                    Celeste was Alaric's younger sister.
She died at eighteen from a rare genetic disorder—Huntington's disease.
I let out a bitter laugh: "Celeste would never try to sabotage our marriage or throw herself at you with zero boundaries!"
"You fucking love having Aurora worship you, but you hide behind your dead sister to justify it!"
"Alaric, do you have any shame left?"
SMACK!
Before I could say another word, Alaric's hand cracked across my face again, even harder this time.
Like I'd hit a nerve, he barked orders at his security team:
"Lock this bitch in the cage! She stays there until she begs for forgiveness!"
The guards immediately dragged over this metal dog crate and started shoving me toward it.
I fought them with everything I had, but during the struggle they twisted my arm so hard I heard it snap.
Pain shot through me like lightning—I was drenched in cold sweat, my whole body shaking.
Just when I thought things couldn't get worse...
A convoy of fifteen black Rolls-Royce Phantoms pulled up in perfect formation outside the Marchand estate.
The doors opened and out stepped dozens of men in identical dark suits.
They were built like NFL players, moving with military precision, and they looked ready for war.
Leading the charge was Rowan.
"Boss!"
The second Rowan spotted me on the ground, he came sprinting over.
Within seconds, every one of Alaric's elite bodyguards was on the pavement, completely overpowered.
Rowan helped me to my feet, quickly assessed my injuries, then turned to glare at Alaric with murder in his eyes:
"Alaric fucking Marchand! You piece of shit, how dare you lay a hand on our boss!"
Before Alaric could even respond, my old classmate Devon stepped forward and dislocated both his shoulders with clinical efficiency.
Not stopping there, Devon called out to me:
"We got payback for you, boss!"
Alaric was screaming in agony while Aurora rushed to his side:
"Who the hell are you people? Do you have any idea who he is?"
Helena, one of my senior partners, grabbed Aurora by the hair and slapped her twice across the face—hard.
"Some random homewrecker thinks she can bark at our boss?"
"I don't give a shit who he is. Nobody hurts our boss and walks away!"
Aurora held her swollen cheek, stammering: "You... she... what..."
She was trying to figure out who the hell I actually was.
Helena smiled coldly as she made the introduction:
"Allow me to introduce the founder and CEO of AskIQ—our boss, Isolde Whitmore!"
