Athena's words were heartfelt. Although many considered the Donovan family to be poor, their situation was relative to the wealthy, not to the average person. In fact, Athena's eldest brother was only 28. With two sons in university, a young daughter in kindergarten, and two elderly parents to care for, Wesley and Claire's ability to support such a large family suggested they were quite capable.
Moreover, the Donovan family had bought a nearly 2 thousand square feet duplex about four or five years ago. It wasn't something an average person could easily afford. If not for bad luck, they would have moved into that duplex three years ago. But that wasn't the most impressive thing about Athena's parents.
The most remarkable thing about Wesley and Claire was that, despite having elderly family members with health issues, a wide age gap between their children, and significant financial burdens, they had managed to keep the entire family harmonious and united. That was truly extraordinary.
'As long as they're given the opportunity, they will surely achieve great success,' Athena thought with conviction.
The others were greatly encouraged by her words. After all, she was the top SAT scorer, and a talented individual who had earned enough to buy a car and saved a million dollars by the age of 18—her words carried weight.
Wesley asked seriously, "Athena, are you really not just encouraging me?"
"I am." Athena smiled mischievously. "One percent is encouragement, ninety-nine percent is the truth." She glanced at everyone and said assertively, "Honestly, I'm very good at judging people, and I haven't been wrong so far. If I believe you can do it, there's no doubt you'll succeed."
Athena's words gave Wesley the courage and confidence he needed. With such a brilliant and supportive daughter, he, as a father, had to live up to her expectations. He pounded the table with his fist and stated confidently, "Alright, when we go to sign the contract with Bard Property, I'll tell them I accept their job offer."
Everyone applauded and cheered him on.
"Honey, you're still so amazing. I love you," Claire said with a dreamy look in her eyes as if she were 20 again.
Arthur gave a thumbs-up. "Dad, you're so awesome. You can do it!"
"Dad, our whole family supports you." Maria clapped so hard that her hands turned red.
"Daddy, you're the best in the world. I will always love you," Josie said in a sweet voice.
Athena said nothing. She only clapped and smiled warmly, her eyes sparkling with joy.
Meanwhile, as Athena enjoyed breakfast with her family, Zoe was slumped over the table in her pajamas, with dark circles under her eyes and disheveled hair.
She pounded the keyboard and screamed in frustration, "This is the latest tablet I bought last month, and it's worth over 20 thousand dollars! I installed the best firewall and antivirus software. How did it get messed up by a virus so easily?
"Damn it, I'm Last Cleopatra, a famous hacker! What kind of virus is so powerful that it took me an entire night, and I still can't get it to boot?"
Zoe pulled at her hair in rage, tangling her already messy long locks. "I can't accept this. I'm Last Cleopatra. I refuse to lose to a mere computer virus," she hissed, her chest heaving with each breath.
"No, I need to call him," Zoe muttered angrily, grabbing her phone and dialing a number. "I don't believe that he can't crack this ridiculous virus!"
