Bryant's POV
The church was eerily silent, broken only by the hushed murmurs of restless guests. I stood by the altar, fidgeting with my cufflinks for what felt like the hundredth time. My jaw tightened as I stole another glance at the towering oak doors—still shut.
An hour.
Amanda was late.
I forced myself to stay calm, clinging to the hope that she was just caught up in last-minute details—maybe adjusting her veil or fixing a stubborn curl. But with every passing second, my patience frayed.
Snatching my phone from my pocket, I dialed her number again. It rang endlessly before dropping into voicemail.
"Amanda, where the hell are you?" I growled under my breath, my grip tightening around the device.
Then—movement. The doors creaked open, and I whipped around, heart hammering—only for Dorothea and Andres to stride in, their faces ashen.
Dorothea rushed toward me, clutching a crumpled note in trembling hands. "Bryant," she choked out. "Amanda... she's gone."
My stomach dropped. I snatched the paper from her.
I'm sorry.
Two words. That was it.
"We've already called the police," Andres cut in, his voice thick with tension. "They're looking into it, but... we have no leads."
The note crumpled in my fist as my mind reeled. No. Amanda wouldn't just walk away. Not like this.
I turned to one of my men stationed at the back. "Mobilize everyone. Tear this city apart if you have to. Find her."
He nodded sharply and disappeared outside.
The church erupted into chaos as whispers spread like wildfire. The perfect wedding had shattered into a nightmare, and the pit in my stomach only deepened.
Minutes later, one of my men returned, shoving his phone into my hands. "Sir, you need to see this."
The screen flashed with a breaking news alert:
"Wedding Disaster: Amanda Smith Calls Off Marriage to Bryant Jones After Being Spotted Entering Ex-Fiancé Gabriel Rocco's Apartment Late Last Night."
The footage cut to grainy security clips—Amanda stepping into Gabriel's building, then Gabriel pulling her into a kiss before the door slammed shut.
The world tilted beneath me. My hands shook as I stared at the screen.
"No," I snarled, shaking my head. "This is bullshit. Amanda would never—"
I hurled the phone against the wall. The screen exploded on impact, the sound cracking through the room like a gunshot.
Dorothea flinched, pressing a hand to her chest. "Bryant, what does this mean? Amanda wouldn't go back to him... would she?"
"She wouldn't," I bit out, though my voice wavered. "Something's wrong. I know her. She wouldn't leave me—not like this."
My gaze swept over the crowd. Every guest here had been handpicked—trusted allies, family. And yet... how had the press known the venue?
"This was leaked," I said, my voice low and dangerous. "No one outside this room knew the location. Someone's feeding them information."
Dorothea's eyes widened. Andres' face darkened. "You think there's a mole?" he asked.
"Damn right I do," I said, stepping forward. "Amanda didn't leave. She was taken. And someone in this room helped make it happen."
The mole didn't last long under pressure.
After interrogating the staff, one of the maids cracked, pointing the finger at Linda—the family nanny, Nadia's longtime accomplice.
The second she was dragged in front of us, Linda broke.
"Nadia paid me," she sobbed, twisting her hands. "She—she threatened my family if I didn't cooperate. She wanted updates on Amanda's every move. I had no choice!"
Dorothea gasped, clutching her chest. "Nadia? After everything we've done for her? My God..."
I clenched my fists, fury burning through my veins. "What else?"
Linda hesitated, her eyes darting wildly.
"Tell me!" I roared, closing the distance between us.
Tears streamed down her face as she whispered, "Nadia and Gabriel... they're working together. They planned this. Nadia said they'd destroy Amanda's reputation first—then... then they'd kill her."
Dorothea let out a strangled cry. Andres looked ready to tear the room apart.
"Kill her?" My voice was lethal. "Why?"
Linda's gaze dropped. "Gabriel has... videos. Private ones. He's been blackmailing her. She didn't want to go, but he forced her. She had no way out."
The words hit me like a sledgehammer. My vision blurred with rage. Gabriel had trapped her. Manipulated her. And now he had her.
I turned to my men, my voice a razor-sharp command.
"Lock down the city. Find her. Now."
