                    Nathan's POV.
It wasn't a bad sight, it just made me feel upset that she ended up like this when I could've done something to prevent this, we both acted like a normal couple and we couldn't be too hard on ourselves. My mom's words played in my head to keep me from blaming everything was on me, thinking that it could've gone differently and that I caused all of this.
Laying there in the bed was Alina with an intravenous line in her to give her pain medication, on her forehead there was a big bandage probably for the big cut where she was bleeding from, for some reason her body seemed so relax, why is it when we sleep that it is the only time where we really feel at peace? Sleeping seems to happen in a blink of an eye, we can sleep for twelve hours but when we wake up it felt only like five minutes.
I sat beside her holding her cold hand where the IV was connected to with tape on it to keep it in place, I brought her hand to my cheek letting myself to be acquainted with the familiar feeling of security with her. Her natural scent filled my nostrils, after all she went through that sweet smell of her's was still existent. Hopefully she would be awake soon so Leo could come in to see her, I'm sure he will put her in a good mood after all of this and he probably missed both of us after staying the night at my parents.
The door of the room opened as the doctor walked in, "hello, you must be Mr. Peterson, I am Doctor Dubois. You're wife seemed to be intoxicated so we ran an IV line to keep her fluids up until the alcohol was out of her system then we were able to stitch up that severe wound on her head. When she wakes up we'll check a few things then discharge her and send you guys off. We've put a bandage over it so nothing would open the suture area that could cause more complications, I would also like you to keep an eye on her for any changes in her lifestyle, since we are assuming she hit her head pretty hard we aren't able to accurately diagnose her for a concussion right now, I'll set up an appointment for a checkup in two weeks to see how's she's doing and please refrain from any hardcore activity." She said before going to do whatever she needs and left me in the room alone with Alina.
My hands that grasped her's gave them warmth from the cold, it has been around ten hours since we've arrived at the hospital, the wait was unbearable, silence that filled the room was getting quite irritating. I just want to hear the sound of her bubbly voice giggling at something she found funny even if it wasn't the slightest bit funny, "Alina, you have no idea what you are doing to me," I chuckled weakly, "I'm going insane just sitting her that I might even start reading you're romance books," I laugh... "it has come to that point baby... Just waiting for you to wake up is replaying this hilarious memory, I went out to a party and I was suffering with these guys that Vincent ditched me with as a joke to get back at me for leaving him with a bunch of grandma's for a day, I don't remember why I did that... anyways they spoke only about their breakups the entire night while me and you were thriving in our relationship. I just drank till I couldn't hear them but they wouldn't shut up for hours to the point where it got so irritating, I drank so much that I called you at midnight when you were at home sleeping, remember that?" I laugh by myself remembering the night very well, "you picked me up, I was so drunk to the point where I was toppling over, when we got home you watched me hurl in the bathroom for hours, you kept spraying febreeze in the bathroom to stop it from stinking and wanted to bring me to the hospital when it was just the starting of my hangover. I never really told you the while story of that night except that I just went out with some friends to drink." God these memories made me laugh even though it was a for a ridiculous reason, every time it comes back to my mind the question of how exactly did I manage to get myself into that position.
As I laid my head on her hand, there was a small giggle that was heard in the room, one that would never get old for me, the sound of an angelic voice that rung with happiness echoed in the room and for a second I thought that it was just my delusional thinking. Have I've been sleep deprived? Yes, but to the point where imaginative sounds were appearing in my life. "You're are so cute, you know that?" She whispers very quietly and I jump at the sound of it.
"You're awake!" I state loudly.
"Shhh, you don't have to scream," she groans.
Immediately I apologize for being loud, "sorry baby, I just got excited..."
"It's okay baby, I know you didn't mean to," she says slowly opening her eyes but when she was able to open up her eyes she winced quickly closing them. "Can you please turn off the light? It's too bright and my head hurts," she asks me, I did whatever she wanted me to.
"Of course, let me know what you need and I'll get you it."
"Thanks... how long was I out for?" She asks curiously.
"Just for the whole day..." I tell her calmly.
"The whole day?" She asks exasperatedly while bringing her palm to her face and wincing.
"Yes, but it's okay now, try not to stress too much about it okay?"
She nods closing her eyes again, "where's Leo? I want to see my baby, we were supposed to pick him up today."
"Leo and the family are on their way right now, I texted them when I received news that you would wake up any minute and Leo understands that you're recovering." I tell her brushing a strand of her hair behind her ear to inspect the bandage that the doctors put on her. "I was scared when I found you in that state... how did that happen?"
"I-I-I don't know..." she sighs, "one moment I was walking towards the pool to soak my feet, and then the next the hose tangled my feet making me hit my head on that diving board and fall into the pool." Alina starts to chuckle embarrassingly, "pathetic isn't it?"
I shake my head, "no it's not, I'm just glad that you're okay. No more drinking for you when you're alone, I don't want anything to happen like that again."
"You're not the only one hoping that it will not happen again, who said that I asked for that? The one time I drink it turns into this!"
"I don't know babe, you're just special I guess." I joke a little to lighten the mood which earns me a smile from her.
A knock on the hospital room's door interrupts our little conversation as we see our little boy's head peak into the room, "mommy?" His voice comes out with pure innocence, his little eyes roam the room searching for us until we came into his sight and a huge smiles appear on his face.
Leo walked in quietly shouting in a whisper, "how are you feeling mama?"
Alina giggles at the precautions he was taking, the thought of him being so considerate meant that she did a pretty good job at raising him so far, the young boy showed manners and perfect respect towards his mom. Only occasionally would he acted like a real child but what can you expect? He's still really you, the politeness he had was already a shocking factor to both of us. "You can talk normally Leo just not too loud okay baby? Now come over here and sit with me." She pats to the side of the bed where he could sit, "wait, why are you here alone? Who's watching you?" There is the motherly side of her coming right back even when given her horrid situation, not for a second will she take a break of worrying about others.
"GG and Papi are outside with Uncle Sam and aunty Aviana," he tells us.
"Since when did you started calling your grandparents GG and Papi?" I ask confused at the sudden change of their names, what happened to the normal grandma and grandpa? Now he changed it to GG and Papi? It's funny to hear the different kind of names he has given them as title, rather amusing to see how our child comes up with these stuff.
He just shrugged not able to give me an answer as to where he came up with this, "oh no! Aviana's celebration! God, what time is it?"
"Jeez Alina, relax a little bit you just went through something that barely anyone experiences, take a step back for a little bit. It's okay Aviana postponed the event until further notice," I tell her calmly in hopes that she wouldn't stress herself out over this.
"Ah!" She groans putting her face in her hands, "I ruined it didn't I?"
"What? No, god no, she said that family comes first and that she really actually wanted you to be there. My sister didn't mind at all to put it on hold, she just wants you well enough to be able to attend." There is no reason for her to think she ruined a whole event over her serious injury's, the family was here to support us not too bash us about how everything was ruined.
"Mommy, it's okay, don't cry." My son says taking his little tiny hands and placing them on both sides of her cheeks bringing her face up to meet our gaze.
It surprised me how his small little gesture had a massive affect on Alina's emotions during any time, she removed her hands revealing her face with a small smile at his attempt of cheering her up and it worked. "I'm not crying baby," she tells him.
Out of nowhere his eyes go wide with his eyebrows flaring up so fast like a light bulb had just illuminated, he had an idea as far as I can tell, "mommy I made you a drawing!" He exclaims bringing her joy.
Taking out a piece of paper that we didn't notice that was behind him, it was a drawing of our family from what I assume the stickman drawing of people were, shooting water at each other with water guns just like the day we had enjoyed not too long ago as a family. With the words written, 'love you forever and always', it made Alina tear up from the fact that our son put a thoughtful meaning into his drawing that was for Alina.
"It's beautiful baby," she tells him while grabbing him to engulf him with kisses all over his cheeks while the sound of giggles echoed throughout the room. I couldn't help but observe my family as they engaged into a laughing moment, it was quite intriguing the peculiar thoughts of this kid who had the brain of a twenty five year old student, to say we were amazed was an understatement.
"I missed you a lot mom, sleeping over at GG's and Papi's was fun for one day, not two days! I missed you and daddy." Our hearts melted at the statement he made to us, he missed us even though it was just a day and little did he know that Alina felt the same exact way about him.
"You have no idea how much your mom missed you too by the way, so much that it was everything she thought about," I reveal her little secret and joke around with them at the same time.
"What?! No it wasn't everything I thought about," she purse her lips trying to play off the truth that was told.
"Don't worry mommy, I know you love me that much," Leo giggles out of nowhere and looks at me covering his mouth to keep his laughter within.
I chuckle when Alina narrows her eyes at both of us, "I hate both of you right now."
I send Leo a wink and we both smother her with hugs and kisses.
