Amanda's eyes welled with tears as she shook her head. "No, I do owe you an apology. I never meant to tarnish the family's name or pull you into my problems. I thought I was protecting everyone, but I only made everything worse."
Andres leaned forward, his brow creased with concern. "Amanda, why didn't you come to us? We could've faced this together."
She stared down at her trembling hands, shame tightening her chest. "I was embarrassed," she admitted. "You've only known me as your daughter for such a short time, and now I've brought nothing but chaos into your lives. I didn't want to let you down."
Dorothea's hand gently covered hers. "Amanda, you're our daughter. That means we stand with you—no matter what. But you have to stop seeing yourself as weak."
Andres nodded firmly. "You come from strong stock, Amanda. Start acting like it. You survived everything Gabriel and Nadia did to you. That takes real strength."
Her throat tightened as their words sank in. They were right. Fear had ruled her for too long, but she wasn't that girl anymore. She couldn't afford to be.
"You're right," she said softly, lifting her gaze. "I've been afraid, but I know now—Gabriel and Nadia may be behind bars, but this isn't over. They won't stop. They'll find another way to destroy us. That's who they are."
She turned to Bryant, her voice steady. "They have to die."
Bryant studied her for a long moment, his expression unreadable. Then he leaned back, a faint smirk curling his lips. "I know people," he said simply. "From the underground. It'll be clean. Untraceable."
His voice dropped, deadly serious. "Are you sure about this?"
"Yes," she answered without hesitation. "They made me into this. They deserve it. And I want it done in a way they'll never see coming—something subtle. Poison."
Bryant gave a slow nod, his eyes locked onto hers. "Consider it done."
A week later, the news broke.
"Breaking: Gabriel and Nadia found dead in their prison cells. Early reports suggest suicide, though investigations are ongoing."
Amanda stood motionless in front of the television, watching as the reporter detailed the deaths. Gabriel and Nadia—gone. The world believed it was suicide.
She knew better.
A slow, satisfied smile curved her lips as she turned off the screen.
"They're gone," she murmured, more to herself than anyone.
Bryant leaned against the doorway, watching her closely. "Do you feel better?"
She met his gaze, her voice firm. "Yes. For the first time, I feel free."
He pushed off the doorframe, stepping closer, his expression softening. "Good. Because I think it's time we finally leave all this behind."
She tilted her head. "What do you mean?"
Bryant reached into his pocket and pulled out a small velvet box. Her breath hitched as he opened it, revealing a glittering diamond ring.
"Look, the wedding's been postponed twice, and I won't let it happen again," he said, dropping to one knee. "And I realized I never did this properly—since we were arranged and all. Amanda, will you marry me?"
Tears blurred her vision as she stared at him, her heart swelling. "Yes," she whispered, her voice trembling. "Yes, Bryant. A thousand times, yes."
He slid the ring onto her finger, and she pulled him up, wrapping her arms around him as their lips met in a fierce, lingering kiss.
