Alina's POV.
I've gotten discharged from the hospital yesterday not too long everyone came to see me, sometimes I just wish that my parents would come and see me when I'm sick, injured or even just to see me personally. There is tension between us where they always looked down on me, thinking that never in a lifetime would their only daughter would be able to financially support herself and they also took me as an stupid person which always affected me mentally.
Right now Leo was playing outside with Mr. Ben on his bike, the funniest thing happened today where he made Mr. Ben scooter around to follow him and the fact that he was able to persuade the much older man to comply was priceless. Nathan and me were sitting on our porch on the patio swing, it was nice and comfortable with all the pillow mattresses giving us cushion. We both might of added some new things to the house to make it feel more cozy for family friendly gatherings, Nathan was sitting watching Leo while I was relaxing beside him with my legs draped across him.
It was a beautiful day today where it was sunny, tomorrow is Monday, the day where my son will be starting at his new school and I have to go out to buy him some school supplies tonight. There were a bunch of materials that were required to be provided, since the move, there was no sign of his old supplies anywhere in the few boxes that were open.
I had to buy him some new materials, this week I'll be at home for two days then start at the new law firm, the doctor insisted on me to take it easy for a few days and Nathan also tried to persuade me to stay home to relax. I have a job to attend to as well and not showing up on the first day is a horrible first impression, so while using my negotiation skills at least I was able to manage working three days this week. Only Monday, Wednesday and Friday, the other two would require me to stay home, but I'll be unpacking.
I was wearing some light blue jean shorts with a form fitting black tank top, one of my comfy light grey cardigan and my pair of cream coloured flat velvet peep toe sandals that ankle straps crossed over.
This was my comfy casual outfit that I would wear throughout high school, basic outfit, that was my style, only needed jeans, a shirt then throw on a cardigan and call it a day. After being with Nathan, the more elegant side of fashion was introduced to me, and when working at the law firm I either wore pants suit or pencil skirts to maintain a formal exterior.
Nathan was still looking good, he barely wore jeans, only once in awhile but still today he looks as sexy as always even though he was wearing grey trousers, a form fitting dark blue t-shirt, probably expensive for just a normal designer brand shirt, and grey sneakers.
His hand rested on my leg, as we enjoyed the relaxing time until the week started over again, "Nathan?"
"Yes baby?" He reply's with his eyes still watching every move of Leo's.
"I need to go to the store today to get some supplies for Leo tomorrow," I inform him in advance so he doesn't ask where I've gone off to.
"How about we all go together then we can also pick up some fries to spoil that little one for a snack then we come back home for dinner?" Nathan suggests to me.
"That's sounds great, I'll make my Roman-style chicken pasta and maybe I'll do some baking with Leo tonight for school tomorrow, he could bring some in for his classmates." Some baking would be a fun activity for me to do with Leo, I want his first day of school to be the best. My experience with school wasn't as great as I'd liked it to be, my name was apparently pasty ghost girl because I wouldn't leave my house, I never left my house in middle school or high school mainly since my parents always expected me to study my whole life, the name calling and mean gestures people did to me was too much for me to handle. My skin was so pale that people used that against me, no matter how good you are people just don't seem to accept you with your flaws...
It had gotten so bad that my mind told me to remain indoors to keep myself from everyone, to stay inside where no one would see me as well and to stay a ghost. I was so invisible to people yet a popular subject, my younger days weren't as amusing like it should of been, with all the negativity that surrounded me I never went to prom either. It was pointless... now thinking back to mine and my parents relationship— it seemed to be toxic...
"Want to go now?" Nathan asks bringing me back to the real world.
"Yeah, we can." I remove my legs from him as he stand up first, I stood up second but it was a mistake to move a little quickly. My vision was overwhelmed with the sight of stars, while my body felt a little dizzy as well, loosing my balance on my feet I quickly grab onto Nathan wherever I could who was standing directly in front of me.
Rubbing my eyes for it to disappear faster, after a few seconds my vision went back to normal, "are you okay Alina?" Nathan asks me concerned about my wellbeing.
"Yep," I pause trying to think of a way to tell him without it sounding that serious, "just got up a little too quickly." Hopefully he will accept that answer.
He looks me in my eyes for a few seconds trying to see if he can read that I am lying or not, eventually my husband gives up then kisses the top of my head, "now you can take off that bandage, it's been more then twenty four hours, I'm going to get my car key's and pack up Leo while you can get your stuff to go. I'll meet you in the car," Nathan says giving me a quick peck on my lips then leaving to do what he just told me.
I head into the house heading towards our bedroom to retrieve my purse, when reaching our bedroom I started getting a headache which disturbed me mildly but putting that aside I grabbed my small purse. Carefully removing the bandage on my head, the stitches were pretty hidden, just to hide it a little more, my hair was left down instead of me tying it up. It would probably make my head sore to have it tied up and tugging on the wound which didn't seem like a good idea and so after finishing up I left downstairs to meet my favourite two boys who were waiting outside in the car for me.
As I sat down in the car noticing that Nathan was now wearing a pair of sunglasses to complete his look, Leo was playing with his rhinoceros stuffed toy. "Leo you're going to get your rhinoceros dirty if you don't play with it carefully." I tell him as Nathan starts to pull out of the property, turning my body around to face him in the back in his car seat.
"I'll be careful mom, don't worry," he chimes in with a smile when I turn back around he asks me the most adorable thing ever, "mommy I want sunglasses like daddy! I want to be a big boy just like him." My son already wanted to grow up skipping the steps that lead up to maturing, it was great how he had respect for both me and Nathan.
"We can look for some another day okay? We can go shopping, I need to buy you some new clothes too." He was growing way too fast that his clothes were getting too small for him, it seems like that he'll outgrow me in no time which was a little scary. If he had Nathan's height then Leo would be obviously taller then me.
The drive to the store was quiet which was very much appreciated, my headache was still mild, tolerable and thank goodness that they didn't turn on the radio. It would of made my headache much worse then what it was right in this moment, instead Nathan drove while holding my hand and I just clouded our completely as I was staring at the road.
An hour passes by after I was finally able to find everything Leo needed, we decided to also do a little grocery shopping, well I did, they dropped me off to get whatever we needed while Nathan and Leo went to get some fries.
Going to the medication aisle to look for pain relief medication for my headache, there was a couple with a baby passing by making my heart melt, reminding me of the time Leo was just a baby, before he could run around on his two little legs.
Turning back to the metal shelf filled with medication for different reasons, on the top shelf was some Tylenol, I was reaching high on the shelf to grab it until a hand grabbed it before mine and handed it to me. I was thankful for somebody to come assist me since there was difficulty present in me reaching it, when turning around to be met with the familiar person I wasn't too fond with, I was not excited to see them.
"Alina, I saw you in the aisle struggling so I decided to help you," he tells me smiling which sends goosebumps all over my body.
It was jack, the man who made me very uncomfortable, "thanks," I tell him shortly as he hands over the medication which was out of my reach.
"It's really funny how we keep bumping into each other," he tells me when really it's not because he is the one that bumps into me, wherever I've been he's always here.
"Yeah..." I trail off trying to think of things that create an out route for me,
"We should grab a coffee sometimes or do something as friends."
"I don't know Jack, my schedule is pretty hectic." I tell him upfront trying to avoid any types of meetings with him, "well my husband and child are waiting for me, anyways bye." The goodbye was cut short, rude, but I didn't want to hear another word from him. So I strifes off not even turning back to look at him for a second.
Turning around to make my way to the cash with my cart of groceries, from the side of my eyes, there were people taking pictures of me, soon I'll be back in every articles heading which was the last thing I wanted.
Putting the groceries into my cart neatly in my reusable bags, the cashier kept staring at me with which noticeable and I just wanted to get out of there as fast as I can. Walking out of the building, taking out my phone to call Nathan, when I was about to he was already outside waiting for me with Leo in the car. We were putting our groceries in the car when all of a sudden flashes started appearing from behind us, looking up to the source of the lights, it was the paparazzi and in this moment it was good that the car had tinted windows. Nobody had to see or know about my son, for now at least until we couldn't prevent them from learning about him.
Reporters were gathering around us, the multiple flashes of light that lasted barely a second made my headache worsen and the lights were unbearable but me and Nathan managed to get back into the car without drawing even more attention towards us.
When closing my door behind me, my husband locked it right away, "you okay Alina?" Nathan asked with concern looking at.
"Is that the only thing you ask me? I'm not fragile!" I snap at him as he drove off, my head was pounding with pain soaring through it.
"Daddy is in trouble..." Leo narrates from behind us eating his fries innocently.
We drove the rest of the way in silence, Leo entertaining himself while Nathan kept quiet to himself and I was trying to relieve the pain by taking my hand in my hand in frustration.
I was pretty stupid for leaving the medication in the back of the trunk.
As we parked in our large garage we all got out of the car, Nathan popped the trunk while Leo hopped out with fries in a bag eating at the same time. Nathan's employees came to assist us with the groceries while Leo went inside to eat on the counter.
"Mommy, do you want some fries?" My little boy offers me, for the first time in forever my stomach didn't feel too good to handle it.
"No thanks baby, don't forget to wash your hands, we can bake some cookies tonight for your class too." I tell him making him excited.
"Can we make some sugar cookies?" He asks.
"I don't think your teacher would want you handing out something with a lot of sugar, maybe some oatmeal chocolate chip?" I suggest letting his hopes down.
"Hmm," he groans at the imagination of the freshly baked cookies, "those sound good too," he giggles covering his mouth.
