Henry shot her one disgusted look and walked away.
The crowd was cracking up:
"Lady who talks shit gets to taste shit—perfect!"
"Karma's a bitch! Even her own son disowned her and she's still acting crazy!"
"She had it coming! Should've thought about this when she was tormenting that poor woman."
Reporters went nuts with their cameras, flashbulbs going off like crazy.
She was curled up on the ground, puking and wailing at the same time.
The once high-and-mighty Mrs. Harrison was now just a pile of human garbage everyone hated.
I quietly closed the curtains.
People who spew poison eventually choke on their own venom.
This world never runs short on payback.
The day I got discharged, I walked past the Elvador basement.
The door was cracked open—I could see Lillian inside.
She was huddled in the corner, hair torn out in clumps, face covered in scratches, mumbling over and over:
"I'm not a mommy... I don't deserve to be a mommy..."
She'd completely snapped.
Henry appeared behind me somehow, his voice all raspy:
"You didn't torture me like this... means you still have feelings for me?"
I turned around, looked at his sunken eyes, his totally broken face.
"Hell no."
A tiny spark flashed in his eyes.
"Liam's still my flesh and blood. I can't let him become an orphan."
"But seeing you two makes me sick."
I stared straight at him. "I'll never forgive you. Ever."
"You need to stay alive though. Who else is gonna raise him?"
He went totally still, his face slowly draining of all color.
After a long silence, he whispered: "I get it now."
Didn't say shit after that. Just turned around and left.
His back was bent like the whole world was crushing him.
Later, Harrison Corp went completely bankrupt—wiped off the map.
Henry and Liam vanished without a trace—just disappeared.
Only that crazy old lady was left, camping outside the foreclosed mansion daily, babbling to herself:
"My precious boy, my precious grandson, hee hee!"
Even the garbage collectors ignored her.
Six months later, I was standing by the ocean as waves rolled in—didn't back away this time.
Kevin suddenly handed me a paper airplane while Charles laughed and nudged me:
"Come on, just like when we were kids."
I took it and threw it as hard as I could.
The plane sailed over the water, flying toward the horizon.
Standing in that golden sunlight, the three of us stood laughing together—all that darkness finally gone.
