Xander's pov:
They're pretty slow runners, we can catch up in no time.
Xavier and I push through the double doors and hear footsteps to our left. Down the hall I spot Goldilocks and jog after him, still maintaining a safe distance. Flynn Rider and Goldilocks both disappear out of the corridor and that's when I spot them chasing Nat through the school's back entrance.
I would usually go there to smoke but now I'm here to watch.
Xavier and I catch up but instead of going outside, we eavesdrop from behind the wall. I know that this is wrong but I need to know why my sister is hysterical, and whoever caused this will pay. Once I overhear Nat's cries, I feel horrible. Hearing a loved one being vulnerable, hurts like shit.
"Love, what happened? You're safe here." Seb immediately assures her and brings her into a hug.
She cries into his shirt as Flynn rubs her back. "Take your time Princess, shh shh you're alright." Flynn calms her down. "It was- It was him." She stutters mid sentence. Seb and Flynn both look at each other. Seb shakes his head negatively and places a kiss on her forehead. What could she be talking about?
"He's out of jail." She sniffles and crouches down, sitting on the steps crawled up into a ball.
"Awh baby." Flynn sadly sighs and wraps his arm around her as she bawls her eyes out. "He said that he's going to be seeing me soon." She breaks down and leans into Seb's side. Who is she talking about. Who is this he? Is he an ex? "He knows that I'm in Brazil, he's coming." She lets the water loose and Flynn wipes her tears.
"No he wont, alright. We'll protect you. You're safe with us." Seb side hugs her.
"I'm scared guys. I'm really scared and I don't know what he's going to do." She admits through coughs. "He's not going to do anything because we're here to prevent it." Flynn assures her. "He's not going to touch you, he won't even make it to Brazil. Flynn and I will make sure of that." Seb rubs her back.
"Do you have a cigarette?" She asks through her groggy voice.
"Nat, no. You're not starting again. You quit in December." Flynn reminds her. "I miss December. It was fun back then." She reminisces. "We can go back soon Princess. I'll ask your eldest brother for permission, and I'll book the flights." Seb offers to try cheer her up.
"I love yous." Nat blurts.
"We love you too." Goldilocks and Flynn Rider both say in sync. "Let's head back in, lunch ends in a few minutes." Seb stands back up. Oh shit, that means we gotta go. Both Xavier and I slip away past a corner. We watch both Nat, and her friends walk back into the cafeteria as we trail behind them.
Nico's pov:
I pull up to the Morales Mansion. It's official, the nerves are setting in. The gates open and I drive up to the front door. I've never been this nervous collecting a girl before. I take a deep breath before exiting my car and walk up to the front door. Being 10 minutes early was part of the plan because I know that her brothers would want to have a talk with me.
And I'm not letting that get in the way of our special evening.
I ring the doorbell and wipe the sweat from my hands onto my grey jeans. I hear the door unlocking and Chase Morales appears in front of me. "Right on time." He checks his watch, impressed by my time management. "Let's get this over with." I sigh and step in. He guides me through a series of corridors before my eyes are met with a staircase.
"The basement, really?" I complain as he brings me down to their meeting room.
As I enter the jade coloured room, all six of the Morales brothers are sitting down waiting for my arrival. "Take a seat Harper." Vincent gestures towards the empty seat across from them. I cautiously sit down, eyeing all her brothers. Xander stares at me with no shame, close to sending daggers down my throat.
"To what do I owe the pleasure?" I begin with my over confident tone.
"I'm going to cut straight to the chase. Why did you kiss my sister?" Vincent's voice booms throughout the room. I gotta hand it to him, that being the first question means that I'm gonna be in here for a while. "I like her." I clasped my hands together, anticipating their reaction.
Vincent closes his eyes and shakes his head.
"That isn't the correct answer Harper." He warns, saying my surname with upmost disgust. "It doesn't matter whether it's the correct answer or not. It's the truth, and nothing is going to change that." I sit up straight, answering honestly. "Vincent, can I punch him already?" Xander impatiently asks, his leg bobbing up and down under the table.
"Shouldn't you be on your double date?" I inquire, triggering him in the process.
"Shut the fuck up Harper." Xavier bites back. I put my hands up in the air. "Pipe down pip squeak." I smirk at his annoyance. "This isn't some game that you can play. This is our sister." Leo reminds me. "That's great and all, but I would appreciate it if you'd just get on with the over protective speech already." I hurry them up.
"I can't be late for my date." I point towards my watch.
"You come back before it gets dark, no kissing, no physical touch. None of that." Adrien folds his arms. "You're joking right?" I chuckle at his hilarious use of comedy. "Do you see me laughing?" Adrien arches a brow. "That's great, hopefully whilst we're gone you could find a sense of humour." I sarcastically comment.
"You won't be leaving this room anytime soon with that behaviour." Vincent advises me.
"Whatever." I mumble and slouch into my chair. "Is that all? I don't want to miss the surprise. I'm kinda on a time crunch." I point to my handy watch yet again. "You may go but on one condition." Vincent declares. "Anything." I plead, waiting for this hellhole to be over with already.
"Wherever you're taking her, make sure it's secluded. I'm sure Charles has informed you of the situation with the British mafia so I'm trusting you to keep her safe."
I take a guilty gulp and nod my head, unable to physically force myself to speak the truth. "If you come back a minute later Harper.." Xander warns. "I know, I know. Off with my head." I quote the queen of hearts as Adrien escorts me to the stairs. "Sunshine! He's here." Adrien calls out.
Nat comes down the stairs and I can't take my eyes off of her, she holds a box in her hand too.
As she steps down, I notice that she's wearing a white summer dress, gold hoop earrings, nice shoes and the gold locket that I'd gifted her earlier. "Breathtaking." I mutter under my breath. She smiles once she sees me which reveals her adorable dimples, making me fold in the process.
Everything she does makes me fold.
We interlock our fingers and begin to head towards the door when I hear Adrien grunt. "No physical touch." He repeats in a stern voice. We immediately detach and walk out the door. Nat turns to shut the door closed and once I hear the latch click I let out a sigh. I open her car door and watch her petite body slip in, holding onto the black box.
I wonder what's in it.
I get in and start the car. I drive out of her house and onto the main road. "So where to?" Her angelic voice asks me. "You'll see in a few." I leave her with a surprise. My car now smells of her scent. The scent that I've grown accustomed to over the past two weeks. She's been sneaking around with me and I've loved every second of it.
She came over to my house a few times after school and all we did was Netflix and chill.
That's why I like Nat so much. I don't need to be intimate with her in order to have fun. Even just having a heart to heart conversation with her can easily brighten my day. She brightens my day. "You're wearing the necklace." I state, happy that she's wearing it loud and proud.
"I don't have any intentions to take it off." She fiddles with it.
My heart increases in speed after hearing her say that. "Speaking of your outfit, please explain to me how on earth are you dressing like Brazil." I point out, hoping that she waffles so I can listen to her yap. "When you asked me earlier today to wear something about Brazil, I was utterly gobsmacked. Then I did some thinking and came up with a simplistic cute fit."
"Please elaborate Ms.Perfect." I ask her, hearing her voice is like a blessing to my ears.
"You asked me to dress like Brazil, and I took that literally. The blue is my eyes, the green is yours, the yellow is my gold necklace and the white is my sundress." She explains to me in a way that I've never thought of. "So you're saying that I'm part of your outfit?" I smirk at her.
"You're more of an accessory, Mr.Mysterious." She rubs her hand over mine.
"We're here." I announce and unbuckle my seatbelt. Nat reaches for the handle but I stop her in her tracks, I hop out of the car and rush to her side to open her door for her. "You truly are quite the gentleman." She compliments as I help her up. "I can be anything you want me to be." I wink at her and she blushes.
God, I love the effect I have on her.
She takes a moment to look around whilst still clinging onto that box. "You brought me to a beach?" She arches a brow. "Correction, I rented out this beach for just the two of us." I mention and the way she reacts to my statement makes my heart warm. "You did WHAT?" Her jaw lays open. "Just wait and see." I lead her on and we interlock hands as we run across the sand.
We turn the corner and everything is where it's supposed to be, just as I've planned.
"YOU PLANNED A PICNIC?" She gasps at the sight. There's a checkered picnic blanket laying on the sand with a wooden basket on top. As we near closer, Nat's face brightens with every step. There's fairy lights scattered across the rim of the blanket, contrasting the gorgeous sunset in the horizon.
Not to mention what's in the basket.
There's a charcuterie board laid out with all Nat's favourite snacks inside. She carefully places her box beside the basket and peers into it. "Ahhh!" She squeals as she reaches into the basket and pulls out a bar of Cadbury chocolate. "You have no idea of how much I missed good quality chocolate." She holds it close to her heart.
"How did you know I loved it?"
"They say a magician should never reveal his secrets but in this case, you can thank Seb and Flynn for lending a hand." I shove my hands in my pocket. Even just watching ever makes my heart happy. We both sit down on the blanket, facing the sunset. I reach for the charcuterie board whilst she excitedly enjoys her British chocolate bar.
"You're missing out, English chocolate is ten times better than American chocolate." Nat gulps down a square.
"Do you really think that? I think all this chocolate is getting to your head." I pretend to reach for her bar and she pulls away. "Hey! Don't go after my chocolate just because yours is bad." She plays along. The truth was that I never wanted a piece of chocolate to begin with, but it makes me happy that she's eating.
She barely eats in school so anything makes me pleased.
There's a little melted spot of chocolate beside her lip. I take my thumb and wipe the corner of her mouth. Every fibre in my body is holding me back from kissing her, I don't know how long I can do this. She leans her head on my shoulder as I wrap my arm around her.
Her scent of berries and sugar infiltrate my nostrils, she tastes like it too.
"I planned to stay here till midnight you know?" I turn my head to face her. "My brothers gave you the same speech hm?" She said with a knowing tone . "You come back before it gets dark, no kissing, no physical touch. None of that." We both recite at the same time, mocking Adrien in the process. We share a laugh at the end, giggling together in harmony.
"I almost pissed myself when they told me that, you should've seen their faces." I admit, inhaling the stench of salty sea.
"I wish I was there, they wouldn't let me in. But it didn't matter anyways, they gave me that speech as soon as I arrived home." She shrugs her shoulders. "They mean good though, sometimes they just need to back away." She adds. "How so?" I inquire, hoping that she'll go on one of her rants.
My favourite thing to hear, music to my ears.
"It's just that they always overreact when I talk about you. They seem to think that you're a quote on quote 'dangerous boy' and that you're nothing but trouble. They just don't know you yet. They don't know you like I know you. They don't understand how funny, sweet and charming you can be."
"They don't understand the real you." Her finger touches my chest.
I love how she defends me against her family, even when I'm not there. I love how she describes me as a person, but the truth is that she doesn't know the real me, and I hope she never will. I place a kiss on her forehead as we stare into the sky. "Want to take a dip?" Nat asks, looking in my direction. "Anything for you." I help her stand.
"You'll have to catch me first." She giggles and runs off to the ocean.
I sprint after her, darting towards the sunset. She plays around in the sea, the water reaching her shin. Once I reach her, I wrap my arm around her and she squeals in excitement. She kicks water at me and I retaliate by doing the same. The droplets seep through her white dress, revealing a part of her red lace bra.
She looks down as pink coats her face.
I keep my eyes up and only look at her mesmerising face card. I spin her around in the water, our faces getting closer by the second. With the sunset in the background, a beach for only us, and the one person that I want to spend the rest of my life with, it seems that Brazil has taken a toll on my love life.
And I'm not complaining.
I wrap my arm around Nat's tiny torso as we begin to slowly dance together. The sun beams from the side, making her face glow like never before. As I peer into Nat's enchanting aquatic eyes, I overhear her murmur something. "I love you." She mutters. "Come again?" I ask, hoping she said what I think she said.
"I love you." Her voice is like a melody.
I eliminate the gap between Nat and me, placing my lips on hers. She opens her mouth in shock but I slip my tongue in, craving the way she tastes. I deepen the kiss, making her moan in the process. She wraps her delicate arms around my neck and my hands stay placed on her waist.
I feel electricity charge through my veins.
I pull away, wanting to admire her now-bruised lip. "Now that was worth the wait." I smirk at her before going for round two. She rolls her eyes at me before diving in. I melt every time her tongue juts into my mouth. She tastes so good, which only starves me for more. I feel the sun's hot rays beam against the side of us but a gust of wind ruins the moment.
Nat pulls away and shivers at the breeze, stopping the kiss that is depriving me of her taste.
I pick her up and toss her over my shoulder. Hearing her laughter accumulate as we walk back to the blanket is like a reward. I place her down and drape my F1 leather jacket over her shoulders. "You look good in my clothes." I state, admiring how the oversized jacket fits her outfit.
"I have something that might add onto your collection." I tease and reach behind the picnic basket.
I bring out a black box with red ribbon. I hand it to her and she shakes it, trying to guess what's inside. "Open it Ms.Perfect." I instruct her. She removes the ribbon and removes the lid, she gasps at the contents of the box and immediately reaches to give me a peck on the cheek.
I can tell her love language is physical touch and I for sure, am not going to deprive her of that.
As she pulls back she can't help to let out a giggle. "What's so funny Miss Perfect? Do you like it?" I curiously tilt my head. "Like it? I love it!" She replies and brings out that mysterious black box from earlier. "For the record, this is a pure coincidence." She puts her hands up and I arch a brow.
What could she be on about?
I lift up the lid and a smile is plastered all over my face. A black pair of men's Louboutins with a red bottom lies in the box, surrounded by maroon tissue paper. I immediately hug her back. "Great minds think alike." I quote as she takes out the matching pair from her box.
I carefully toss the shoes aside and bring her closer towards me as the sun begins to set. The moon begins to rise which leads me to say my signature secret phrase. "The moon is beautiful, isn't it?" I whisper into her ear. "It is, but why do you keep saying that?" She doesn't understand the hidden meaning yet.
"It means I love you." I smirk at her astonished facade.
"So you've secretly been telling me that you love me for weeks now?" She arches a brow. "The best surprises are kept hidden." I playfully wink at her but she takes me by surprise by softly kissing my lips. I love it when she kisses me, her wanting me means more than she thinks.
It makes me feel, seen, heard, loved.
I know that I shouldn't be falling for her, but I can't help it. The guilt eats me up every time I think about it. I flip her over, my arms surround her head as she leans against the blanket. I dive into her lips, deepening the kiss as she melts into my mouth. I hover over her and she places two hands on my cheeks, bringing me in closer. I smile at her actions as she begins to get more comfortable.
This was going to be a good night, and with only a few more minutes of salvageable daylight, I was going to make the most out of it.
