Natasha's pov:
I smile at my phone and leave it to charge. Break started in around 15 minutes and it would take 15 minutes for him to come here because there isn't peak-hour traffic. I make my way downstairs and snuggle into the couch with my soft fluffy blanket. I scroll on social media until I hear the doorbell ring.
That could only be one person, Flynn!
I rush towards the door, almost tripping in the process, and unlock the door as quick as I can. I spot Flynn's 6ft figure and squeal as I jump into his arms. He spins me around like I'm in a fairy tale and plops me down shortly after. I smile as I look at him. I pout and say "I missed you."
"I know love. How are you feeling?" He asks as I drag him towards the couch.
"I've been better." I reply honestly. "Sorry for the short notice." I add with a tinge of guilt for making him come all the way over here. We lay down on the couch and I bring the fluffy blanket to drape over us.
"You don't need to be sorry Princess. I would fly to the moon and back if it meant that you would be happy." Flynn assures.
I smile at his heartfelt words. "You're such a sweetie-pie." I shove his shoulder playfully. He laughs along with me. "This morning was just a little bit too chaotic." I admit.
Flynn rubs my back. "Want to do something fun to take your mind off of it?" He asks in a suspicious voice. "What did you have in mind?" I ask with a grin making its way up my face. "Wanna binge watch Brooklynn 99?" He asks with a smirk and a head tilt.
"You know me too well." I chuckle with him.
"That's why I'm your favourite." He sassily responds. "Your sass levels are off the chart young man." I playfully joke. "Hey! I'm the older one! If anything, I should be the one calling you that, young lady." He defensively jokes around. I slap his arm which causes him to laugh even more.
God this man and his humour.
I get the remote and switch on Netflix. I click into my account and click season two. My favourite. I snuggle closer towards Flynn and he drapes his arm around me. Not long, AKA after 12 episodes Flynn starts to snore like a dad whilst I drift off into a sleep.
Wow I was really getting my naps in today.
times passes
My eyes open after hearing a loud throat clearing. I spot a mad Xavier standing in front of us. I yawn and realise that I can't move because Flynn's heavy biceps are wrapped around me. He was hugging me like a teddy bear. Xavier's mouth clearing only gets louder. That means that Xander is home from school.
"What do you want?" I ask with a tired voice.
Xavier nods his head in Flynn's direction. "What?" I mouth out.
"Why is he here?" Xavier asks still maintaining the same jealous tone.
"I invited him here. Now can you go? I want to sleep." I tell him to leave.
"Why can't you sleep in your own room?"
"Why do I have to? I'm perfectly comfortable right now anyways." I rebuttal back matching his attitude.
"Because you're with-" He pauses. "You know what, whatever. Get some rest." He scoffs and walks off.
Jeez, what's his problem? I lay back down and let the warm vanilla candle scent put me back to sleep.
times passes
I wake up again to someone clearing their throat loudly again. God, do the people in this house not know how to properly wake someone up? I open my eyes to find a different brother standing in front of me this time, the one and only Xander. "You're awake." He states the obvious.
"You woke me up." I groan in frustration.
"Adrien told me to tell you that dinner is ready." He mentions and walks off. I yawn and stretch. Flynn is still sleeping like a baby after all this time. I shake him awake and he murmurs "5 more minutes." I laugh a little at his weak state. "Get up it's dinner time silly."
He reluctantly groans and gets up off the couch. I suddenly realise I told Vincent that Flynn would be gone before dinner, and he's still here. "You need to leave." I unwillingly tell him. "What whyy?" He whines.
"I promised Vincent that you would leave by dinner." I start and hold his hands. "And you know that I don't break promises." I finish staring into his amber eyes.
He nods his head reluctantly and I drag him towards the front door. Unfortunately we had to pass the dining room in order to get to the front door. All my biological brothers are already sat down. I scurry down the hallway and say my goodbyes to Flynn. Since there's no school tomorrow, I told him that we could hangout together.
That is, if Vincent lets me.
I shut the front door close and make my way towards the dining room. Everyone's eyes are on me whilst I take my seat. "Sorry I'm late." I apologise to Vincent. "Where's Flynn?" Xavier asks with a suspicious motive behind his eyes. "Oh he just left a minute ago." I mention with a little smile.
I wished he stayed but I don't break my promises.
The maids Helena and Lina come out with three big wooden boards with pizza on them. Delicious! After the day I had, I think it's well deserved. The maids set our plates in front of us and exit the room swiftly. I reach in to take a margarita slice and a pepperoni one too.
Bonne Appetite!
I bite in and all the flavours rush through my mouth. After I chow down the first slice I take a glance towards Vincent whose eyes are fixated on my plate. I must've given him quite the scare earlier with my scene. I place my hand over his and softly mouth out "It's okay."
He gives me a thoughtful smile in return.
I end up finishing my two slices and my stomach grumbles in satisfaction. I am full to the brim. I thank my brothers for the meal and make my way upstairs. I need a shower urgently because of all that sitting down and sleeping from earlier, I stank. I turn on the cold water and it seeps through my skin.
So calm and cold.
I step out the shower and put on my Victoria Secret satin pyjama set. I felt like THAT girl. I bring two pink and white fluffy blankets and a pillow towards my empty balcony. Peace at last. I lay the first soft blanket on the hard wooden floor and place the satin pillow against the glass. I lean against the pillow, drape the second blanket over me, and glare up.
The night sky.
The previous British mafia Don had taught me everything he knew. My academics, my weaponry skills and my broad knowledge of being street smart. He was like the father that I never had. He tutored me on school nights, and on weekends we went to the shooting range.
He always repeatedly told me "Look at the sky when you're feeling down, even if I'm not around."
On the days that we couldn't spend time together, I always looked up to find the stars sparkling in the night sky. They gleamed and glistened in ways that I didn't think were possible. Some shined brightly, whilst others seemed bleak. He said that one day, I would be the brightest star that the world has ever seen.
High expectations.
His motivational words only provided me with more motivation to keep going. To keep getting stronger, faster, better. He used to recite a poem, a poem about the starry sky:
When you look up at the sky at night
Even though it may be dark you see sparkly lights,
During the day the sky is a pretty light blue
Then at night you see something totally new,
The sparkling lights are planets or stars
They seem so close but, yet so far,
It is magic in the sky at night and that I love
I just admire all the stars twinkling above,
You wonder how this all came to be
Every little sparkle is just suspended and free,
I hope the night will always have a mystery
Because it is miracles like you that make history.
His words still hold an effect on me. I need to fulfil his legacy, and nothing is going to stop me. I wish he was still here to guide me. I look at the stars, hoping that one day someone will continue my legacy too. I hope that they will possess the same passion that I have.
Because being in the mafia isn't easy, they'll need it.
I stare off into the shimmering night sky when I hear a knock on my bedroom door. "Come in!" I shout. Hopefully they heard me, I was on the balcony after all. I hear the door creak open. I don't bother to turn around, if they want my attention they can get it themselves.
"Why are you outside?" I hear a familiar voice.
"I'm stargazing, Xavier." I reply whilst looking up in the big black ink. He walks towards me.
"What's so cool about the sky?" He asks whilst staring at me only.
"Look up and maybe you'll see." I sarcastically point out the obvious. He looks up and I can see the reflection in his eyes. His mouth agape. I stop watching him and direct my gaze back up to the stars. "Pretty, isn't it?" I say outloud.
"Fascinating." He examines the sky. His eyes get lost in the stars. Not long after, he lays down with me. I lean my head on his shoulder and share the blanket with him. He wraps him bulky arm around my side, bring me closer towards him. "I'm sorry." He suddenly mutters.
"For what?" I ask confused with his words.
He starts "For earlier, with Flynn." He looks down towards me. "I shouldn't have been so annoyed when he was spending time you." He admits. "I guess you could say I was just jealous."
"Jealous? Of Flynn?" I ask curiously.
"Not of Flynn, but of the relationship you have with him." He says. I urge him to continue. "You seem so comfortable with him. You and him have more of a brotherly relationship than you and me." He states.
I pause for a moment as I digest his words.
"I know, but that's because I've practically grown up with him. But I'm back here now and I'm trying to get the best of both worlds." I answer and gaze up at the sky. "Look, Xavier, I know that we haven't had that much time to bond, but we're making progress, right?"
"We are." He agrees with a little smile. "I just wish that you came home sooner Tash. Everyone does." He clarifies my biological brother's feelings.
"Everyone?" I scoff at his remark. He nods his head. "Even Xander?" I ask in denial. There's no way that he actually thinks that.
"Believe it or not but Xander was actually the WORST affected by your departure." He replies. There's something in his tone that makes me sense that he's telling the truth.
"No, fucking, way." I deny his claims in pure disbelief.
"It's true, you can ask anyone. He stayed locked in his room for two months. After you left he was cold, distant, arrogant. All of us didn't know how to fix it. Vincent even tried therapy for him, but it only got worse." He confessed. He looks, back down to his lap. "He really loves you Tash, believe me. He just has a hard way of showing it." He justifies and rubs my back in reassurance.
"By hitting me?" I ask with an arched brow.
"I can't justify his actions, but I can with his feelings. I don't know if you remember or not, but you two were practically inseparable. He was more your twin than mine." Xavier chuckles at the memory. "You two would do everything together, eat, play, sleep. It was an ongoing cycle of endless love between the two of you."
"If he so-call 'loves me' then why is he acting like this?" I debate back.
"I think that it's his way to let all his bottled up feelings that have accumulated over the years out." He starts. "Xander just wants closure. Now that you're back, all his years of grief has come to an end." He pauses. "It's ironic. When Adrien announced your arrival, he was livid. The opposite of what Adrien expected, of what we all expected." He admits.
"Your explanation doesn't justify his actions though." I make clear.
"I know. I just want you to know that he does, in fact, love you. We all do." He brings me closer to him. I soak in his affection.
"I love you all too." I whisper towards the sky and rest my head on his shoulder. I bask in the moonlight. The stars start to blur and I start to feel tired. I feel my eyes shutting tight as I cuddle into Xavier's side. His warmth soothes me to sleep.
