it’s the only time of the day she tunes out the rest of the world”
“She gained control of her life again . . . Things are making sense now.” I began to wonder why I wasn’t back for five months. That was a start in making me understand what was really going on.
“Am I the only one who isn’t buying this shit?” Jason waved his both hands in the air like he’s giving up. He was confused too and worst part was Dr. Nick wasn’t making the situation any better.
“What’s the problem Jason?” Dr. Nick asked.
“Everything has a scientific explanation Dr. Nick, and so will the issue with Sasha being back. You can’t just sit there and call it fate” Jason shot back.
“True, which is why I am not calling it fate. This doesn’t however mean Yuri has supernatural powers or anything. It’s just that she has a super brain that activated Sasha, and even though my calculations scientifically was wrong, now that Sasha’s back, I don’t think she’ll disappear like that again, unless Yuri encounters another surgery. To be honest, this is a one in a million case. Yuri is lucky to be alive after the surgery. Do you know that you both channel your energy? Meaning that when Yuri was at her weakest, she still got strength from you, literally speaking” Dr. Nick studied the scans again, apparently right now even more than Jason, I think Dr. Nick is happier to the fact that I was back.
“I am speechless right know” I murmured quietly. Even with all my intentions, I had reduced Yuri’s physical pain, I had given her enough strength to survive. I channeled my energy with hers.
“It’s always science and it’s logic that I always preached and believed, but in your case it’s more. It’s beautiful. Brain is always a great mystery, which is why I love my job but I’ll never forget this case. If you want to be discreet, I am not pushing you or anything. It’s clearly none of my business, but as far as your health goes, you’re fine. You’re different but you’re fine” Dr. Nick assured me and Jason while giving me the scan report. I stared at Jason for a minute before getting out of the room.

“You’re awfully quiet” I broke the ice finally after ten minutes of silence in the car.
“I’m trying to process what Dr. Nick just said.” Jason sighed slowly. “I always knew Yuri was special but not like this, I guess this kinda makes other people look dumber” Jason chuckled a bit lightning up the situation.
“We are not geniuses; I just think we were just meant to be together. “I smiled as I said it. I looked at Jason for a second and continued “For what it’s worth, thanks Jason”
“For what?”
“For everything. For taking care of Yuri. Mostly for not turning out to be a douche “  I laughed as I said it. Jason gave me a look but then he replied with a smile.
“I am gonna ignore that last part. Thank you, I’m glad you’re back” Jason gave me a small peck on the cheek which was awkward I might add. He was sincerely happy and so was I. He parked in front of Yuri’s house.
“Okay I’m off. Time to go tell my girlfriend that she can’t kiss other girls” I smirked at the thought. Although I was completely unaware of how Yuri would handle things if she saw me. Would we be back instantly or is there a Whitney I have to step over in the process?
“Alright, you do that. I am heading back home, I have a date to plan” Jason smirked back.
I walked into the house with hopes that I carry deep in my heart. I was finally going to let Yuri know that I am back, I was finally going to stop her from hurting. Nothing stood in the way anymore and nothing will. Yuri belongs to me and only to me. And I’ll love her forever and ever and ever.
