Auren had barely settled down with Orielle when some guys started walking toward me with these nasty grins.
I grabbed my nightgown and pressed myself back into the corner, but what was I gonna do against like five dudes?
*Riiiiip...*
My flimsy nightgown split right down the middle. The freezing air hit every inch of my skin at once.
They yanked off what was left of my clothes, laughing the whole time. When they walked out, they were grinning at Auren like idiots.
"Damn, men, you've been eating good! Your girl's got a killer body!"
"Thanks for letting us help out, man!"
I curled up in just my bra and panties. My skin was sticking to the frozen floor—every time I tried to move, it tore off chunks of flesh.
The pain was unreal. Blood was streaming from the torn skin, bright red against the white floor of the freezer.
Auren definitely saw it. He put Orielle down and walked over, staring at the blood that was dripping toward his shoes. He looked like he was about to say something when Orielle came running up.
She pressed her hand against the glass where the blood was and said shakily, "Nerissa, just apologize. All his friends are watching—he can't be embarrassed now..."
I glared at her.
"Apologize what? You looked pretty damn happy when I turned that AC on. Hell, you were texting your friends about—"
When Auren heard that, he shot Orielle this look, like he was starting to wonder.
But before I could finish, Orielle smacked herself across the face and dropped to her knees.
She grabbed Auren's hand, shaking.
"Auren! I can't stand seeing her like this. If she won't apologize, I'll just kneel out here until she does!"
The second Orielle hit her knees, all the doubt disappeared from Auren's face.
He pulled her up fast, then looked at me like I was trash.
"Nerissa, you're so fucking spoiled. Orielle's been putting up with your attitude for years. You're obviously wrong here, and she's willing to suffer just to stop my embarrass. You don't deserve her!"
"Time to teach you some manners! You're not getting out until you apologize!"
He waved at his crews.
"Get some ice blocks and surround her with them! Pour water on everything—let her freeze to that ice!"
Right after he said it, one of the girls pulled on his sleeve.
"Auren, ice and water together... that's like cement. It'll stick to her skin. If she moves, it'll rip the flesh right off. She's about to pop—this could seriously hurt her..."
Auren's hand stopped mid-wave.
He was thinking about it when Orielle made this soft little sound behind him.
"Auren, the ICU really wasn't that bad..."
That flipped a switch. His face went stone cold.
He dropped his hand and said flat-out, "Do exactly what I told you. Now!"
