"So, the person who placed the bugs won't come forward to apologize? Fine. I'll play the surveillance footage now to see who's responsible. I'll file a lawsuit first thing tomorrow," he announced in a harsh tone.
He pretended to pull up a video for public viewing. At that moment, a masked man stepped out of the crowd, stammering, "I-I took money from someone to put bugs in the restaurant." He turned to Wesley and Arthur, apologizing, "I'm sorry, I was wrong. I'll make amends. Please forgive me."
Ryan approached the masked man and demanded, "Who paid you to frame Local Fried Chicken?"
"I... I don't know," the masked man replied frantically, wiping the sweat from his forehead. "In the evening, I was taking a stroll when a car suddenly stopped by the roadside. The person in the car lowered the window, showing just a pair of eyes behind sunglasses. I was handed a bag of bugs, some cash, and told to sneak the bugs into—"
Ryan interrupted with a sneer, "Do you think I'd believe you?"
"I swear, I'm telling the truth. I really don't know anything..." the man said desperately as he backed away, then turned and fled.
"Chase after him!" Ryan ordered.
His men immediately pursued the masked man, and their figures quickly vanished around the corner.
Ryan turned to the remaining reporters, influencers, and diners who had made false claims. He pointed his finger at them as he said sharply, "Will you apologize, or should we meet in court?"
Seeing what had just happened, their arrogance deflated as they said submissively, "We'll apologize..."
Ryan pulled out a vape from his pocket and took a drag. "I'll be supervising your apology. If you fail to rectify the negative impact you've caused Local Fried Chicken, I'll ask the court to step in."
The reporters and influencers, eager to avoid legal trouble, promptly apologized and left the scene, putting an end to the commotion.
Arthur approached Ryan, glancing around, and asked worriedly, "Your men have been chasing after those who planted the bugs for a while. What if something happened to them? Shouldn't you call and check?"
"Fool," Ryan hissed, removing the vape from his mouth and glaring at Arthur. "You've been here for so long. Have you ever seen a surveillance camera on this tree?"
Arthur thought for a moment, scratching his head, saying sheepishly, "I don't think I've seen one before..."
Ryan snorted. "I had someone install the camera on the tree, and I also arranged for the guy to claim he planted the bugs. There's no surveillance footage of anyone putting bugs in the restaurant. Do you understand now?"
Arthur stared at him in shock, his eyes widening and his mouth hanging open. After a long pause, he exclaimed, "I-I can't believe this..."
