That night, many people couldn't fall asleep on time. Louis was busy making calls and sending messages, instructing his subordinates to immediately deal with the online rumors surrounding Matthew.
When Matthew overheard that the matter involved Athena, he casually picked up his tablet to see what was circulating online. It didn't take long for all the gossip about him and Athena to be wiped clean from the internet, preventing any new posts from gaining traction. However, he came across numerous exposés about the Donovan family.
KitmoreWhisperer: [The Donovan family is really messy. Wesley and Claire are only in their early fifties, yet they have eight children. The youngest, only four or five years old, returned to the Donovan family just over a year ago, supposedly an illegitimate child.]
KitmoreInsider: [It seems like their sixth child is also an illegitimate child; she looks nothing like the rest of the family.]
ScoopSquad: [I heard the eldest son of the Donovan family was once married, but on the day of the wedding, the bride ran off. He has been hiding out in the countryside ever since.]
KitmoreWhisperer: [There are rumors that the second son left the country illegally and hasn't contacted the family in three years. The Donovan family claims he's studying abroad, but how could a family as poor as theirs afford overseas education?]
KitmoreInsider: [I heard the third son went to prison, for both robbery and sexual assault...]
Matthew frowned slightly at what he saw. Rumors about the Donovan family were swirling, and someone was clearly pulling the strings behind the scenes. The Donovan family was too low-profile to have offended any powerful figures, so it was obvious the mastermind was targeting Athena.
"Mr. Graham, should I go ahead and wipe out these rumors too?" Louis's voice suddenly broke the silence.
Startled, Matthew looked up to see Louis standing by his side, peering at the tablet in his hand. His eyes, glinting behind his glasses, gave away the fact that he had seen right through Matthew's thoughts.
With a stoic expression, Matthew replied calmly, "There's no rush. Let's see how Athena handles this. If she can manage it, we don't need to intervene. If not, we'll step in later."
Louis adjusted his glasses, giving Matthew a knowing look. "Mr. Graham, are you testing Miss Donovan's capabilities?" He was beginning to realize there was more to Athena than met the eye. Yet, despite digging around, he couldn't quite figure her out.
Matthew nodded. "Keep an eye on her."
Louis's glasses glimmered as he responded, "Alright."
Meanwhile, Athena, after closing her eyes in thought for a few minutes, dialed Harry's number.
"Honey, miss me already?" Harry's voice drawled lazily from the other end. "I've completed the renovation plan for your family's duplex and have already hired the workers. We'll start as soon as I get the green light from your father tomorrow. In three months, your family will be able to move into their new home."
Lately, Harry had been managing the affairs at Bard Property. According to his plan, he intended to compensate the Donovan family for the company's delays in handing over the house and the issues with water leakage by offering a free renovation for their new home.
Athena didn't have any objections to this plan, but this time, she had a different request. She said, "Something came up at home, and they can't stay there anymore. We can't wait until the new place is ready. I want to give them the villa at Mid-Level Mountain Garden, but I can't let them know it's from me, so I need your help with—"
