Shattered - Chapter 12: Chapter 12

Alina's POV.
Oh my god, I am such an idiot for thinking he actually wanted me back. He just wanted me to fucking believe that so he could take Leo away from me and make it easier. This whole week I've been looking forward to seeing him, I thought this could actually work, I gave him the benefit of the doubt. How stupid am I for even thinking that he still loved me? That he still liked me, that I was still even attractive to him or my body was enough? He saw my scar, I let my wall down so quickly. Wasn't he angry with her too? Didn't he say that she was the one who took five years from us? Yet, he still runs back to her when I am not sufficient enough for him.
Quickly grabbing Leo's hands I walk towards the elevator of the building which is unfortunately at the end of the hall. The sound of my heels were echoing through the hall as I walked quickly. It was nice seeing Catherine after so long, but now it will be a couple more years, I'm packing up and leaving. I need to move farther away from here. Leo did not deserve a lying father. He probably wanted his son just to be the heir of his empire for god sake, how could I be so conceited with my happiness.
"Alina! Wait, Alina don't go! Let me explain." Nathan yells from the end of the hall and everyone on that floor seems so surprised to hear my name. They all stare at me, with curiosity filling there mind as to why I am back and all the stuff that is going on. Clicking the button repeatedly on the wall trying to speed it up, finally the doors open and I close it. Nathan was only one second late and he looked like he was worried. Probably because Leo will be leaving with me, tears streamed down my face, man I got ready and dressed for him today. Looking nice just to make me appealing. If I still had the code to his private elevator I could've even made it faster.
"Mommy? I thought we were going to see daddy." Leo says, but he is too young to understand any of this. How do I respond to him? "Mommy, why are you crying? Are you sad mommy?"
"No I'm okay baby,"I say wiping my tears with the back of my hands to prevent Leo from seeing anymore then he has.
My phone starts to ring and the name that pops up pains me, too bad he's not going to get the chance to hurt me again. I've done this before and I could do it again. After declining the call, my phone keeps ringing.
"Mommy, are you going to answer your phone?"
"I will, somebody won't stop calling me." Why does his building have have to have so many floors? "Nathan stop calling me."
"Let me explain Alina, please don't leave me." He pleads out of breath.
"Look how that turned out for me when I let you explain, we made up, we talked, I told you I couldn't take it if you broke my heart again. I'm tired Nathan, history is only repeating itself. This is the universe telling us that we shouldn't be together."
"Fuck that Alina, come on, if not you'll regret it. Just listen to me, what happened to listening and trust? Trust me."
"I-I-I just don't know, I'm leaving and you don't need to see me or Leo ever again. If Sarah makes you you happy so be it. This is goodbye again and this time it's for good, I'll be gone and you will not take my son away from me with your mind games."
"Fine then. You can wait there and think," he says and all of the sudden the elevator stops.
"Mommy what happened?"
"I don't know baby just wait," I speak back into my phone after, "Nathan did you really just stop the elevator?"
"So what if I did?"
"You've got to be kidding me."
"Listen to me. Can't you understand that I actually love you? If it was Sarah I wouldn't stop the elevator for Christ sake, she would be able to leave within seconds. Did you see me naked when she was on me? She's not even in the building anymore, I kicked her out."
"This is ridiculous Nathan, turn the elevator back on," I say while pressing all the buttons.
"Alina answer my question."
He was right, man I hate admitting that sometimes I get things wrong, "No..."
"So why are you doubting me? If I wanted to take Leo I would've of fought for custody and won within a day. I confessed my love to you again, we made love, I didn't just fuck you. Don't let doubt ruin us again, I'll even show you the security footage."
"Okay... but I just"
"No buts, you just agreed, now sit tight the elevator is turning on again. I'll be waiting for you when the door opens, nowhere for you to run."
The elevator starts moving, quickly fixing up my face so it didn't seem like I was crying, the elevator finally came to the first level. When the door opened, Nathan was standing right in front of me and everyone was minding their own business and pretending like we weren't even there. "Daddy!" Leo yells and runs up to him, Nathan quickly picks him up squeezing him for a hug and planting kisses on his cheeks.
Everyone's eyes snaps up right when they show their affection for each other. They seem to be surprised about how Nathan is acting, everything changed, the things in buildings, well some of it disappeared. There aren't many flowers, no plants, paintings or pictures.
I walk up to them slowly just adjusting to this, "I trust you, don't let me down." That was the only thing that left my mouth.
"Anything for you baby," he gives me a quick peck on my lips. Not going to lie, it's one thing to say that you'll be angry at someone but another when you're actually trying to apply it. Him and Leo together smiling just prevented all of that from happening, they bot were so good with each other. "How about we head to my place now? I'll take the rest of my documents home."
"Sounds good to me," before I could turn around to head to my car he decides to take my hand and bring me with him.
Nathan puts Leo down pointing to the direction to where the private elevator was, "how about you push the button bud?" He suggests and Leo rushes to it quickly. All Nathan has to do is punch in the code and the doors open, him and the high tech modern company exceeded all expectations of normal technology. We step in letting the doors close behind us, my son was amazed at all the cool technology and I knew that if he got a tour that he would be so excited about everything his dad has in this building. Yes it's a technology company, but when Matt and him got together they would make things that ranged from fast remote controlled cars, helicopter toys that functioned to electric bikes and scooters.
The elevator dings telling us that we've arrived at our floor, filling in the silence between us two. Walking out to see Catherine at the reception desk again, she was happy to see me like always, "hi Catherine!" I say.
"Hey Alina! Oh it's been so long!" She says coming around the desk to hug me then looks down to Leo.
"Ah! This I must be Leo! I've heard about you little man, your daddy was so excited to see you." Catherine smiles hugging him tightly.
I can't help but giggle, "Leo this is your aunt Catherine."
"Leo do you want some donuts?" Right when that leaves her mouth his eyes go wide and she became his favourite person in this moment.
Looking over to me, I know he's waiting for me to tell him it's okay, "go baby, after that just come in daddy's office." He nods quickly taking Catherine's hand leaving me with Nathan. Leaving him alone for just a little bit makes it very difficult, during school time, it makes it even harder for me.
"Come on, he'll be fine" Nathan tried to reassure my anxious self, he is right though, it doesn't calm all my nerves down but at least it made a big difference on me personally. "I have surprise for him," he takes my hand which is smaller then his to lead me into his office. The place looks the same except for the pictures of us that are gone, my favourite paintings that are now gone and the quotes I used to hang on the walls for Nathan to remind himself are now empty go be replaced with the paint. "Do you think he will like this?"
