Nathan and me were just about to start discussing about how we want to approach this situation to Leo, before we could even begin. Ben walks into the room, "here you are sir." He says looking at Leo who was following behind him in a good mood.
"Hi baby!" I say as he walks up and gives me my morning hug and kiss.
"Hey little man," Nathan says.
"Daddy! Mr. Ben just called me 'sir'," he said laughing.
"You could just call him Leo, no need to be formal with him, he's still a kid," Nathan tells Ben and he nods in acknowledgment.
"Mommy, can I have cereal please?"
"Of course, honey nut Cheerios?"
"Yes please!"
"Nathan, which cabinet are your cereal's in? Do you have that cereal?"
"Yes third cabinet to your right." I go to get Leo's breakfast, I am lucky that Nathan had gone grocery shopping for some food that Leo can eat.
"Leo, there is something me and daddy need to ask you about." I say slowly telling him that it's something important and serious.
"What is it, mommy?"
Nathan looks at me, "well buddy, me and your mom were thinking of... living together again..."
Leo's tears welled up with tears, "without me?" Out of nowhere he questions which was never going to happen.
"No Leo! Never, baby," I say going to sit beside him and hugging him. "It would be you, me and daddy. You would change schools and go to school here instead. How do you feel about this baby? If you don't want to just let me know, be honest with me. Do you want to stay there or leave and come here?" I ask in a calming voice.
"Mommy, I want to come here with daddy." He says without any hesitation which surprises me.
"Are you sure Leo..?" I ask easing things into his mind, "it would mean that you wouldn't see your friends from school anymore..."
"Mommy, they aren't my friends, they are so mean to me." He starts crying but I pull him into my arms and he curls up in fetal position.
"What do you mean I thought you liked having friends like Marco, Julia, and David?"
"They made fun of me because I don't have a dad!" Leo bursts into tears and Nathan starts to frown.
"Hey buddy, I'm here now, I love you and those people don't matter. It doesn't matter who you are or where you're from, you don't need those friends. Friends should like you the way you are," he looks me in my eyes and I know that saying is directed at me too. I'm not say be mean to them but just ignore them, find new friends." Wow, Nathan was good with children.
"Okay daddy."
"We could start looking for schools today if you want?" Nathan asks me.
"Sure, we could go after, breakfast and this little guy."
"There are a few schools around here. How about we get some desserts in the way?"
"We could do that," I smile.
I finish grabbing some things and putting it in my purse, we decided to go to a bakery store to get some treats for Leo. I walked into the store, Nathan and Leo were waiting at a table for me to bring the sweets to them. Waiting at the counter, the bell of the shop rings indicating that a customer came in, "well, well, well. Nice seeing you here." I turn around at the voice.
It was the man from the park was standing right in front of me smiling, "oh, uhm, yeah." I say looking over to Nathan and Leo giggling together and fooling around.
"What are you doing here?" He asks seeming intrigued that we are in the same place, "it must be the universe telling us something." Or just a coincidence.
Actually, I'd like to oblige, the universe brought me and Nathan back together. "Uhm, I'm here with my son and my husband."
He chuckles, "I didn't see a ring on your hand last time." Jack tells me looking over my shoulder at Nathan and Leo. I look at my empty ring finger remembering that there is nothing to save me if I am not wearing one. Luckily the bakery was filled with people enjoying there day with delicious pastries, it made me feel more safe.
"But I'm married," I tell him not really knowing why this man deserved an explanation from me.
"We should get together sometime for coffee, it could be just as friends. What do you say?" He asks trying to persuade me into having coffee with him.
"Not to be rude, but I don't think that's a good idea."
"What do you mean it's not a good idea? It's just two adult friends just hanging out," just the way he said those words made it seem very sketchy and it would be stupid of me to accept his offer.
"I'm sorry but I'm going to have to decline, I hope you have a good day. Sorry again."
I just move away from him as I wait at the counter, he keeps staring at me and it makes me so uncomfortable. What my son had told me last time just ran through my mind, I quickly grab the pastry box and start to head back to the table trying to avoid any further interaction with Jack.
He stops me in my way as I tried to reach my husband and son, "again, my offer is always open," he says stepping a little closer to me till his face is too close to mine. "If you ever want to have a good time, just let me know, here is my phone number." He hands me a small paper with his phone number and I just quickly take it putting it in my pocket.
"Okay, if anything I'll call." I say scrambling on my words to leave.
"I hope you do," he squeezes gently my arm then leaves after grabbing his pastry.
What does this guy want from me? He should know that I am not having sex with him when I am together with Nathan, even if me and Nathan weren't back together I would never give anyone my body unless we've been dating for awhile.
I finally reach my family feeling a little uneasy, Nathan notices, "are you okay? You look pale."
"Yeah I'm fine, the guy from the park was just here..." I tell him looking back to the counter where we were talking and he is nowhere in sight, where did he go? "He was just there a few seconds ago," I say confused.
"I don't know where he went Alina, how about we just get out of here right now?"
"Yes please."
"If this guy keeps bothering you, let me know, I'll have my guys take a look into it. We can't do anything unless he does anything, so far now we will leave it at that." He looks back down to my eyes, "everything is going to be okay," Nathan kisses my cheek, "now let's go check out all those schools."
The rest of the day we spend some time together as a family, me and Nathan decided on one of the private schools which is a good distance from the house, with me and Nathan back together all the camera's will be on us so we are taking precautions over how we raise Leo. We want the best for our son to grow up living a normal life with nothing to worry about.
The school said that we can start him whenever we feel like it, I told Nathan that we need could change him next week. There is not really a need to rush anything, his guys will help me bring my stuff slowly to his place throughout the week. My law firm already has me ready to be swapped, I have them a notice that I will be leaving next week after Friday.
Just thinking about all of this seems a little overwhelming to me, is this the right choice to make? We will officially be back together, there will be no more backing out. I am having second thoughts on all of this now, I was living my worst life before, how can he be forgiven this quickly? Fidgeting with my fingers, all of this is so much for me to process that there is doubt creeping it's way in. Am I asking for something unrealistic or temporary?
If there will be more tears to shed it will truly start having a harsher impact on me mentally, this is where my decisions count the most for the outcome of my son and me. Even if it was that simple to choose, it isn't fair to Leo for me to make all of these decision by myself. His input in all of this was always considered before my choice was ever made.
Sitting here in my old house is making everything seem more realistic to me then before. Yes, everything seemed all fake, Nathan coming back, us being together, and even re-conciliating. "Alina, tomorrow we'll be going to my parents house for dinner," Nathan tells me taking me out of my isolated thinking mindset.
"That's good with me," I say sitting at the dining room table just staring outside pondering about my given options.
"Hi baby!" I say as he walks up and gives me my morning hug and kiss.
"Hey little man," Nathan says.
