"Of course he is going to love it! I've been waiting to get him one for his birthday but now you've got him one I guess I don't have to anymore." I giggle, he got Leo a nice blue bike that is the perfect size for him, my son has been dying for a bike, to be able to bike around the neighbourhood like the other kids he sees with their parents. "I am so happy you didn't spend too much money on a gift, he only needs the gift to have meaning to it." Something that isn't expensive can equally value the same things as expensive.
Nathan huffs like he had a weight on his chest, "good because I was so nervous about this gift that I kind of ordered ten different bikes... I'll call Ben to return them." Why would you buy ten different ones? A bike is a bike, that's actually really funny though. Poor Ben, he's been with Nathan since we started dating. His driver, or anything you need, Ben will be there or get you whatever you want.
"You're so ridiculous, you got ten? If the number doesn't multiply the number of items multiply, what am I going to do with you Mr. Peterson?" I say grabbing my forehead with my hand chuckling at the fact that he had to get ten, just for the perfect bike, at least he cares.
"Well, I know many things you can do with me, you could have sex with me again." He gives me a devilish smirk, he had no filter when it came to us talking about sexual intercourse.
"Nathan! Your son is out there and could've came any minute, you need to watch what you say around him."
"Okay, okay, mama bear. Does that still mean we can?"
"I'll think about it. Best behaviour and you'll have a possibility."
"Got it," right when the conversation is over Leo comes running in, he always has perfect timing.
"Mommy! Aunt Catherine gave me two donuts!"
"Lucky you! Hey Leo, why don't you go to daddy, he has a surprise for you." Leo being spoiled before couldn't compare to him being spoiled now. Every time I tried to minimize the spoiling, but at the same time it back fired because I wanted to give him everything and to have the perfect life that sadly I was never given.
My parents kicked me out, there were multiple disagreements on my career path choice, the people I hung out with, what things that I'd like to do, they were very controlling. When they had meet their limit, it was the end for our relationship, my mental capacity wasn't able to take anymore of their expectations. So many rude comments on anything that I ever did, there was always something wrong for me except for my sister Reina. She was the one and only golden child, a family doctor, following the path of our parents that I didn't want to do. Therefore it made me who I am today and it was good because it made me view life in a totally different way.
Watching Leo receive the gift from Nathan made him smile so big and the joy on his face was unexplainable. He needed a male figure in his life, and Nathan was finally here for that. "Mommy! Look at the bike! Can we bring it home now? I want to bike around." He asked thrilled at the thought of him trying it out.
"Okay then, let's go to daddy's house and you could play." I tell him.
"Just let me grab some stuff and we can go."
Nathan puts all his document into his folder to take home, Leo was so excited to try out his bike that he ran to the elevator and clicked continuously the button without knowing that Nathan needed to type in the pin. "Leo you have to wait for daddy to put in the pin before we can get in."
"What's a pin?"
"The password like a secret code." Nathan says while putting the pin in using the number pad beside the button.
"Can I know the secret code?" He asks as we get in and the doors to the elevator closes.
"You're too young right now, maybe later on. When you come, you'll be with mommy anyways and mommy can just put in the code."
"That's not fair." He crosses his arms and pout.
"When you're old enough bud, later, I promise."
"Okay daddy, you better not forget."
"I'm sure you'll be reminding me."
Walking out the elevator, Nathan pulls me closer to him by the waist, trying to make it clear that I am in a relationship with him. All his employees spared us at least a few discreet glances, the tiny action still brought us so much attention. Will coming back into the social media ruin what me and my son have now? It's always been tiresome especially if you aren't accustomed to living in the faces of everyone, with every person just dying to be informed about what's going one and what stuff they could feed off of. They manipulate most of the times everything that's been said.
I unlock my car, he opens the door for me to take my seat in the passenger's side, "I'll buckle him in." Before Nathan always drove instead of me, he enjoys driving as well as being driven to places by a chauffeur. It was always his lifestyle ever since he was born, since his dad had a company and our lifestyles were totally opposite. I went from working three jobs to pay for tuition and living, to suddenly adjusting to paparazzi. He got the luxury of not worrying about where he'll live in a few months, what other jobs he can get to maintain a source of income, making time to study really hard to get the best grades to graduate and to find employment really hard. Nathan had constantly reminded me before that I am the one person that is keeping him grounded, that I am his rock, if he didn't meet me he would of stayed an inconsiderate person to certain aspects of life.
It's probably because he has never experienced these stuff that happen first hand whereas me, that was my life before him.
He sits in the driver's seat asking me to hold the folder then takes the route towards his house, it's been so long since I've been there, Nathan told me he still lives in the same estate as before. "What's in the folder?"
"Just a contract that I have to read over with new investments in Dubai, new technology programming, well designs as well, and some problem my company is dealing with." He updates me about his work then takes ahold of my hands. His warm hands heats up my cold hands.
"Problem?"
"Yeah, somebody is trying to get ahold of our files electronically and manually. After articles had been written about new technology I'm working on, somebody tried to hack into our systems but our defence walls are so strong and I don't want to take my chances with the only hard copy so it's staying with me. Our technology and plans are typed electronically but this technology is so important that there is only one hard copy."
"Oh, well I hope everything goes well with everything. Anyways, why would anyone want to steal these files?"
"I don't know, it's my newest technology, my company is the biggest and there are many clients interested already. My numbers are growing financially and in other ways so..."
"Is that even possible me to grow financially from where you started?" I arch my brow.
"Haha yes baby." He laughs, " how was the drive down here?"
"It was nice, I showed Leo some beaches as we drove, and he fell asleep so it was pretty quiet the ride. How was your day?"
A big smile grows on his face as he articulate his response, "to be honest I was so excited to see you and the little man in the back this weekend that I couldn't even concentrate on work." He chuckles.
"Daddy! I'm not little man."
"You're little man to me buddy," he smiles and Leo smiles back noticing Nathan in the rear-view mirror.
"Can we bike around when we get to the house?"
"Sure baby, whatever you want." I say.
"First I have to show you your room so you can unpack your things and then we can."
We pull up into the estate after the guards had open the gates to allow our car in, turning around to see Leo, his reaction is priceless as he tries to process everything. It was so much bigger then my house, instead of a lot with a house in that specific area, Nathan had an estate. The house looks like it never even aged or anything ever happened, my favourite flowers still surrounded the yard, Lily's. "wow, mommy... Daddy has a big house."
"Now it's yours to buddy," he smiles.
