Shattered - Chapter 20: Chapter 20

The movers were slowly packing up mine and Leo's stuff into the moving truck, this week pass by so fast that it felt like I was loosing time and soon I'll be suffocated by the company of Nathan. I am so stupid for forgiving him right away, god I hate that this happens all the time where forgiveness would go against me. Shouldn't happiness make you excited? Why was is the feeling of conflicted arising in me?
This whole week has been a lot for me just thinking of the choice I've made, is this the right thing or the wrong thing to do? Why did my life have to turn out this way?
My house is going to still be here, luckily I was able to convince Nathan that I wasn't going to sell it because it contained a lot of good memories. He insisted that the pictures in the frame should be brought to the house- well our house to be put up.
Me and Leo has camera's speculating around us ever since we arrived in front of Nathan's work building, everyone was dying to find out what was going on and what I was doing back after everything that occurred in the past.
"Alina, are you ready to go?" Nathan asks taking me out of my thoughts, he took off work today to help us move. Him and Leo were having fun moving boxes, Leo always wanted to be like the older men. My little tough man...
"Uh, yeah, I guess I am."
"What are you thinking about?" He asks approaching me and placing his hands on both sides of my hips.
"Just thinking of Leo's childhood in this house, there are memories here that I'll miss. Like on the wall near the kitch I would always mark his height every year." I say reminding myself of every time I did that.
"We'll be able to do that, you could do it on any wall when we get to the house, we'll start fresh. Nothing has to change." He says kissing the top of my head.
"But Nathan... everything is changing." It's true, believe it or not, even if we are just moving and resuming our lives. It feels like a lot is changing, we are now going to have to accommodate to his living style. "You need to understand that me and Leo are leaving behind everything here for you."
"I do know that and I am so thankful for it, please come on, just try it out and if not I'll relocate?" Part of me knew that he really wanted this and he would actually relocate if it meant getting to be with me. I couldn't let him give up the empire he built just because of my slight inconvenience. He worked hard, late nights long before and for that I understood and respected him for that. His will to keep fighting through problems was inspiring.
"I don't want you to do that... it's okay, I guess I just have to get used to it. I'll just take it day by day," he smiles.
"I love you." He tells me then brushes his lips softly against mine.
"Okay, lets go now, we're all packed." I say brushing my hands on my pants to straighten myself out.
We walked outside where Leo was on the driveway drawing with his chalk on the driveway with Ben, he drew the characters from monster inc which was so adorable. He was very talented for a child at his age, also intelligent, just thinking about the future when I see him will be so different. It excites me that he will grow up and I'd get to be proud of the successful man that we raised but the thought of him not being young anymore is sad.
"What are you guys up to?" I asked with Nathan's hand around my waist.
"Me and Mr. Ben are drawing mommy! Look at Mike and Sulley," he says pointing the the artwork of his, with a huge smile on his face.
"I love it baby! It's so good," this already gave me an idea of what to get him for a surprise. Since he enjoys drawing and colouring maybe he'd like some crayons or art supplies. "Are you ready to go now?"
"Yup!"
"Thanks Ben, for watching him." I thank him.
"It's my job Mrs. Peterson, it was a pleasure, you've raised a pleasant boy so far." He smiles, I like how he said 'so far', because we both know that he'll most likely be a troublemaker.
"Can you please take us home Ben?" Nathan asks.
Ben leads us to the car leading all three of us to the backseat of the car and closing the door behind us, he quickly puts the chalk and toys away and sits in the driver seat. During the drive Nathan wrapped his arm around me to keep me close to him and Leo came to lie down on our laps.
He was about to doze off into sleep, he had his eyes closed as I played with soft silky hair, "mommy, we are going to live with daddy?"
"Yes baby, we are," I say softly.
"Will Mr. Ben be there with us?"
"Everyday bud," Nathan says.
"Am I going to meet new friends?"
"Yes you will, you'll love it at the school Leo, the kids are nice there."
"I'll be dropping you off at school everyday too," I tell him and he musters a soft smile. Nathan insisted to enroll him into a private school just so they can keep him more private from the world until we thought it was a good time to reveal him. Me and Nathan are going to try our very best to keep him out of the spotlight for as long as we can.
There was no response from him so I'm assuming that he fell asleep, his slow breathing and relaxed body indicated that he was resting. "He'll be fine at school, the kids are really nice and I think that environment will be good for him to make actual good friends."
"I know, it's just sad that he didn't have the greatest experience at his old school." I tell him, "all the kids were very mean and I'm scared. No child should be bullied at this age or let along bullied at all."
"This time we are all together so it wouldn't really matter, they only poked at the wound but now I am back and our family is stronger then ever."
"I guess you're right, it's a new slate for us." I am all for a change, it will be good for us to try something different.
He stares at me, our lips meet as we kiss gently I slowly tease him but he fought to pull me back in. My nerves soon died down as Nathan was constantly reassuring my nervous state of mind, it happened all the time when we were together before. Personally my experiences with stress weren't the greatest, "we have my sister's celebration tomorrow, Ben said he can watch Leo while we go. How does that sound?"
"That's sounds good with me."
"I have to go into the office later, also my parents were wondering if Leo could sleep over with them tonight... only if it's okay with you."
"Of course, it's always okay Nathan, I want Leo to enjoy the childhood I never had. If your grandparents want to visit him or want to have him over, I will never stand in the way of that. In fact it makes me happy that they want to take their time to get to know him." I tell him overjoyed that they are putting effort, after my parents were done they never even tried to reconnect with me.
They probably thought it would be best if we never came into contact with one another, they weren't wrong to think that, with all my pent up anger towards them I might blow up... but then again saying it and doing it are two completely different things. "Great, I'll let my parents know we'll be coming." He takes out his phone to call them.
We arrived at the house where Nathan's men were removing all my stuff and bringing it into my house, the truck seemed half empty already which was crazy. They arrived earlier then that but I didn't expect them to move this quickly before we arrived, Nathan brought Leo in placing him on the couch with the blanket while we helped unpack.
In our room they placed boxes which contained my clothes, picture frames and other things. I was placing my clothes in the closet while Nathan assisted by bringing me boxes, "Hey, Nathan, can you bring me my other box of clothes?"
"Yeah, sure, which one?" He says bringing in a few boxes and opening them. His eyes go wide and stay open at what he is staring at then smirks.
"What are you smiling about now?"
"Your panties." He says chuckling, "I'd like to see you in them."
"Oh my fucking god Nathan, can't we go one day where you aren't gawking over my body or how good the sex is? Now it's my undergarments?"
"Well, not exactly, it's you in the undergarments."
"Same thing!"
He just laughs bringing the boxes to me to put away, I put everything away and pack a bag for Leo for when he goes to Anthony's and Elise's house for the night. Going downstairs I see my little man still sleeping so I go and sit beside him to wake him up. Slowly he flutters his eyes open, "mommy, what are we doing?"
"Well I just finished unpacking, do you want to go to Grandma's and Grandpa's tonight to sleep over?"
"Yes! Yes! Yes!" He shouts with a big smile in a good mood.
"Okay go get ready, we'll go now."
