Nathan's POV.
It's Friday today, this whole week I've been missing Leo, my first son that I just found out about. I've been missing Alina as well, after that day I found her, there was hope and she was the missing piece that was missing to complete my broken heart. I always thought that I'd get over her but she was really the cure to mend my broken heart, all along I thought that I had lost her forever. That I had lost my only chance of happiness, but she's back, it feels so surreal to me. What I don't understand is why Sarah did this? It made me furious, still I hadn't confronted her about this, it's been a week. How could my best friend of so many years do this to me?
Alina and Leo are coming today, they should be arriving soon. They were going to be staying at my house, well hopefully soon we'll be able to call it ours. It's been five years that Alina has been back, she is meeting me here at work so I can give Leo a surprise. It recently just came in today and its my first present for him, I hope he likes it, I don't know what to get a kid. My excitement was out of hands, to the point where we couldn't go home to open it. It had to be now.
Just thinking of us reunited makes me so excited, actually that would be an understatement, I am ecstatic! After, I got my construction workers to renovate one of my rooms for Leo, and also added a bunch of additional items for kids. In the backyard there's a pool and now a new water slide, waterfall, cool lights and many other things. There is a trampoline, basketball court in the estate and there is still a big field.
God. Who knew that being a father could stress you out? Just thinking about it, would I be horrible? I've always wanted to be a dad, but saying it and being one is completely different. I'm not doubting myself I'm just terrified as fuck. It went from my life being boring, from waking up early in the morning, to going to work and coming home late. A routine that I never thought would end, to me having an actual family to prioritize and look forward to. Soon I would be coming home to my family, not my empty house.
I wish I was there with Alina when she was pregnant, I regret it so much, if I could go back I'd do it in a heartbeat. Never in my life would I think that god would give me one blessing which was bringing Alina back, but two blessings and one of them being my amazing son. I was so fucking grateful.
No matter how many mistakes that would be made, god always made sure to bring Alina back to me, although this is not to take for granted. In my perspective, it is a chance to fix what was wrong. If it were to take ten years, so be it. Alina was worth fighting for, one of the good ones you'd never let go of, the one that got away. My stupidity got in the way between us and it took us five fucking years to find each other again. This time, now that we've spend some time apart, hopefully we'll be able to overcome any obstacles.
A knock pulls me out of my thoughts, well my daydreaming state where I'd just picture me, Alina and Leo together as a family. It's been happening much more then I thought, all I could think about was seeing them again and I couldn't concentrate. My employees were hard workers, always been scared of me and treated me with respect. Ever since Alina left the mood in the atmosphere died, she would always come in and bring everyone donuts or some snacks. My work has been my only priority these past years, the biggest business in the country and soon globally after this new technology launches. "Come in," I say loud enough so the other person on the other side of the door can hear me.
"Mr. Peterson, I've got the documents from Mr. Amari for you to look at. It's about the expansion of your technology and eco friendly system, to partner with him for the buildings in Dubai." My personal assistant Catherine tells me, while shutting my door.
This type of information is only for the ears of my closest employee's, she is one of my well trusted employee's that's been with me for ten years. She was even here when Alina and I were still married, she also came to our wedding, always loved Alina until I made sure no one mentioned her name during that one tough year.
"Thanks Catherine, I'll look over it tonight and sign it tomorrow," I say smiling.
"Hey, Mr. Peterson smiling? What?" She says jokingly, "may I ask why you're so happy?" She smiles.
"Actually, Alina is coming by with my son Leo..."
"Your son? What? How come I am only learning about this now? I thought you guys were divorced."
"Well, it's kind of new news to me since last weekend. When going to look for a cottage location, I ran into her at an ice cream store... We found out that Sarah kind of lies."
"Oh, I see... as your friend I support you fully with your decision but man don't kick her out like the dick you were five years ago." I chuckle at her foul language but it's true.
"I don't plan on it, I plan for us to be together from now on. You're so lucky that you are one of my best friends that keeps me grounded, if not I would of fired you a long time ago for this foul language towards me. Out of everyone, I only let my close friends and Alina talk to me like this."
"Speaking of Alina, you better let me visit to meet that son of yours and to catch up with her. I can't believe it took you a year to figure out what a major asshole you were."
"Okay, okay I got it. I'll invite you and Vincent over soon. Just let things play out a little bit. It might be a little overwhelming for her to come back like nothing ever happened, I don't want her to freak out or anything."
"You better not treat her like that again." She says then walks out, Catherine was always a sister to me, I feel really bad because her and Vincent have been trying for a baby for at least one year and she hasn't conceived yet. She was at the office crying a month ago, and even Vincent texted me saying she was upset. So I booked off a few hours to chat with her and to cheer her up.
Now she seems like she was going back to her regular self, and it felt nice. Everything was playing out great these past few days, let me tell you that Luc created his own business and wanted to work with me. I keep refusing him, he lied to me about Alina, he was such a close friend. Since he wasn't raised and taught all methods, his products weren't up to standards, basically he just wanted to utilize my structure knowledge to enhance his. Basically make a carbon copy of mine.
Of course he will never get a hand on it, I worked so hard to create a file with all the algorithms and our approach to my technology. At all times, I know where my file is, keeping away from people who are dying to find it and use it as their own.
Knock knock knock. They're already here? Alina said that they would be here in ten minutes not this quickly. "Come in," I say turning around to make sure the present isn't within sight. I wanted to give Leo it after I get some of his heartwarming hugs and kisses. The door opens and closes, "hey Leo, give me one second okay?" I say and turned around to be face with Sarah.
"Hello Nathan," she says smiling with a pie dish in her hands.
"What are you doing here Sarah?" I ask confused, she didn't say that she was coming by and I've been avoiding her because of what she did.
"I was just around and wanted to bring you some of my apple pie," she tells me coming to me then placing the pie on my desk. I look at her and see she's close to me, her phone dings making her pull it out and a blank face appears when she looks at that notification. "Nathan I just, I've been in love with you ever since we met..." slowly removing her shirt and unzipping her skirt.
"Look, Sarah. I've told you repeatedly that I love Alina." I say taking her shirt and skirt from off the ground and handing it to her.
"Alina, Alina, Alina... Why does everyone like that bitch." She says grabbing my arm and quickly straddling me, before I can even get her off of me the door opens.
"Daddy's office is right here baby-" Alina's voice stops and we both look to the side. Sarah has a huge smirk on her face while Alina quickly covers Leo's eyes and her face looks pained. Alina was at a complete list of words, well what do you say when you see your ex-husband with your ex-best friend half naked straddling him when he said he wants to fix things? I don't blame her but she needs the truth. She quickly turns around slamming the door after her.
"God damn it Sarah." I say pushing her off of me and dashing out the door.
"You don't need her!"
